  1. I probably couldn't have gotten much better for shockey. To move up 17 spots helps me target a better positional value player then at the end of the 1st. Besides with such a deep draft a te. We're sure we can get very good value in a later round. It's all about bpa for the giants, with not a hell of a lot of needs.
  2. lol yeah sorry for not clarifying that. I definitely did not mean as a receiver. I think he makes it as a return man. I'd like to see him return kicks this year too. Not that Mcgee isn't good. I'd rather see him just as a corner now though.
  3. early for this stuff but eh 1. Jason Peters 2. Roscoe 3. Schobel
  4. The best pure pass rusher/best athlete in the draft overrated. His 22 1/2 sacks 30.5 tackles behind the los the last 2 seasons disagree. Gholston will be a monster, and the best player to come out of this draft. Glenn Dorsey a close 2nd assuming he can stay healthy.
  5. 1. Lawrence Jackson 2. Martellus Bennett 3. Early Doucet 4. Dre Moore 5. Erin Henderson
  6. seriously. Or name one playoff, and or superbowl team winner or loser that had a defense, built primarily off fa additions.
  7. The #1 pick. De Vernon Gholston. Way to much versatility. Matchup nightmare for opposing offenses.
  8. The bears could do that, but they're just as likely to go oline/rb/dt or possibly Brian Brohm.
  9. Like I said I would not complain in the least. Schmitt is a tenacious lead blocker. If that's the kind of O the bills want to run, with a traditional fullback. Then go for it. You know what you're getting with him. For me I'm more of a fan, of the Larry Centers type fb, compared to the traditional fullback. I wouldn't lose sleep over it though. Knowing some heads were gonna be busted in the 08 season.
  10. Not a fan of drafting fullbacks, but otherwise that would solve our biggest needs right off the bat. If it went down that way. I wouldn't complain one bit. Cottam although he didnt start much. Is a good athlete who could develop into a good pro player.
  11. I haven't watched long, as much as I did Harvey/Gholston. Can't really say. What I have seen from him is he's relentless. He got I think 15-16 sacks playing end in a 3-4. His overall game. Can't comment. Gholston is a freak. Where as Harvey is your traditional 4-3 left end. Gholston played end/olb for the buckeyes. He's fast, quick, strong, smart. He's the total friggen package. A guy like Gholston has more value then any defensive player in this draft. I think the best overall prospect this year. He doesn't just look the part. He is the part. I think it comes down to their versatility. There's a lot of tweener type ends/olbs. Very few good 4-3 ends. A few situational pass rushers. That much better then Harvey? Maybe. Much more valuable, because of their versatility? definitely
  12. 1. The 2007 Florida Gators had 9 different defensive starts from the 06 NC team. 2. Of those 9 starters 6 of them were front 7 players. 3 defensive linemen and 3 lb's. 3. Derrick Harvey has 20 1/2 sacks in 18 games. A little over a sack a game. Combined Ryan Denney/Chris Kelsay have 32.5 sacks in 79 games. Not even a half sack a game. Yes it's comparing nfl-college, but Harvey not only gets pressure on qb's. 4. On 47 rush attempts against him during the 07 season. Opposing rbs actually lost yardage. 5. When judging how ones game as an end translates into the pros. These are 3 aspects you should even consider before sacks. 1. How quick off the snap is he. A dend, who can't get out of his stance, before a tackle can kick step and balance if virtually useless as a pass rusher. Unless he can make up for this weakness, with very solid technique. 2. How well does he defend the run/Play with leverage. There's a tendancy for tall pass rushing ends to simply play high, and rely on their speed, as means to excell at the next level. Some of them, are so naturally gifted. It can work for a time. After a few years, it catches up to them. See Kearse, Javon. The #1 rule of playing perimeter defense is maintain your lane. Never rush to hard upfield too fast leaving your lane exposed to sweeps/counters/reverses. Unless it's a a pass play. Never crash to fast down the line. 3. Closing burst. Simply put it's the absolute difference between a hurried throw, or a qb sitting pretty in the pocket. You can even get by, with mediocre initial quickness, if you have exceptional closing burst. The very good ones have it. It's easy to spot. It's how guys like Schobel, can get caught seemingly running to far upfield, then in the next moment pick up a sack. It's why guys like Chris Kelsay, will never be a difference maker. He doesn't have the closing burst, to hurry throws, or pile up stats. A guy like strahan, isn't as fast as he used to be. He's never lost his ability to close on a play. It's why he's still such a force. Just some of the small things I think are essential for any nfl caliber defensive end to have. 3 attributes I think Derrick Harvey possess. Take his former teammate Jarvis Moss for instance. When simply judging potential. One would point out that Moss would make a quality pass rusher. He's got long arms, he's quick, with good closing burst. Jarvis Moss is not as strong as Harvey. He's more one dimensional. Doesn't play with good leverage, and is easily ridden out of plays. Someone like Moss needed, a well rounded end across from him, in order to bulk up stats. He needed Harvey more then Harvey needed him. There's just certain fundamental flaws, that you can spot in a players game. If Harvey was an end who didnt use leverage, and simply was just quick. A player who didn't play the run. I wouldn't sound the trumpets for the guy. I would just as fast toot the horn of a player like quentin groves. I look at Harvey, and I see a guy who can be a starter for years to come. At a position where the Bills are aging fast. Again vs the need of a complimentary wr, where there's value to be found in later rounds. Who on the importance factor isn't even in the same hemisphere.
