  1. Rex Grossman is softer than Tissue paper. I think they should just start to develop Kyle Orton now. They're a young team who can afford to take their bruises, but I think Orton has the skills to develop into a pretty good quaterback over time.
  2. I agree, Verba isn't worth his weight in gold, we're better off waiting till the draft next year to pick up a lt.
  3. I'm the best cb in the league, on the #2 defense who's core players are young and has the right mix of veterans plus a mentor in troy vincent who could help me fine tune my game so I don't rest on my laurels and can only get better, if the bills hook me up with bailey type money I'll stay.
  4. Gandy,Verba, Peters, teague, your cousins newphews girlfriends fathers brothers son...... realistically no matter which one of these options you plug in at lt you're only looking at a one year stop gap, till you draft a lt next year. Verba isn't so great that we should be banging down his door with a contract in tow. If Gandy sucks which we don't know yet well than offer something to verba, but he's not worth breaking the bank for no offensive linemen is.
  5. Every cb in the league lets up plays. If all anyone can recall is 2 plays from a season where a cb was not on top of his game as "proof" he's not elite I'd hate to see what people would say about any other cb in the league. Clements is 25 years old, and will only get better. Once again there is no Shawn Springs in free agency next year to come in and replace clements a luxury washington had picking up a better cb than chump bailey in free agency. There is simply no alternative other than to pay Nate.
  6. I'm not overly concerned about Milloy. Last year was the first time he was injured. I'd like to know why ffs you're more concerned about milloy than vincent. Vincent over the past few seasons has had a string of injuries and this season is moving to a new position full time. While I feel better about the fs position than I do ss, when it comes to depth as Rashad Baker showed he has some ability to step in if need be, and down the road could be a reliable starter, As far as the current starters go I feel a lot better about ss than I do fs. You'd be hard pressed to find a better blitzer than milloy from the ss position, and he's also really good against the run. While his pass coverage isn't the greatest what ss is other than ed reed? he does well enough in this area. I have to see Vincent stay healthy through a season which he hasn't done since 2000. I expect Rashad Baker to start at least 2-3 games for us at some point this season, which I think we'll be fine with. Now if wire had to start 2-3 games for us.....
  7. Personally I think you droped the ball a perfect lamp would've been a silent thread for your 300th post.... oh well you always have something to look foward to when you hit 1000
  8. Aaron Schobel- 28 Sam Adams- 32 Ron Edwards- 26 Chris Kelsay- 25 Jeff Posey- 29 London Fletcher- 30 Takeo Spikes- 28 Nate Clements- 25 Terrence Mcgee- 24 Troy Vincent- 34 Lawyer Milloy- 31 avg age- 28. Contrary to the opinion expressed in this thread, our defense is not "old" and could very well expect improvement based on age in our dline, and cb's. I also expect to see more contribution this year from our lb depth. We still need a viable ss option should milloy get hurt, and more depth at dt but other than that, our defense should have a solid few more seasons in them as long as we manage to keep some of the core players, and find depth that could push for starting time at the end of this season to next year.
  9. Anyone who's consistently watched Bailey throughout his career knows last season was not a "down year" but your average bailey year. He's a good cb, but he's not in clements league as far as man to man coverage. Bailey would make a good zone corner, but his ability to cover deep is just not good. He used to consistently get owned by Amani Toomer, even a few times by former cowboys wr Antonio Bryant, and the likes of James Thrash. By the way not only is clements in Baileys "leauge" as far as int's are concerned he's better. Bailey the last 4 years has averaged 2.75 int's per year. Clements 4.5. Clements also has 8 forced fumbles to bailey's 4, and 4 defensive td's to bailey's 1. Nate Clements stacks up favorably well wirth the suppoused best cb's in the league, and imo is better than all of them. Chump Bailey wouldn't crack my top 5. Nate Clements/Shawn Springs/Chris Mcallister/Antoine Winfield/Ty Law
  10. I'd love to have people who keep their mouth shut and don't make waves on my team, who go out and give it their all over TO anyday, like hard working brian finneran.......
