  1. yeah unless they're lined up wrong it which case it's an illegal formation
  2. What makes anyone think anthony thomas can be a starting rb? There's a reason he hasn't been a starter in 3 years. He lacks speed, initial quickness, has no speed to turn the corner. Is not any kind of a big play threat as evidenced by his 2 runs over 20 yards in his last 272 rushing attempts. What he lacks in any kind of speed he does have decent vision and follows blocks well. The problem is he's a whole beat slow being patient that he'll often get tackled before a play develops. What is described as "hitting holes hard" is having the ability to follow blocks. A lot of times he's hesistant to plow straight foward and instead tries to finese his way down the line and a few times he will catch a slight crease, but once thru lacks the quickness to shake off a defender and the unwillingness to plow thru him. He's a slow power back with poor leg drive making him a liability on short yardage and redzone situations. He's also not much of a receiver. He is able to be a good checkdown man but has no ability to do anything with the ball in his hands. All in all the runningback situation worries me. It's bad enough we lack playmakers on offense, outside of evans, and while the oline "upgrades" should help offensive production you still need players who make plays. Anthony Thomas as a backup is fine and if need be can share carries in a dual role. However we are not the denver broncos. Runningbacks don't grow off trees, and anyone who knows anything about the game can tell you in the afc east in novemeber and december if you can't make plays running the ball you won't win very many football games. Asking Anthony Thomas and some guy from NFLE to be your mainstay rb's wreaks of desperation.
  3. I have some opinions, but first I would like to say good job on the effort put in now for the critiquing... 1. I can see cleveland trading down because they do have a lot of holes, and atlanta via the schaub trade has the pics to trade up for calvin johnson. Will they unlikely. They've wasted 1st rd picks on trading for peerless price, michael jenkins, roddy white. They have a lot of needs and while Calvin Johnson is as close to a can't miss prospect as it gets atlanta needs defensive help a lot more then a wr. However I can buy it so no real qualms. 2. Brady Quinn in this draft scenairo I can't see him getting past the vikings. That may depend on if the vikings sign David Carr, but if they dont and quinn falls with just tavaris jackson on their roster it's doubtful he'd get past them. 3. With Kansas city already having Jared Allen and Tamba Hali why would they draft another de? Unless they move carriker inside, but even so they just re-signed ron edwards to a 4 year deal as well as alfonzo boone and still have james reed who played well for them last year. For KC If they're trading up it's because they'd be targeting Meachem before SD can grab him, or posisbly dwayne jarrett. 4. Ne- Why on earth would they grab jarrett after signing stallworth, wes welker, and kelley washington Also with chad jackson drafted just year. With needed youth infusion needed in the lb core and secondary I can't see them taking a luxury pick like jarrett. 5. I consider this a pretty good safety draft with a lot of good players, so I dont get the logic in teams trading up for a safety. Maybe I'm overrating them but with Landry, Nelson, Griffin, Merriweather I believe you have 4 legit 1st round safeties. But in light of those few discrepancies if Peterson fell to us at 12 Id be happier then a fly on sh--.
  4. I thought Gandy was just as bad of a guard as he was a tackle. Maybe it wasn't as evident during the line switch because of how good jason peters played and the fact we actually began to score points, but he would continually be pushed back in the run game and be overpowered on passing downs. He wasn't the worst guard ever but he wasn't very good either.
