This team NEEDS PLAYMAKERS Period!
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to firstngoal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah he is. Rbs with track speed are great and all. It's not something the bills need. Right now the bills biggest problems are defensive end/quarterback/c/te. The problem with quarterback is the answer is not on the roster, and we won't be in position to grab a Matt Stafford. Anyone who think Edwards is captain checkdown. You do not want the bills to go after Sam Bradford. That's all we would need screen passes in buffalo weather that fall short. You probably have to bring in a Cassell or someone to compete with edwards, and if doesnt work out next year then draft another qb. This is the year to fix the dend position. There will be about 5-7 good ones. Personally I'm hoping to Selvie or Orakpo. Our cb's are more then ok. Infact they're flat out good. McKelvin is gonna be a player in this league. Mcgee has quickly stepped up into one of the better corners in the league. The front 7 is the real problem. What a sobering season. -
I dont get it. Lindell has 48 consecutive field goals inside of 40 yards... THAT'S 48 CONSECUTIVE Field goals inside of 40 yards. Is it too much to ask to try to get into that range? I mean sh-- even if Edwards was too to throw down the field again. Throw a swing pass. The way Lynch and Jackson ate up that defense there was a good chance we could've gotten 5-10 yards closer maybe more. Just unreal

Don't look now, but the Tennessee Titans

Hoping for the bills to rebound aside for a second. Seeing the titans go 19-0 and Kerry Collins beating the giants in the sb would be kinda amusing. -
Who on the Bills roster HATES losing
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Shamrock's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
judging from Pro football weekly. Just Whitner http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/The+W...+It/default.htm Buffalo Nov. 13, 2008 By Matt Sohn Bills' lack of inspiring leadership holding them back Coaches often stress the importance of not getting too high or too low in response to whatever situation a team finds itself in. Dick Jauron and the Bills are doing that well … too well, in fact. In talking to sources close to the club, the lack of emotion and fiery leadership both on the coaching staff and on the roster is keeping Buffalo from escaping the doldrums of their three-game losing streak. After being praised for his calm in the pocket in a terrifically efficient start to the season, Trent Edwards' measured stoicism has reflected the offensive stagnation he has directed. Meanwhile, Donte Whitner's absence with a shoulder injury has left the defense without more than just it's most talented defensive back. “Donte's really the only guy this team can rally around,” one source said. “Without him, there's nobody on this team who will make sure you're busting your tail out there.” -
Bills would have taken Harvey over McKelvin
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to 2003Contenders's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Harvey isn't doing much this year. 1.5 sacks 9 tackles and a pick. Like most young de's it will probably take a year or 2 before he comes on strong. -
what we learned from Jets-NE last night
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to bostonbillsfan2008's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What I learned is that whoever wins the afc east, just send money under the table to Bernard Pollard. When Brady comes back, and the pats are healthy next year. They're just going to steamroll through everyone again. -

A team with an obvious bleeding need for a pass rusher would've taken the best one available had he been well available at their pick? Shocking I believe the top 2 defensive players on the bills board in this draft were Harvey and Keith Rivers. When both of them went early they took a need at corner. -
I have no feelings about that game other then if theres a team Id like to see win less then ne. Well they just won
-
he really hasn't done much this year. It's been underwhelming for Moss's talent and at times he's flat out dogged it. Divisional seeding wise. It's one of the biggest plays I've seen him come up with in quite some time. He's had some terrific moments. In context of tight divisional races. I dont think he's come up with much more clutch plays then that
-
Randy Moss after doing nothing all year comes up with the biggest play of his career
-
The pats finally decide to bring pressure at favre and it results in 2 sacks in 3 plays