  11. Of course Coy Wire is gonna say stuff like that. WTF is coy wire to not say stuff like that? It's not like he has an argument for being the best at his position like TO does and ask to be paid accordingly, We drafted wire, he's failed to do anything, time to put up Coy.
  12. our defense isn't "great" until it brings us to the playoffs. Stats mean nothing. Also once again there are no free agent olinemen left that are gonna improve this team this year. There's no one to get. The only linemen to get that will improve our oline are next year in the draft. With that said I can live with not getting simon as long as we re-sign nate clements that should be priority #1
  13. did you have this conversation with your pats buddy.... what does he think about this move you made?
  14. I don't ever think you can spend enough on a good defense, especilly on the dline. Obviousily the patriots, jets, dolphins, the carolina panthers, the eagles, the buccaneers, etc etc etc. would probably agree with my assessment. Ron Edwards and Tim Anderson have proved a lot of nothing. Edwards might turn out to be good, but if he's good what kind of money will he want after this season when his contract runs out? How much longer will Adams be able to retain form, or play in general. Outside of 30+ year old Adam, Ron Edwards who's been an underachiever, and Tim Anderson who's shown nothing yet what depth do we have at defensive tackle? We're not set there by any means, and as someone pointed out in an earlier post, next year isn't going to be a good year for defensive tackles, however it's a rich draft for left tackles. Trading for simon would improve our overall depth at dt, help our de's and lb's even more and keep edwards in a reserve role, where he'll still see 50+% of the overall snaps and pretty much ensure our defense stays very good. If there was a good lt out there for trade now than yeah trading for simon when we could get a legit lt wouldn't make sense. However there isn't. No good lt's are getting cut anytime soon, there's no great would be lt waiting in the wings in free agency. It's gandy for this year, and most likely a draftee next year. However someone who could improve our starting defense, and depth is available for trade, why not jump on it?
  15. The only reason I'd be against this trade is if it effects re-signing nate clements, if not there's no reason not to want simon. It doesn't effect us from drafting a lt in a tackle heavy draft next year. we'd still have a 1st/3rd-7th rd picks, and improve an already good defense. It's win/win.
  16. Unless the dolphins have the 2nd coming of Jim Brown waiting in the wings I'm not worried. Their oline is the worst in the league and they've done nothing to improve it. Their secondary is also pretty bad now that pat surtain isn't there, and yeah boston does look lighter and quicker, but he's gotta prove he can stay healthy.
  17. I've always liked Law and Milloy with that said, I'd rather have Milloy. Good safeties are hard to come by, and as good as a corner law was/is, a good safety can help out an average corner a lot, also creep up to the los and be an asset to your run defense. I'd take either or, and I'd probably flip flop on my opinion this a lot, but right now I'd rather have Milloy.
  18. Was it a mental mistake or a physical mistake? It's better to make physical mistakes than mental mistakes.......
  19. I was very excited when we drafted kevin everett for the speed factor. I was of the belief he could've been an antonio gates type weapon for us eventually. He was raw, but he had/has tremendous potential. Mark Campbell runs like he's wearing cement shoes. While he might make a good redzone target, and he's a decent run blocker, he'll never be a valuable weapon in the passing game. Tim Euhus brings more speed than Campbell so I'm hoping he beats out campbell for the #1 te spot in preseason. I'm hoping for a speedy recovery by Everett, although it's unlikely to happen.
  20. it's hard to have a backup plan for the best cb in the nfl. This isn't a situation like washington had with Bailey, where they had an even better cb and if he could ever stay consistently healthy may have a case for the best cb in the league in Shawn Springs fall directly into their lap. There are no Shawn Springs to be found. Nate Clements is the best cb in free agency next year, and imo the best cb period. Git er done TD.
