Best of Luck to Stamer. Quality st's contributer, hope he gets a chance elsewhere. The one position where the Bills seem to have good depth is at lb. Best of Luck to Josh

I agree with that 100%. The Bills have done some good things recently. 2 solid drafts, making the roster younger. Changing the idenity of the team. Trying to the correct the mistake of letting Pat Williams go, by finally bringing in a quality top tier dt. Assuming he's healthy. They still have a ways to go, as far as adding players at certain positions. However. If Edwards is jerked around by the coaching staff, for all the positive the bills have done. It's setting them back another 3 years. It's no good for anyone. I have more then enough patience, to wait it out. Hopefully the Bills do as well. While I don't think Losman would've excelled regardless of circumstance. I can agree with his supporters, on the lack of composure the Bills had with him. Was no good for all parties involved. Hopefully it's different this time around.

Eh I don't think I was trying to be superior. More like calling out bull sh-- when I see it. Sorry, not in the mood, for fart, and johnson pulling jokes. To each their own though. I kinda agree with the bolded part. Although I think, a good quarterback will overcome certain aspects, and will effectively make the team around him better. Take Carson Palmer in Cincy for instance. He's in a terrible situation. Probably anything worse then Losman has had to endure in Buffalo. Yet year after year, because of Palmer that team stays afloat, and in the race for the playoffs. Without him, they'd be a consistent 3-13 type team. Where as someone like Losman. I get the feeling from him, his ceiling is Jake Plummer. Where if he's used absolutely correctly, while minimizing his potential to hurt you. In the exact right offensive system. You can win some games. It doesn't exactly excite me. As far as Edwards goes. Far too early to get a handle, on his potential or lack of. All I know is. Right now he's as effective as Losman. While not a great reason to support him. I find it enough, to support him over the alternative.

With the way the bills rotate defensive linemen, harvey would see a lot of time. I also dont think it's a stretch to say, it wouldnt take long for harvey to replace Kelsay as a starter. Kelsay doesn't really bring anything to the table. It's questionable whether he's an upgrade over a healthy Ryan Denney. Our defensive end rotation is extremely thin. If the bills were to lose Schobel to injury. It would be downright dreadful. Not to mention both Denney and Kelsay, are both coming off injuries. The difference between Harvey, and 2nd-4th rd de's is a lot larger, then the difference between Sweed/Kelly- 2nd-4th rd wr's. It's not a given he'll even be there at 11. If he is, then Harvey should be wearing Royal blue come pick #11.

Lmao wtg ND. In one obscure post you proved the complete absurdity of these Losman vs Edwards threads, and got people insulting about who's rectum releases smell like roses, and who stinks to high heavens. Job well done Side Comment: It is kinda amusing, how 3 of the first 4 replies to the thread came, from some of the biggest JP backers. Take from that what you must.

I like Greer, and think he played well last season. I think a large reason for the poor pass defense, wasnt mcgee or greer, but lack of depth at corner, and safety. Yeah he had a very good game vs Owens, and a solid game vs Chad Johnson. He was awful against Moss, and awful in the game against jacksonville. Im just not sold on him being physical enough, to cover larger wideouts on a consistent basis. However if someone like Will James, can revert back to form. The Bills would have drastically improved their corner depth. The way I look at it. Being a nickle isn't really a demotion. Hell he can even start, and on obvious passing downs, when teams bring out 3-4 wide. Slide greer to the inside. I think you'd maximize his ability.
-
I dont think it's so much knocking greer as utilizing him to the best of his potential. With his speed, and short area quickness. I think he would be the ideal nickelback, and we could get the most out of him in that position. As opposed to having him cover larger more physical wideouts, he'd be lined up on the quicker slot guys, the wes welkers of the league. I think he'd make the most impact in that position, as opposed to working the outside.

On a positive note. WR Adarius Bowman.
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
everytime I've seen Bowman play, he makes plays. The Brandon Marshall comparison is pretty accurate. Regardless of how he times in shorts, and tee shirt I fully believe is overblown. He could be a steal in the 3rd-4th rd. While allowing us to address other needs. Overdrafting a wr early, ins't going to put us any closer to being a team that competes for championships. Better to get compareable talent, later on, while adressing needs on the defensive side of the ball. Where we are still thin. I'm just throwing this out there again. Not to rain on your bowman thread. Another wr I really like is LSU'S Early Doucet. His willingness as a Blocker, ability to break tackles, and yac ability. I think would be a tremendous assest to this offense. The one maddening thing about the bills. Despite the speed of Evans,Parrish. Neither are all that adept at yards after the catch. -
Tipster I understand the frustration with everyone clamoring to be the next comedic genius around here. However I can only speak for myself. I don't hate Losman. Honestly I could care less about him. He's another in a long line of failed quarterbacks, that drapes the nfl past, and present, and certinally the future. He's a nice guy. That's great. Cares about the community. Simply splendid. There should be more athletes that take, that kind of initiative. Rather then the Pacmans, Chris Henry's, Mike Vicks. That sem to take over the headlines. However at the end of the day. I'm gonna judge a athlete, by how well he does "HIS JOB". In this area, JP has been woefully inconsistent. Whatever the excuses for this are. They've been regurgitated ad nauseam. Like a lot of others I've moved on. I hope for Losman's personal sake, he continues being a community kind of guy wherever he ends up. Sports need, more people who care. I don't know the guy past watching him play football, for my favorite team. That's all I can judge him on. In that regard I hope I never see him again, while wishing him the best of luck wherever he ends up.