  5. I didnt see this mentioned anywhere so I'll throw in Tubthumping by Chumbawumba. As if the lyrics aren't bad enough the name of the song and band make it suck right off the start. We’ll be singin' When we’re winnin’ We’ll be singin’ I get knocked down, but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down I get knocked down, but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down I get knocked down, but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down I get knocked down, but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down Pissin’ the night away Pissin’ the night away He drinks a whisky drink, he drinks a vodka drink He drinks a lager drink, he drinks a cider drink He sings the songs that remind him of the good times He sings the songs that remind him of the better times Oh, Danny boy Danny boy Danny boy I get knocked down, but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down I get knocked down, but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down I get knocked down, but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down I get knocked down, but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down Pissin’ the night away Pissin’ the night away He drinks a whisky drink, he drinks a vodka drink He drinks a lager drink, he drinks a cider drink He sings the songs that remind him of the good times He sings the songs that remind him of the better times Don’t cry for me Next door neighbor I get knocked down, but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down I get knocked down, but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down I get knocked down, but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down I get knocked down, but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down I get knocked down (we’ll be singin’), but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down (when we’re winnin’) I get knocked down (we’ll be singin’), but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down (ooh, ooh, ooh) I get knocked down (we’ll be singin’), but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down (when we’re winnin’) I get knocked down (we’ll be singin’), but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down (ooh, ooh, ooh) I get knocked down (we’ll be singin’), but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down (when we’re winnin’) I get knocked down (we’ll be singin’), but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down (ooh, ooh, ooh) I get knocked down (we’ll be singin’), but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down (when we’re winnin’) I get knocked down (we’ll be singin’), but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down (ooh, ooh, ooh) I get knocked down (we’ll be singin’), but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down (when we’re winnin’) I get knocked down (we’ll be singin’), but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down (ooh, ooh, ooh) I get knocked down (we’ll be singin’), but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down (when we’re winnin’) I get knocked down (we’ll be singin’), but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down (ooh, ooh, ooh) I get knocked down (we’ll be singin’), but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down (when we’re winnin’) I get knocked down (we’ll be singin’), but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down (ooh, ooh, ooh) I get knocked down (we’ll be singin’), but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down (when we’re winnin’) I get knocked down (we’ll be singin’), but I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down (ooh, ooh, ooh ) PLEASE MAKE IT STOP
  6. Booker is in the mold of a Tiki Barber/Brian Westbrook. He's going to be able to do so many things for a team early in his career. Return kicks/punts. Be a good receiving back, is a definite home run threat. It's doubtful he can be "the guy" right away but with a few seasons gaining natural muscle and packing on 10lbs I think he can develop into a 1a type back. I also think he'll be gone before the 4th round.
  7. Tatum Bell is a guy who can give you 10 carries a game tops before burning out. He gets considerably worse the more carries he takes. He offers little as a receiver. Best used in a dual rb role, and while he would be paired with atrain neither one of them offer much of a goalline back and bell is virtualy useless in the redzone. RBBC are fine but at least get a back who need be can handle 20-25 carries. Bell just isn't that guy Kevin Jones while having a bit of a injury history hasn't exactaly had favorable circumstances. He's shown pretty good speed for his size, and while his ypc has droped considerably from his rookie season he's shown he can be a pretty effective runner. Under the right circumstances he can thrive imho. He showed tremendous receiving ability last season notching 61 receptions for 520 yards. If the lions were willing to trade KJ and what they'd want for him Id take him over the likes of turner in a heartbeat. Fwiw If we're going to trade picks for a rb I'd much prefer it to be in the draft trade up for adrian peterson.
  8. I could see dallas getting in the bidding for turner. It's no secret they've been shopping julius jones and may want another option to pair with Marion Barber The 3rd. The jets not after trading for thomas jones, and already having leon washington on the roster that one is bs.
  9. Swapping firsts would be awful. Turner is a 25 year old back, besides according to draft charts sd would have to give us half their draft just to move up from 30 to 12. The 30th pick being of 620 points 12th being 1200. The chargers would realisticaly have to give us their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rd pick and they would still wouldn't equal the value of of the 12th pick. Turner is already 25 years old realisticaly you're getting a back who may or may not be good a career high of 80 carries in a season is hardly sufficent evidence, someone who's shown nill as a receiver, and according to a pre draft bio his vision isn't all that good. I'd sit at 12 draft someone else and force sd's hand and look elsewhere. SD may think they can set the market for turner but Id much rather let the market determine his value then overspend on someone who just may be a good backup rb.
