  1. pfft pay him no mind. He doesn't know BO
  2. Plenty of backup rbs do such as but not limited to and currently excluding turner Kevan Barlow- (split carries with garrison hearst looked like he had very good potential average a real good 5.1ypc in 2003 and went on to average 3.4, 3.3, and 2.8 the following 3 seasons Troy Hambrick- After averaging 4.7, 5.1,4.0 backing up the aging emmitt smith finaly got his chance to prove himself and flunked out hasn't played a down since 2004 Lamont Jordan- Receiving limited but more opportunities then everyones current favorite backup Michael turner. Backing up curtis martin Lamont Jordan had the look of a starting back and some production for a team to warrant the chance. Showed potential as a legit receiving threat and having the speed and power to make a starting caliber back. Has been a bit of a dissapointment with the raiders. I dont watch much raider games but I know he had ball security issues in the past. I really dont see him as anything special. My whole thing about turner is yeah he has some nice speed and runs with good power, however he's also backing up the best rb currently in the game. When LT comes out of games teams aren't focusing on Michael Turner. He also doesn't have the production that warrants giving a high 2nd rd pick to a afc superbowl contender. For a 4th rd pick sure. Anything more then that and I'll pass.
  3. If he can prove he belongs on the field great. I expect him to get cut in preseason though.
  4. http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/pop...&src=sports just click on patrick willis interview
  5. Id take Jim Finn in a second. He's a hardnosed blocking fullback who offers some but limited checkdown option in the passing game. He's been a pretty good blocker clearing lanes for tiki barber. I'd definitely bring him in for a look.
  6. Id feel like jets fans felt watching kevan barlow last year. That is Id wish I wasn't watching kevan barlow on my team. He averaged 2.8 ypc on 131 carries. He hasn't averaged over 3.5 since 2003. He's a useless p.o.s. Of all the possible crappy free agent rbs we could get that would just be horrible.
  7. Assuming That Cleveland takes quinn like a lot of people are currently speculating they might theres 2 teams after them and before buffalo I can see taking AP. The Vikings and Falcons. More so the falcons. While I think Jerious Norwood can be an everydown back and they have much bigger needs, they could be looking for a complimentary back to go with him. Warrick Dunn is pretty much done. Atlanta imo is the biggest threat. The vikings I think are 70/30 on taking peterson because of chester taylor it's not really a need position. If it didnt take too much say a 1st and a 2nd to move up to 5 or 6 to grab Peterson I would not be against it theres some decent lb and corners that we could still grab with our 2 3rds. My hope is that these teams look at his injury history and decide to pass and have him fall right into our laps.
  8. You have 4 years and 23 million guesses why the texans won't take adrian peterson. Not only that but Kubiak is a Shannahan disiciple and has never been big on taking 1st rd rb's. I also am pretty sure Domanick Davis is still on the texans roster.