Superbowl passing trends since 1989
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Fingon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting though only 2 teams that have won the superbowl since 2000 have finished with a top 10 passing offense. Could it be do to modern day defenses, just being faster. The lack of real franchise quarterbacks. Or just more important then anything you need balance. Using your same measurables. These same teams finished in the following in rushing offense. I still say rushing offense is far more important, then passing yards. RANKING OF RUSH OFFENSE 1989: 49ers- 10th 1990: Giants- 4th 1991: Redskins- 7th 1992: Cowboys- 5th 1993: Cowboys- 2nd 1994: Niners- 6th 1995: Cowboys- 2nd 1996: Packers- 11th 1997: Broncos- 4th 1998: Broncos- 2nd 1999: Rams- 5th 2000: Ravens- 5th 2001: Pats- 13th 2002: Bucs- 27th 2003: Pats- 24th 2004: Pats- 7th 2005: Steelers- 5th 2006: Colts- 18th 2007: Giants- 7th Note:14 of the 19 teams finished in top 10 in rush offense. Only 3 of these teams finished lower then 15th. 2 others just outside the top 10. Also No one will ever mistake the Bucs/Ravens as winning relating anything to do with their offensive statistics. If I had time I'd actually be more interested in looking up post season team statistics, to see where teams that won favor heavily. In Rush offense, or pass offense. I'd assume rush offense would stick out like a sore thumb. Also interesting imo to note. That of all the 42 superbowls. I believe only the 2006 colts, hold the distinction of being the only team in NFL history to win the superbowl with the leagues worst rush defense. Having a passing game is nice. It sells tickets. It sure looks pretty. It sure helps your running game. So teams don't consistently stack the line. It's way more "exciting" then grind it out, down and dirty in the trenches football. At the end of the day though. Balance is key. With a huge bias towards rush offense, and the truth that Defense wins championships. -
I don't get the Flacco love fest. He decided to not go to Pitt, so he can play at Delaware, all because the guy didn't think he'd beat out TYLER F'N PALKO for the starting qb job? If I was a gm, regardless of physical talent, that would send up some serious red flags. Overdrafting because you can throw far, is how qb's like Kyler Boller became top 10 picks.

Because a large group of disgruntled JP Losman fan boys, need their own little corner to sub consciously mourn the unfortunate failure, of their hero?

This is gonna be fun. There's a thread of people bashing Edwards for showing up/not being in Buffalo before hand. The side by side comparison, when this thread reaches that should be amusing. All this stuff is overblown. It's great some people show up to workout. One would assume they'd work out regardless. Show up when it's mandatory, and be ready when its time to play. -
Are we becoming a mirror of the Detroit Lions?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to AKC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
awesome post. Even though I disagree with some parts. I question if our dt rotation can be anything over average. Our de rotation is terrible. I do agree past dorsey or ellis there really isn't a dt worth taking at 11. The only dline player worth taking at 11 is Harvey. We could grab a dt in the 3rd or 4th someone like dre moore red bryant, Ahtyba Rubin. There will be solid dt's to add later on. Lucky for the bills though a premiere pass rusher should be available, rather then overdrafting one of these mediocre wideouts. -
Trent Edwards in the house....
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to RayFinkle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not really he practiced with Tim Carter mostly since Plaxico was down in Miami training with Shockey at The U. It was a pretty big deal at the time. A lot of the media round here was over how that was setting a bad example. I wouldnt say ELI has exactly lit the world on fire either. He made some plays when he had to. The giants were where they were cause of defense. What exactly was Edwards suppouse to do? Go fishing with Turk? -
Brilliant quotable
-
You people are far too obsessed with height. Chad Johnson has been one of the top 5 wr's in the league the past several seasons. Yet you wouldn't take him, so you can draft Malcolm Kelly or Limas Sweed? Johnson has averaged 1339 yards 88 catches and 8 tds a season since 2002. Yet he wouldn't be an upgrade to our wr problem? The absurdity of that is mind-boggling.

I Give The Saints Front Office Credit...
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Coughlin seriously changed up his style of coaching, from frozen rigid, to flexible and willing to listen to his players. For the better as well. Shockey was part of the anti coughling contingent that infested the giants locker room. -

One other thing. Having an offense if the trade goes thru that will feature Drew Brees, Colston, Shockey, as well as David Patten, last years 1st rd pick Robert Meachem, Devery Henderson, throw in Bush, and "Mcallister" if he can bounce back. That's some serious good firepower. Say what you want about Reggie, as a "runningback". There's little negative to his game as a receiver out of the backfield. Only Brian Westbrook, and Tomlinson are on par with him in that area. -

I think a lot of Shockeys problems were Coughlin, and having a very young qb. There's little doubt Shockey is a beast, when motivated. I don't think it's hard to motivate him. Maybe the best "All around" Te sans Jason Witten. Payton was with the giants Shockey's rookie year, so I'm sure he knows what he's getting into. I still think a lot of the suppoused issues with shockey are the NYC Media overblowing the situation. -
If we're gonna run one of our ends out of town, can we at least make sure it's not our only good pass rusher?

Pressure on the QB>>>anything else.
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well said. Stroud should be a much welcome addition, but he's what 30 now? After him we have potential with McCargo, and past that our interior dline is weak. At defensive end it's horribly weak. With just 1 bonafide pass rusher in Schobel. Kelsay/Denney ideally should be your 3rd and 4th options at defensive end. You can pretty much mix and mash one for the other. Denney sadly is probably a better all around player then Kelsay. Better against the run, stronger, and is similar in pass rush statue. Neither of them keep opposing qb's up late at night. Both are coming off injuries. Adding a natural beast of a pass rusher like Harvey, would drastically improve the end position, as well as depth. Add another defensive tackle, in later rounds as well, and we may be on to something. This dline needed the same kind of makeover the oline got. Stroud/Spencer Johnson are a nice start hopefully it continues. Take Harvey, address wr/te in 2nd/3rd rd.