  21. New England Patriots, Philladelphia Eagles, New York Jets, Indanpolis Colts, Atlanta Falons, Carolina Panthers, tampa bay bucaneers What's the one defining charteristic of all these teams? Good Dlines! You can not. I repeat you can not field a mediocre defensive line and expect to win consistently in the nfl, and I believe the Pats, Eagles and to an extent the Jets represent this very well. The pats value dlines so much they consistently seem to draft defensive linemen in the 1st rd and bring in veterans to boost depth such as Ted Washington in 2003(even after they drafted ty warren in the 1st rd.) and Keith Traylor in 2004 (even after they drafted Vince Wilfork in the 1st rd) Getting Simon would make perfect sense from a team that is built with defense as it's strength. Infact it makes nothing but sense to improve the strongest aspect of your team and make it stronger. The only way I'd be against this move is it effects re-signing Nate Clements. I could live without Simon but it sure as hell would be nice to add a proven good player to the squad.
  22. That's a lot to gather from one scrimmage from a guy who has 0 career starts. I like Stamers potential, but to clearly say he's "better than posey" is a big stretch. Posey plays slb. He's not gonna make the plays that takeo spikes makes, as wlb's generally don't have to deal with blockers and are free to roam around and just make plays. he's also not london fletcher. However I don't think you'll find many wlb's or middle lb's as good as spikes and fletcher. When we got posey I was expecting someone who would give us a solid pass rusher in the bryce paup mode. Obviousily the switch from the texans 3-4 to the bills 4-3 base 46 defense has led to a dropoff in posey's sack totals. However Posey has shown the ability to hold the point of attack, be solid in pass coverage, and do enough to be a starter on the leagues #2 defense the past 2 seasons. Could we use a true pass rushing lb sure. Stamer has to prove he can be that guy, until than it's posey's job and rightfully so.
  23. I found some good wall papers on www.billsaddiction.com wallpaper forum, or go here http://www.wcremix.com/ or billszone.com, or maybe someone here can hook you up, but this is the best I can tell you.
  24. I believe all quaterbacks are overrated and not that important. It's more important to have a game manager than a "great quaterback". Some people may call this one in the same, I don't. Daunte Culpepper and Peyton Manning are "great quaterbacks" Tom Brady and Jake Delhomme are "game managers". As long as Losman can keep the mental mistakes (does sterling sharpe have copyright on this?) to a minimum with our defense and st's and mcgahee I see no reason why we can't be a .500 team or better. Anything worse than 7-9 and this season is a complete bombing out. Because our season hinders so much on our defense, st's and willis I had a hard time deciding what's more important to success for the bills this year. I believe our depth on defense seems to be pretty good so far, and some of these players if called upon could do a good job. Specifically Rashad Baker, Jabari Greer and Josh Stamer. Secondary depth other than ss we seem to be adequate, lb depth adequate. Dline depth questionable. Our St's is legit. Terrence Mcgee's straight line speed is amazing it seems within 3 steps he turns on the burners and if he get's daylight he's gone. We have a crazy amount of kick returners, solid cover units. The best punter in the game. I don't like the idea of playing offense to protect our kicker from making mistakes and Lindell may be our biggest weakness from a fg kicking prospective. It's always better to take 3 than 0, but until we bring in someone better, it is what it is. Willis so far looks good. He seems faster, while keeping his strength he displayed last season. That stiff arm on Batman Caroll last night was sweet. He showed a lot of cutback ability, and spin moves I didn't see last year, and looks quicker to the hole. I've said now for the past 3 years our run blocking is subpar. They get no push and if last night is any indication they still don't get any push. Willis created so many of his yards last season on his own, if he goes down I don't see Shaud Williams/Reshard Lee/Lionel Gates having the ability to do this, putting more emphasis on a virtual rookie qb, leading to more mental mistakes, which will amount to more losses. Thus my reasoning for Willis being the most important factor to this seasons success. If Willis goes down we're SOL.