  13. Krumrie... Another case of a good player, who turned out to be a rather craptastic coach. Did he have any value besides yelling a lot? He may get lucky in KC, as they luck into Sedric Ellis or Glen Dorsey. "Hey tom this guy with t rex arms beat me in a slap contest let's draft him" "With their pick in the 3rd rd the Buffalo bills select Tiny Tim Anderson."
  14. Mel Gibson as Tom Mullen- Ransom GIVE ME BACK MY SON!! and 40 improvs of GIVE ME BACK MY SON
  15. Excellent choice I'd also like to add Nicholson as Jack Torrance in The Shining
  16. 1. Young Vito 2. John Quincy Archibald 3. Indiana Jones 4. Sonny LoSpecchio 5. Butch Cassidy
  17. lmao @ Thanks for linking that. Gold
  18. No problem. It's actually not a dumb question. It is actually an issue that some qb's especially those who fumble a lot have. I may disagree about personal preference in qb's, but we're still all bills fans hoping for the best.
  19. Gosh darnit. remind me again how well Derek Anderson and Eli played in those conditions. Cause despite the loss I dont remember either of those qb's "out performing" Edwards in the least. Infact Eli was entirely worse. I don't know what anyone expected Edwards to do in those conditions. When 2 qb's, on vastly superior teams, with superior skill position players, put up compareable/worse stats. Edwards vs Anderson Derek Anderson- 15 Dec 16 BUF W 8-0 57.1 9 24 137 5.7 25 0 0 Sacked 1 time for a loss of 7 yards Trent Edwards- 15 Dec 16 @ CLE L 0-8 50.6 13 33 124 3.8 21 0 0 sacked 0 times no fumbles The big difference. The height difference in wr's. The browns willingness to push the ball downfield. Forced Buffalo to only keep the traditional 7 in the box. Jamal Lewis then ripped us up. Buffalo meanwhile attempted barely anything downfield, until the end of the game, when we promptly moved the ball into scoring territory. I maintain to this day. Our coaches cost us this game, not Edwards. Cleveland sat 9 in the box, knowing buffalo wouldn't try anything downfield. A te in this sort of situation would've worked wonders. Edwards vs Eli Trent Edwards note- ints listed before tds. 16 Dec 23 NYG L 21-38 42.8 9 26 161 6.2 42 3 2 sacked 3 times loss of 24 yards 2 fumbles none lost Eli Manning- again ints listed before tds 16 Dec 23 @ BUF W 38-21 32.2 7 15 111 7.4 39 2 0 sacked 2 times for a loss of 17 yards 5 fumbles. This game was dominated, by weather, as neither team could score moving into the wind. The Conditions went from 50 and nice to about 20 with about 40-45mph wind gusts snow/rain swirling around. That was in a matter of a mere hour and a half from start of the game to the end of the 2nd quarter. The Giants won in absolute spite of Eli during this game. On the strength of Jacobs, and Ahmad Bradshaw, and 2 early 4th quarter picks, with the Bills going into the wind. Statistically even "The worst player in bad weather" ever Trent Edwards, edges out superbowl mvp Eli Manning. In one of the worst wind weather games I've seen in quite some time. BTW Culpepper fumbled a lot because he had small hands or once every 38 times he touched the ball pass + rush att Edwards in his rookie season fumbled once every 70 times he touched the ball. I understand fully Edwards has to learn to play in bad weather conditions, if he's going to be the long term answer at qb. Let's try to keep some perspective though, and call a spade a spade. The conditions in both games were favorable to none of the teams bills/giants/browns, in the respective games. Was Edwards performance good? Hardly.. Was it in line with said other qb's during these games? Damn skippy it was.
  20. I've beaten it to death, so I won't rehash my opinion on why I want it to be harvey. I expect the bills to take a corner. Went with Rodgers Cromartie. I think he's the best man cover corner in this draft. We need a corner you can leave on an island, and not have to rely on over the top help in a zone all the time.
  21. Na you passed the torch thru her olympic rings. The other guy gets the benefit of the doubt
  22. No I wouldn't. Last year of Crowells contract. Who know what kawika mitchell we'll be getting. The one who played solid football for the gmen last year. Or the waste of space that played in KC. I'm a lot more worried about that. Then I am about Stroud/Spencer Johnson. It's also really hard to find a lb, coming into the pro's who's exceptional in pass coverage. Which is what Rivers main responsibility at USC was. As well as being a fantastic tackler, with great range. I wouldn't be dissapoined with Rivers. Although I'm hoping for Harvey.
  23. Look for the return of physical cornerback play. IMO, that's a great thing.
  24. Exactly my concerns as well. I think Schobel can still get us 8 sacks or so a season for another few years. As long as he maintains his speed I think he'll still be productive. I have zero problem with Schobel at least for another 3-5 years. Kelsay/Denney is exactly that. What you see is what you get. It's quite underwhelming. You should never pass up the opportunity to draft a pass rusher, when the opportunity presents itself. Especially if it's a need area. For the Bills I think it's damn near dire.