  9. Well for starters I wont give you a mock but starting with the most critical need Rb- Right now it's painfuly obvious we have no "upgrade" to willis mcgahee. Despite LSI Cadets unwaivering faith in the Atrain. Shaud Williams at best is a 3rd down/situational type back. He lacks size and speed and hands. He has good quickness to turn the corner though. Not someone you can rely on in a rbbc. I dont know much about the guy from NFLE, but I highly doubt that he's the future. Someone with knowledge about nfle can help you with that. This is a area that will most likely be addressed via the draft. While my prefrence is large and away the guy in my avatar my 2nd choice would be draftin antonio pittman or michael bush in the 2nd or 3rd rd and picking best available corner or lb depending on what the bills feel the bigger need is. LB- With the unsurity of spikes due to injury and unconfidence that crowell can man the middle and only 6th rd pick Keith Ellison at the other lb spot this will be addressed. I will just say that this position in paticular becomes a non need if keith ellison continues to progress, spikes pull a julian peterson and crowell turns out to be a solid mike backer. Due to cato june signing with tampa and the free agent crop weak. Unless you like someone like Kawika Mitchell. IMHO he's too slow in coverage, not a great tackler nor good at blitzing or causing fumbles. This area will also be addressed via the draft early. Depending what the bills feel they need more a mlb or olb we'll see. I'm leaning towards mlb myself. Cb- After rb this is my biggest area of concern for the bills. Not just because ashton youboty didnt play much last year, but because for the past few years I've watched terrence mcgee repeatedly get beat like a drum and get praised because he's seen so much "making plays". He's overmatched at 5'9 by most #2 receivers in the league. I just see this becoming increasingly more evident when he's matched up week to week with teams #1 and just for a preview some of the wr's he plays this year include To, Plaxico Burress, Donte Stallworth, Coles, Santana Moss, Chad Jackson, Braylon Edwards, and Javon Walker. Feeling comfortable with that thought? Theres a few decent corners that we can get up the 3rd rd. As long as the corner isn't leon hall. Free Agency- As far as free agency goes I'm hoping the bills sign no one else other then their own free agents. Specificaly Andre Davis. He's a great gunner on st's and unlike sam aiken at least offers some aspect of a receiving threat. I've never been one to believe in all out spending sprees for free agnecy prefering instead to build a team via the draft while using free agency as a means for a depth. 1 guy however I wouldnt mind is detroit lb boss bailey. He has some injury issues but great speed and would be cheap to sign. If he can manage to stay healthy would be a coo. I doubt it would make a dent salary cap wise if we went after him. That's really it though. THE DRAFT- The most critical need on this team is without a doubt in my mind runningback. I feel more comfortable about the situations at lb/dt/corner then I do about rb. They may just be prospects at those positions, but I'm more comfortable with the unknown of John McCargo, Keith Ellison and Crowell improving and Ashton Youboty then I am about Anthony Thomas. The a-train played hard last year, but he offers a limited scope of attibutes. He's not real shifty or elusive. Although at time he tries to be. Watch him he doesn't run thru the hole as much as people think he does instead prefering to make a cut to try to get to the corner. However he generally doesnt have the speed for this. He does have decent hands. Is a nice little check down option but wont do much with the ball in his hands. Has no breakaway speed. The one aspect of his game that is good is his vision. He can read blocks well. All in all Anthony thomas is an ideal #2 back. He'll never be the main horse and for good reason. Getting a rook with potential to be the guy. Someone like Peterson, Lynch, Bush,Pittman and have them split carries with the train and slowly bringing the rook along more and more as the season goes on would be the best way to go about it. Give the rook a chance to learn the nuances such as blitz pickup, properly reading blocks, and running routes. They made a decision to get something for willis and as it stands now with to be seen results in the future. For now I hope the bills know what they're doing.
  10. That's the problem with bills fans always living in the "good old days" Who are you again Mr. I'm old school and better then the n00bs. If you want rational discussion about a topic start one.
  11. 1. Jerry Rice 2. Chris Carter 3. James Lofton 4. Tim Brown 5. Steve Largent 6. TO 7. Marvin Harrison 8. Sterling Sharpe (His career was cut short but he was friggen amazing in his short 7 years) 9. Torry Holt 10. Art Monk
  12. 1. Jim Brown 2. Walter Payton 3. OJ Simpson 4. Eric Dickerson 5. Barry Sanders 6. Ladainian Tomlinson 7. Marshall Faulk 8. Marcus Allen 9. Emmit Smith 10. Thurman Thomas On a related note I believe if Tiki Barber had started earlier in his career he would be in this discussion. His numbers the last 5 years rush/rec are outstanding, but insufficent none the less to qualify.
  13. That I've seen. 1. Steve Young 2. Joe Montana 3. John Elway 4. Dan Marino 5. Peyton Manning 6. Brett Favre 7. Tom Brady 8. Dan Fouts 9. Jim Kelly 10. Bernie Kosar ( Yeah I think he was highly underrated paticularly early in his career) Yeah I know theres some others from the past who would go over some of these guys, but like I said just going by players I've seen.
