Well the fact that this teams defensive captain is pound for pound their worst of the starting 11, outside of Keith Ellison is enough to make one mad.

Dansby isn't really under the "radar", so much as he plays in Arizona and not a lot of fans watch the cards. I'm pretty sure Dansby will get a hell of a lot of money amd he's earned it. Considering what the jets paid Calvin Pace last year. Dansby's and Suggs contract are gonna make it look like a bargain.

About as brilliant as the non move to trade for Alex Brown when the bears were looking to move him, then re-signing chris kelsay.
-
Fixed. I gurantee this team is going nowhere until they replace Kelsay as a starting defensive end.

Trents problem like every Bills qb post Kelly is the same. The Bills have no weapons to attack different areas of the field. Outside of Josh Reed who's working the middle of the field? Where's the guy to take pressure off of Evans. Just cause the deep ball is sexy to watch on television, doesn't make it a prudent move, when you're forcing it into double coverage. I'd rather the quarterback take the safe route short-intermediate level throw. The Pats lived off this stuff for years. Then they went out and got Ben Watson, who with his speed, and athletic ability had to be respected as a threat down the seem. You can't just go "Well we have Evans and Parrish where's the deep ball? When all safeties have to do is shadow over the top and drop lb's into the short area zones to neutralize Josh Reed. It doesn't matter who the quarterback is. Every good offense in the nfl today, has a receiving threat at the tight end position. The Bills have a bunch of trash. We'll continue to see the same safe check down display, with no big play potential until a threat at te is brought in.

I kind of agree. Maualuga is a great prospect at mlb. He's an attacking style lb, who gets after the ball carrier. At the nfl level he probably wont be as effective in coverage. However he would be a big upgrade to our lb core. He's a better nfl prospect then POZ. We missed out on the best of the USC Lb's when The Bengals took Keith Rivers last year. I'm not of the common held belief that poz can play olb. Personally I think he's too slow to the ball, with limited range. I'd keep him at mlb, cause while not a playmaker we could do worse. I'd like Clint Sintim out of Virgina to fill that rush backer role we desperately need.

What's being said the jets have their coaching candidates tiered in 1st tier and 2nd tier Their 1st tier guys are Spags, Russ Grimm, and Rex Ryan. Their 2nd tier choices are Brian Schottenheimer,Ron Meeks, Bill Callahan, Billick, and Jagodzinski. I think Ryan would be a great fit for them. He uses a lot of different personell looks with the Ravens defense, and on a smaller scale version could do that with the jets. With Gholston playing the Suggs role, of hands down end, and occasional drop back linebacker. Same goes with a player like Bryan Thomas. If Ryan ends up there I expect that personell plays into what he generally likes to do as a defensive coordinator. They could afford to keep a lot of their current players intact, and get use out of the majority of them. With a guy like Steve Spagnuolo, I think that's a whole new personell overturn, trying to find players who fit that Jim Johnson style attacking 4-6 hybrid d. Should be interesting

Chase Coffman for TE. 2nd or 3rd round.
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Depends will a team with an allpro te pick coffman for no reason, in a trade up after trading away all their prior picks in an attempt to sell the farm to win? There was zero reason for the browns to trade up and pick Rucker. The only thing that made less sense was the Redskins taking fred davis. The cowboys ended up taking the te I was hoping the bills would get in the 2nd Martellus Bennett, but they got use out of him. To come up with almost 300 yards and 4 tds as the #2 te behind jason witten, on a team with TO, Witten, Marion Barber, and Crayton is pretty impressive. Regardless the bills in my lifetime have never had a te worth a damn. Personally I'd prefer Gresham. The easiest way to improving quarterback play no matter who you have behind center is to get an athlete who can work the middle of the field. Even better if he's a speed demon from the position. -
In fairness to Gholston. He was/is a defensive end. The Jets tried to force a square peg into a round hole with that pick. He would be much better served in a 4-3 scheme, as a hands down defensive end.

How did we lose Jim Leonhard ?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to gsurdam's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bunch of Jauron's on this board praising Leonhard. Leonhard is a backup player and will be a backup again next year when Dawan Landry comes back. Did everyone suddenly forget how often awful Leonhard was? Routinely out of position, and overmatched do his lack of physical skills. The only reason he's looked decent is because of the defense he's on. He's still out of position and overmatched as a starting safety. It's true what they say water covers 3/4ths of the world Ed Reed covers the rest. -
So much so that 6 qb's in the postseason had 20 tds or less. Defense not only wins championships. It wins games period AFC QB's Roethlisberger 17 tds Pennington 19 tds Kerry Collins 12 tds Joe Flacco 14 tds NFC QBS Tavaris Jackson- 9 TDS Jake Delhomme-15 tds Outside of Manning/Rivers no qb was the direct reason his team made it to the post season. The easiest way to build a playoff team starts and ends with defense. Not the search for a so called "elite quarterback". By and large the qb play in this league is average. At the end of the day Defense and the run game mean everything.

Darren Sproles is a free agent
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to THE GASH STATION's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It comes from Tomlinson breaking down and becoming a shell of his former self. Constantly nagged up with an injury. When they show him on the sideline with his coat and helmet on sititng on the bench and his visor. It looks like a guy who's pouting. The guy is on the serious decline. For the suppoused "best rb" in the league. He's soft when it comes to big games. His excuses for sitting out last year, and now this year. The chargers would be better off without him at this point. -

I dunno about starting Sproles. However a 1st for Tomlinson at this stage would be highway robbery for the chargers. They could draft a rb to give them what tomlinson gives them at this point in time. Besides very few rbs nowadays receive a boat load of work. -
Sd finished with the 31st ranked pass defense in the league. 27th in passing tds allowed. 30th in 1st downs allowed per pass attempt, and 21st in net yards gained per pass attempt. Bills were 13th ranked pass d. 4th in tds allowed. 12th in 1st downs allowed per pass. 19th in net yards allowed per pass. Eric Weddle is an active player around the ball, but their secondary is routinely victimized. Even without merriman they still have a much more active front 7 then we do.

At this point he has far more value to the chargers then Mr Pouty face Tomlinson. He's a fun rb to watch. -
If you are still watching the game...
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to High Mark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not really sd is better then their 8-8 record, and Phillip Rivers has emerged into quite the leader -
I may have to think more about it, but still would've took Bunkley one of the cogs in the eagles #3 ranked defense and #4 in points. #4 rush d in the nfl. #4 in yards per attempt and 2nd in rushing tds allowed

How about Farve to Buffalo for a one year deal?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For that reason alone I'd like the Bills to consider it -

MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
12 of those 22 tds came in the first 4 games. 6 in the zona game. Post bye week Favre had 5 games without a td pass. 18 picks to just 10 tds. Not once during the season did Favre throw over 300 yards. He didnt break 250 since week 11 at NE. He did not win games for the jets -

The guy was awful, and defenses no longer respect him. The guy outside of throwing it dustin keller was almost useless as a quarterback. Cotchery's production was down pretty far, and favre floated a lot of passes. For a team that often criticized Pennington for his less then ideal arm strength. The so called "Gotham Gunslinger" look like he was throwing packets of tissues. The guy they let go for this abomination, well we know the story. The jets didnt win more games because of Favre. They added a lot of offseason pieces, who for a time hid their decencies. Got a Great year out of Thomas Jones. Once Jones, and Kris Jenkins production went down, Favre was incapable of leading the jets to wins, let alone points.
