  1. I'm pretty sure after 2 or 3 times he would play containment on an end around instead of crashing upfield. Probably a better pass rusher as well
  2. I dont know about all this, but the title of your thread is the only verifiable factual aspect. Kurt Warner is a possible future HOF quarterback. Chris Kelsay is a guy who stole a bunch of money from Ralph, and knows this is the only team in the league that's dumb enough to let him start, without bringing in legit competition. Captain Kurt is a Winner. Kelsay is a soft lousy football player, with a big paycheck.
  3. Yeah except for keeping Kelsay and getting rid of Fletcher, Williams and Winfield they've done ok. Fletcher and Williams should've been kept. Fletcher was a much better fit at MLB then Poz is and probably will be. Fletcher may be undersized, but he was much more reliable in coverage. Yeah he's aging, but it created a hole that didn't need to be created at the time. That's the story of the Bills, just like in a few years when Lynch's contract is up we'll draft another 1st rd rb, or when Mcgee or McKelvin leave another 1st rd db. Instead of keeping key players and improving weak areas. The Bills have forced themselves into bad contracts with their own players and 2nd tier free agents.
  4. there's a simple way to beat zone coverages. Get a receiving te to split the seems, breaking the umbrella in half. When your most reliable intermediate receivers are Josh Reed, and your backup rb, you're gonna have issues throwing the ball.
  5. I thought Johnson was decent, and a bit better then I expected. Obviously he's not a starting caliber player, but then again Kyle Williams probably isn't either. In an ideal world we would find a legit dt to start next to Stroud and have Williams/Johnson be the rotational guys, giving us one of the better dt rotations we've had since Fat Pat and Big Sam, with Ron Edwards and Banan in rotation. As well as getting a defensive end. Hopefully the Bills don't create more holes, by cutting a decent player
  6. Eh they can keep Tomlin. I'll settle for Dick Lebeau
  7. Defense trumps offense yet again. Steelers over Cards. Not that the cards don't have a good d that's capable of playing well, but I expect the steelers d to rattle the cards.
  8. The pats have lost coaches over the years with little to no difference. The loss of Thomas Dimitroff and Pioli the last 2 years may start to show up down the line, in the larger scope of things. The coaching staff will be negligible.
  9. The Jets may not have the Ravens level of defensive talent, but a lot of it is about attitude, and philosophy. The jets had to overturn their roster from Herm's Tampa 2 defense, and bring in the players to run Mangini's 3-4. The problem with Mangini's 3-4 is he runs that Belichick defense that is conservative in nature. Basically a bend but don't break philosophy. The difference between the jets/ne? The Pats had a lot of front 7 talent over the years in Seymour/Wilfork/Warren, Colvin/Vrabel etc etc. It's a conservative scheme that relied on the talent of the players to creature pressure, rather then forcing pressure through blitz packages. Rex Ryan switched up his schemes running a 3-4 and a 4-3 While the jets don't have the players we all know from the Ravens d there is some talent there. Kris Jenkins/Shaun Ellis are able to play in both schemes. Although there's legit questions about how well Jenkins can play nt in a 3-4. They have a versatile lb core with thomas/pace/harris, and gholston I believe they'll try to use him like the Ravens used suggs. Occasionaly at lb, but the majority of the time as a hands down dend. The Jets have a very good corner in Revis, and a good safety. While he's no Ed Reed Kerry Rhodes is no slouch. They have players capable of running a more agressive defense which Rex Ryan will employ. Meanwhile we get to watch another year of conservative wait for the ball to come to you defense.
  10. Of course Bills fans would have a problem with collision hits in football. We don't have any defensive players, who can hit like that. Personally I find it to be dissapointing. The Playoffs have been a rather somber reminder, just how far away defensively we are, from actual good teams.
  11. Real Answer- George Catavalos Db coach 24 years in the NFL 3rd with Bills. Was with the Panthers early on in their tenure when they went to the NFC championship in their 2nd year. DL Coach Bill Kollar 20th year in the NFL 3rd with Bills. Had success with the Rams and Falcons. In 01 when the rams made the superbowl and 98 when the Falcons made the superbowl.