  14. For all intents and purposes I still hope we somehow get adrian peterson, but I would not in the least be dissapointed with patrick willis at 12 and michael bush in the 2nd
  15. Personaly I think he's better then whitner. Not to knock Donte, but during the second half of the season a good reason mcgee began to look a lot better is because of how fast simpson improved in coverage. He is a bit hesitant to stick his head in there and make tackles but hes a decent tackler and has real good range and a real nose for the ball.
  16. Yeah it can be done simply looking at the teams that use rbbc or dual rb's. New Orleans- Bush/Mcallister 1st rd picks (Whether this is the direction they wanted to go is questionable but it's what they got so it works) Chi- Jones/Benson- Benson and Jones were both 1st rd picks. Jones accquired via free agency. Ne- Dillon/Maroney- Maroney 1st rd pick Giants- Tiki/Jacobs 2nd and 4th rd pick Sd- Tomlinson/Turner 1st and 5th rd pick Dallas- Jones/Barber-2nd and 4th rd picks RBBC is a good approach, but let's not kid ourselves. You still need that high caliber back to do most of the work and get the majority of the carries but come out to be spelled every now and then or simply riding the hot hand. I know people like to say "Running backs are a dime a dozen" which I simply don't believe. Running and stoping the run are the 2 most essential aspects of the game. Anthony thomas is a nice #2 quality back. He is incapable of being the lead horse in the stable. He has a very limited skill set to offer with no game changing ability. Now I know we probably wont get adrian peterson, but getting someone like Michael Bush/Lynch or Pittman can be just as effective.

  18. Hey don't knock the guys lifestyle choices maybe he just has a prefrence for the dark and burly
  19. Ron Edwards was fine coming in as a rotational dt. He had good quickness off the snap and could put good interior pressure. He was horrible against the run and would play too high allowing linemen to just knock him off the los. He also could never stay healthy. He managed to finally do that as a starter last year. He really hasn't improved much, but obviously herm and our old dline coach tim krumrie like him. So he got paid. As far as alfonzo boone goes not a bad signing. They didnt overpay and he has some experience in a rotation system.
  20. We can only hope Mcgee gets relegated to nickel back. I honestly hope we draft a good rookie corner someone like chris houston or Marcus Mccauley and youboty and rookie seriously outplay mcgee. I know a lot of people like terrence and that's fine he's a damn good kick returner. I just dont like watching him get consistently burned playing corner. The reason he gets noticed so much is because qb's consistently attack him. The good thing about cover 2 is with improved safety play a lot of mcgees defencies as a top 2 corner will not be as exposed. Part of the reason mcgee looked so bad playing zone, is partly due to inferior pass rush from the line and rookie safeties. He isn't much better in man to man.
  21. Sorry to hear that man. Deepest sympathies. I recently lost my dog as well in september my 10 year old beagle to canine lymphoma. They become another member of your immediate family and it truly is heartbreaking when their times comes. Once again my deepest sympathies on your loss
  22. I like the players. I just see this as too offensive heavy a draft. Other then rb I just wouldn't waste a high pick on the offensive side of the ball this year.
  23. laughing my f'n ass off? I wasn't sure what you're asking for a translation of. If you meant of a scat back. Scat backs are generally backs like, a good example a dave meggett, or another example today would be kevin faulk. Someone who can come in rely on their quickness, on draws, and occasional running plays, and offer versatility in the passing game. Ray Rice is a bowling ball running back, who gets stronger as the game goes on. More comperable to former bill travis henry.
  24. Ryan Simms has been pretty useless. He was drafted top 10 because he looked good next to julius peppers. Was pulled as a starter last year by Herm and replaced by the duo of James Reed and good old Ron Edwards. Not worth it.