There's multiple reasons. Why it's happening. Everyone knows the reasons. Lack of talent on the interior line. Because of injuries/poor pro personell evaluation. Could be scheme issues with coaching. A NFL line should be able to pick up a basic 3/4 man rush, and line stunts. The Bills look like they've never even practice against these things. Defensively the bills simply lack talent in their front 7. Their lb's are uber stiff in coverage, Their de's are just not all that athletic or talented. Denney has a very slow 1st step. Kelsay looks every bit the overpriced backup caliber player he is. His containment is worse then Denney's, and has a poor 1st step and closing burst. We can plead with Perry Fewell all we want to blitz more. Except the lb's are not good at blitzing. We don't want to blitz the secondary all that often, because the depth in the secondary is poor. Defensively more then anything I believe it's a talent issue. The problem being, we'll be drafting too far up to get an athletic freak like george selvie or rey maualuga that this defense desperately lacks. It's not an issue that can be fixed this year. The only thing they can do, is play in a shell conservative defense to contain the bleeding. While hoping the offense picks up the running game. Otherwise we're in store for a lot more of these games where teams kill 8-10 minutes off the clock with a 4th quarter drive.
-
what about the bills the last few weeks give you this idea they'll reach 9-4? Their stellar rushing game? The ability of the offensive line to pick up line stunts and blitzes The ability of the defense to get 3 and outs and not give up clock consuming quarter length drives? the ability of the defense to get a pass rush? To force turnovers? Ability of other receivers to step up opposite evans? Just curious. It's not needless bitching. It's rightful criticism. Yeah on paper there are winable games left. The Bills have shown nothing to my eyes that makes me say they're gonna do such and such. Feel free to disagre

yeah not every team is a big old bag of puss when facing ne
-
Yeah I like watching rookies contribute for the pats/jets
-
Well kudos to the jets. they're not a bunch of pansies when playing the almighty patriots.
-
It's pct of passes thrown a receivers way that they caught. I'm assuming he got that from footballoutsiders.com. In layman's terms it means we're missing a key cog. A lot of people may not think much of Josh Reed. He was however on pace for about 60 catches and almost 700 yards. He also has a very good rate of 1st down receptions. We lost a valuable #2 wr, with no one to replace him. I dont think it's any coincidence now that reed is out even our rb's who at one point led the afc in receptions among rb's have now fallen off. Parrish and Hardy are not up to snuff to what Reed was bringing this offense. Someone who was actually taking pressure off of evans

COTY CANDIDATES WHOSE YOURS?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Another- Mike Smith HC- Atlanta falcons Rookie qb who looks like he's been in the league for 4 years already. I thought Matt Ryan was gonna be good, but damn. 1st year starting rb who backed up LT. Turner flashed potential behind lt for a few years. He's turning out to live up to that potential behind what was considered to be not a very good offenseive line wr's who underachieved for years due to apparantly bad quarterback play A suspect defense who's playing pretty damn good. John Abraham is actually healthy this year, and his talent is shining thru. Maybe a candidate for DPOY. Getting solid play across the board in the frony 7 and their secondary. Lawyer Milloy is still playing at a high level. Yeah I'm gonna go with Mike Smith for COTY -
Who on the Bills roster HATES losing
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Shamrock's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Honestly judging from the last game Ko Simpson and terrence mcgee. Those were the only bills who seemed to give a damn. Simpson laid some very nice hits on Randy Moss, with little fear of being burned deep. Mcgee had good coverage on the most talented wr in the game. It was a mildly refreshing pace, from the 56-10 shellacking they received last year. -
What happened to Spencer Johnson?

What's wrong with the defense? Our defensive front 7 is woefully under talented -
JP 2006 age 25 vs. TE 2008 age 25
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Randy O'Connell's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The fact that Losman was already in the league for several years may have something to do with the coaching staffs decision to move on. The difference in stats is not much . I do think the rate of sacks is a big difference. Yes I do think Edwards moves better within the pocket then Losman, as well as seeing the whole field better. You want me to admit he's no better then JP thru their first 18 games. Ok thru their first 18 games. The difference between JP and Trent is nill. Except sacks, and completion pct and yards per attempt. Which Edwards is better. Losman has a stronger arm. Now do you feel better? -
JP 2006 age 25 vs. TE 2008 age 25
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Randy O'Connell's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with most of this post. I'm not buying the concussion issue. He had arguably his past game after the bye week against the chargers. It's the lack of talent in the trenches that's hurting this team more then anything.
