Bills high on Anderson
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to buffalo mike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think it will be. Yes our run defense will drop a few notches however I believe in todays nfl it's critical to have a dt who can collapse the pocket and bring pressure from the inside, Especially against pocket passers. If Edwards or Anderson can bring the interior rush aspect that pat williams couldn't I think our defense will actually be better. -
Jets New Offensive Coordinator Mike Heimerdinger
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to MrLocke's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Mike Heimerdinger is the completly wrong offensive coordinator for the NYJ. Herm Edwards likes a real conservative methodical approach. Heimerdinger brings a vertical style agrresive passing game. Chad Penningtons strength is short dumpoff's to his backs which accounted for 134 of his 242 completions. Heimerdinger has already stated he plans to use the backs a lot less this coming season than the jets have in the past. Pennington coming off shoulder surgery, and never really having the greatest deep ball anyway in an offensive philosophy that features vertical passing well as a fan of rival team I like it. Jets fans were hard on Hackett because he had the tendacy to call some of the worst plays. Although I think this was more playing to the strength of your team than calling bad plays. I look for the jets offense and the jets in general to take a big step back, and penningtons arm to fall off by week 6. Also Quincy Carter is no longer their backup Jay Fiedler is. -
Starters Who Suck..... 1. Mark "Cement Shoes" Campbell- other than blocking his skill set is very limited, and I'm not even that convinced he's that good of a blocker, certinally not on the level of a Jason Dunn or Mark Bruener. He's not a good receiver, he's slow as a slug, and I don't like him as a safety valve especially with a young quaterback. I value speed and good hands from the te position. Blocking is important yes. Mark Campbell would be a good #2 te, from my #1 te I want the ability to stretch the seem, or go underneath and the ability to run. Campbell doesn't offer this. I'm leaving Euhus off this list cause it's unfair to judge him right now. 2. our dline- No not everyone can have the dlines of the panthers/jets/patriots but I believe the lack of even one real threat pass rusher hurts us. We rely so heavily on the zone blitz to make up for the lack of a pass rusher that it actually hurts us especially against teams who can expose the lapses in coverage during the blitz 3 teams have done this against us very effectivly. The Pats, The Jets and Kansas City(03) They don't really suck, They're good against the run, at least in the interior, and schobel is a steady reliable player. Kelsay should improve, but as much as we lack a receiving threat at te. We Lack a true pass rusher at defensive end. The fact we don't have the dline of the pats/panthers/jets is also a huge reason that re-signing Nate Clements is a must.

If I was a nfl player the first call I'd make is to find my agent...... ::ring....ring...ring:: "Excuse me Mr. Rosenhaus" Drew Rosenhaus is just doing his job. I have no problem with nfl players wanting money. The simple fact is every team pays their best players. Even NE. You can't stay competative and have a team full of players making veteran minimum salaries. Whether you like it or not it's not a privilege for a player to don the colors of the uniform. It's their job. NFL GM's don't honor contracts why the hell should players?

How would you define being a cancer?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd define a cancer as someone who A. Someone who has a big mouth, talks a lot of trash, BUT doesn't go out and perform ala Freddie Mitchell B. Someone who flat out quits on their team, shows marginal interest only when they want to ala Randy Moss I don't think of Henry as a cancer, so much as I think of him as a pre cancerous lesion. I think if we didn't trade or cut henry one pre season rolled around the whining and bitching would've gotten a lot worse, and even though he was relegated to a backup role, his words could have cause a negative ripple effect on us signing future free agents or caused a rift between teammates and make it all about henry instead of moving foward and making it all about the buffalo bills. With this trade the pre cancerous lesion never becomes malignant. Travis was a productive back who tried his best in 02-03, and performed hurt, however faced with the challenge of having to beat out another player, and even having an additional chance to regain the starters job after our first win a week earlier (with mcgahee) he failed under the pressure to do so. So It's adios and best of luck to him he's not our problem anymore. -
Maybe Terrence Mcgee can improve and be a quality cb, I just don't think he has the skills to be a true #1 cb. What I mean by that is a cb that can be the cornerstone of a secondary a guy you can hang your hat on. I think Mcgee is gonna turn into a fine #2 cb, but I sure as hell don't want to see him as our #1 cb in 2006 if we lose clements. Both of them they're best years are ahead. I just believe the impact Nate Clements can have on a secondary and a defense, far outweighs the impact that terrence mcgee will ever have. Not a knock against Mcgee, but I believe Nate Clements is that damn great.
-
umm yeah cause mcgee can definitly be a #1 cb....... Mcgee struggled in his rookie season. He can improve to be a solid #2 cb. He'll never be a #1 cb. However Nate Clements is one if not the best cb in the league. I'm not gonna debate this cause everyone has their opinion, but he's still one of the best at his position. The Most important player in our secondary and essential to lock up long term.