  12. I say we need a good receiving te, and to run the ball more. There's no reason this team should be spreading the field with 4-5 wide when we only have 2 viable receiving options at wr. Play to the strengths of the offense. In the words of Marcus Stroud, just run the !@#$ing ball
  13. Like I said I would take Rogers over Stroud. Yeah he had questions, about motivation, but when he wants to, he can ball. I live in New Jersey, and watched the jets pretty much all season. Jenkins was not the same player at the end of the year that he was in the beginning of the year. They routinely started taking him out on passing downs, and he became ineffective as a presence in the run game. There's concern among fans here that he's not a 3-4 nose tackle. He's in no circumstance a better player then stroud. Believe me I watch far more then just Bills games. I occasionaly want to see what good defensive football looks like. Something Buffalo hasn't had in about 10 years. However Stroud is the best player on our defensive line, hopefully the contract is a non issue.
  14. Tripplett wasn't a high effort captain who tried really hard. Kelsay is the proverbial kid who got picked last to play kickball. He couldn't kick very far, couldnt run very fast, and couldn't field the ball, but he just liked to have fun out there. God I hope they find someone to replace him
  15. No they wouldn't. It's funny when Bills fans say <insert scrub> is a good tight end. It's just that being Bills fans, most of us have no idea, what a good tight end plays like.
  16. He wasn't? Watch more, listen to ESPN less. Jenkins was good to start the year, and as the season wore on, he folded down the stretch. He became neutralized by the middle-end of the season, and was easily pushed around in the jets 3-4 scheme, leading to questions about whether or not he's suited to be a nose tackle. As Far as Rogers goes. Rogers had a terrible start to the year, and took him time to adjust. He played better as the season wore on. Push comes to shove I'd take Rogers over Stroud. Jenkins ehh not so much.
  17. HEH Byrant Johnson. I guess being subjected to "He signed....no wait....no yes.....no wait...no yes....oh god damnit" again for a week isn't the worst thing in the world.
  18. Solid veteran presence at wideout. Good blocking wr, and could be a legit mentor to the other wideouts. His best days have passed him by, but he's a better wr then roscoe parrish, and steve johnson, and hardy at this time.
  19. Not really. 2 of those 3 teams were 2 of the worst teams in the league. Personally though I'm not a fan of the tampa 2. I don't like conservative defenses. It's a defense that relies on everyone doing their correct job in a given zone, keeping everything in front relying on their front 4 to produce pressure. The problem with these defense. Is it's better suited to be paired with an explosive offense. Like they say the focus of the tampa 2 is when you have a lead to tee off on the quarterback. Take a team like the bears for example. A very good defense. A lot of good playmakers. The problem is a team like that, and the Bills will play a lot of low scoring games. Where the defense just can't afford to give up time consuming drives. They're vunerable to quick slants inbetween zones and a strong running game. I'm more of a fan of the Jim Johnson philosophy of defense. Play your gaps, and swarm to the ball, and force the offense into playing one half of the field on 3rd downs by completely shutting off the field of view with pressure from your dline,lb's, and db's.
  20. Alex Van Chubby probably ate the worms
  21. All he needs is a shovel, and to go fishing with Alex Van Pelt
  22. Off the top of my head. We played against KC who ran a tampa 2 defense. That was their base defense. It's kind of a vague question though, as almost all teams play a cover 2 defense. It's simply a form of coverage. KC was the only team with that as their base defense though, that we played this year. Very few teams nowadays play a strict scheme 3-4,4-3, tampa 2 or otherwise. Even the Bills moved away from this. Teams like Baltimore/NE are perfect examples. While they run a base 3-4, it's pretty much interchangeable between that and the 4-3. Baltimore plays a lot of a 4-4 defense, where they use suggs as a d end. Ne uses a monster 4-3, with a dline of seymour/warren/wilfork/green. The better defenses around the league tend to have versatility between schemes.
  23. Peterson took over the chiefs in 1989. In that timespan they won all of 3 playoff games, and made the afc championship once. His drafts for the most part have been terrible. Without Joe Montana he would've had all of 1 playoff win under his resume. You would think in 19 years on the job he'd have a bit better draft resume, as well as made an attempt to get a franchise qb.
  24. Sure if you discount their 5 lombardi trophies and above .500 franchise winning pct