  10. Either Chris Brown wants too much money for nill production or neither the bills nor titans are all that interested. Considering their rb depth so far on both teams. The titans with Lendale White weighing in at a slim, trim, buff, cut, and ripped 260lbs and the bills with atrain and some bum from nfle my money is on interest in the likes of Brown isn't all that high. Honestly though I wish he'd sign with the titans so I dont have to hear about chris brown anymore.
  11. All Depends what Poz you're getting. The 2005 poz who looked like a real good lb attacking the field with reckless abandon, or the 2006 poz who while adequate looked a few beats slow and indecisive at times. For my money I'd just as soon trade back and take jon beason or wait till the 3rd and take rufus alexander.
  12. Well you basicaly answered you're own concern it is the scheme. The whole idea isn't to contain rushing lanes it's to attack the ball. The whole idea of the defense is to create pressure specifically from the defensive line. You don't want your de's staying home, but atacking upfield getting after the qb. I still think it would be wise of the bills to add another legit pass rushing threat opposite schobel, even with kelsay re-signed.
  13. Running off right tackle the raiders actualy ranked 9th in the league at 4.39 yards a clip which is much better then what the bills did ranking 27th in the league in runs off right tackle at 3.92 yards a clip. Now Langston Walker might not be the answer at rt. Looking at these stats though and I'll assume he played rt last year for the raiders. Seems to me that's a pretty good rushing average. If it's true it'll balance the left side of the line well. I hate to bet against a guy as massive as Langston Walker so I'll continue on with cautious optimism. http://footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol.php As Far as Darwin Walker goes. The job of the cover 2 is not to stop the run it's to create pressure that leads to turnovers with minimal to no blitzing. Yeah smaller guys can be overpowered, but again the job is to not hold gaps. It's a system based on creating interior pressured designed to string running plays wide, or hurry throws leading to turnovers. It's a speed oriented defense that with the right personell is extremely effective. Darwin Walker is a very good interior rusher which is what fits the defense, and will fit well into the rotation. The reason for quicker linemen as opposed to fat boys is to create pressure strictly from your defensive line, in order to keep lb's and db's in coverage and not blitzing. Like any scheme it works if you have the players that fit.
  14. agreed but a case could be made for coles and jericho cotchery is pretty good as well.
  15. Im pretty sure the redskins have all their draft picks for next year so yeah I could see them trading up this year to make sure they don't have picks in next years draft.
  16. no he has 1 punt return for 0 yards and 1 kick return for 17 yards http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/493740
  17. Outside of evans big play capability at the wr position is nill. Price no longer has the deep speed he once had. Reed is a posession type. Sam Aiken is slower then a one legged man in an ass kicking contest and I think is a free agent anyway. Davis is also a free agent. Not to mention roscoe returns punts. Theres's some good corners we could get via the draft so why trade away a good st's player and a guy who has big play capability to fill out depth?
  18. Thank god. Good decision by marv. Get a back in the draft or if sd accepts it a 3rd for turner otherwise a back in the draft.
  19. Meachem will be the 2nd receiver taken after Calvin Johnson due to his speed but too luxury imo unless he's by some weird happening available in the 2nd.
  20. Katelyn (Syracuse, NY): Do you think Buffalo will wait to see if Adrian Peterson falls to them at 12 before dealing for Michael Turner? Trent Modglin: (4:58 PM ET ) If Adrian Peterson falls to 12, I'll swim across Lake Michigan. I think their best bet is to try to trade up or grab someone like Kenny Irons out of Auburn or Lorenzo Booker from FSU later on in the second or third to tandem with the A-Train. And that's exactaly what I'd do before waiting to contact the chargers about turner. I still wouldnt give up 12. I'd take a lb pat willis preferably and then work something out with sd. I still wouldn't give higher then a 3rd for turner though.
  21. Not that I have anything against Poz I'd rather have Jon Beason or rufus alexander