Andre Reed has my vote, although I think if Sterling Sharpe played as long as brown/reed/irvin/carter. His #'s would probably be better than every one of them, although I saw a lot more of Reed than I did sterling so I went with Reed on bias and what not, and I think it's ridiculous he only has like 7-8% of the total vote.

Losman will probably be talked about at the end of the show for 1-2 minutes. THIS IS WILLIS'S TEAM.

kffl is reporting it now as well Titans | Reese Says Henry Deal not Completed Sun, 17 Jul 2005 23:16:13 -0700 The Knoxville News Sentinel, citing the Associated Press, reports Tennessee Titans general manager Floyd Reese said through a spokesperson Sunday, July 17, a trade for Buffalo Bills RB Travis Henry is not completed. "It is still an ongoing process," the spokesperson said. He said no terms have been reached for a trade or for a contract extension. Henry has one year left on his original contract and wants a contract extension wherever he lands.

Reshard Lee doesn't have starting experience, in fact his experience is about the same as shaud williams the difference being shaud williams is 5'7 190lbs and reshard lee is 5'10 220lbs. Lee has the size to be a fill in, but he never actually proved anything. I think this is why we tried to get atrain awhile back, however you don't know what you have till you see it. So we might be fine at backup rb

Why is everyone so happy about the trade?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Most teams if their starter goes down are fuged anyway. A 3rd rounder might not seem like alot but it should be good enough to package into a 2nd during the draft. Or we simply get 2 3rd rounds who either develop into starters or depth. Could we have gotten more for travis? It's debatable, but we got something which is better than what a lot of people were predicting that we would receive nothing in return. -

Travis to the Titans
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If who's and what's were beer and nuts. Injuries are part of the game, and the draft is all a gamble. We don't know if the guy we draft next year is gonna be good, but we do know we traded a malcontent player to load up for a future player. The titans 3rd rounder could eventually be packaged for an additional 2nd rd pick in next years draft as well. The draft is a gamble, and keeping Henry when he wasn't gonna play isn't worth it. We got what we could and now we're moving on -

Falcons | More about Coleman Arrest Fri, 15 Jul 2005 09:59:38 -0700 Updating previous reports, the Associated Press reports Atlanta Falcons DT Rod Coleman was arrested for misdemeanor disorderly conduct during a traffic stop early Friday, July 15. He allegedly cursed at an officer and asked, "Do you know who I am?" DeKalb Police spokesman Sgt. Charles Dedrick said Coleman "was verbally abusive" to a police officer. Coleman was a passenger in a 2004 Land Rover pulled over for speeding at about 3:30 a.m. on Interstate 85 just outside Atlanta. Coleman spent about three hours in the DeKalb County Jail and was released on a $363 bond, said jail spokeswoman Mikki Jones. Was it uncalled for? Maybe, Cops can be pricks sometimes and make you want to talk down to them, cause they think their badge makes them above the law. Although it's always best to bite your tongue. Can this be compared to Randy McMichael slapping up his wife? Hell no. It's not even close

Well it makes sense why the titans are now front runners. Wait out for tenn to strike a deal with Henry and take that 3rd...... or pony up jacksonville

Mort Says TH Deal Maybe Today
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to nick in* england's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah but it's a good thing to have picks in next years draft to help us load up on future starters and depth. We have some major issues coming up on the defensive side of the ball in the next 2 years.
