Way to close out the game Parcells

In true gregg williams style here comes the 4th quater prevent defense -
JP is playing like most of us expected
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
JP still has a ways to go in his development, but seeing how he's playing now if we would've thrown him to the wolves last year it probably would've been really ugly. Sitting was the best thing for losman last year. A Year to learn the offense, now he has to get use to the full game speed, lose the happy feet and learn to look off his wr's. He's shown some early flashes of talent, and shown some horrible things as well. He has to be much more consistent with his accuracy, and looking off wr's, as he learns to do this the opportunity to go deep will be there. I can definitly see why parrish and everett were drafted though, and it's too bad they're both injured. I think everett was gonna have a big role in the offense this year. Euhus should be back soon and has a bit more speed then campbell and probably better hands, hopefully he can be the reliable short option for JP, as he progresses from week to week. With a reliable check down te more things will open up for the passing game and running game. IF JP doesn't start improvng on some of his issues by mid season then theres a problem, but for now it's how I expected him to look. -
Nice throw by Drew to glenn. Bledsoe still got the big time arm. I hope he does well

I'd have to disagree. Losman hasn't shown the ability to look off his 1st option yet, and plust we've now heard since the gregg williams era that the idenity we're suppouse to have is a "power running team" as I've seen Carolina/KC/Jets/Pitt repeatedly just run the ball down opponents throats. No one knew who Jake Dellhomme was when they repeatedly just ran stephen davis and deshaun foster at their opponents. I won't sit here and believe those teams I mentioned didn't see 8 man fronts the difference is they didn't care. They said they were running and thats what they did. Those teams don't care about their yards per carry, they have a philosophy and stick to it. It might not always be pretty but it works cause they believe it in it, and stick with it. We don't have the oline of any of these teams, but they're still some big bodies. Some of whom are known as "road graders". Don't want Willis to get overworked fine activate lionel gates and use gates and shaud williams to spell mcgahee, but it just seems now the idenity we have now isn't what we were told the type of team we'll be. I wouldn't necessarily have a problem with your idea if we had a more experienced qb who could look off wr's and is adjusted to the speed of the game, which Losman doesn't seem to be yet, but with the wide bodies on the line, a young inexperienced qb, Willis/Williams/Gates and our defense it just seems our best chance at being succesful is being a run first, run second and run some more type of team.

C'mon Folks...this is a Reality Check!
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to 40+ Year Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The "running game" needs some help from the blocking. The Running game needs to be stuck too also. It's on;y been 2 games so I'm not ready to draw conclussions but 8 man front be damned. Yes the ypc won't be pretty but we need to keep running. Carolina does it, pitt does it, the jets do it, kc does it. No matter the ypc if the attempts are put in the yards will come. Not run one series then abandon the run and then run again later. that's not commitment. If our team is suppousedly built for running the ball, well then by all means we should be doing exactaly that. I could care less if the yards per carry aren't there of if willis has 30 carries for 70 yards. Those 30 carries will wear down a defense and allow you to pass the ball. Attempts are what matter. Chew the clock gain 2-3 yards a pop and you wear down defenses as the game goes on, but it has to be stuck to. -
It all comes down to the O-Line
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Granted it all comes down to the oline but I'd still like to know why theres no commitment to the run game? 8 man fronts be damned. Everyone knows teams like the jets/carolina/kc/atl/pitt are gonna run the ball and they dare you to stop them. They don't care about 8 man fronts, or fancy yards per carry the most overrated stat for rb's imo, they keep running to wear your defense down. I'd like to see this kind of commitment to running game from the bills. We're suppouse to be a team "built for power running" well then let's see some running. -
This is a 6-10 Team This Year
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to BenchBledsoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm really tired of waiting for next year, but the fan in me will hope for this year until we're mathimatically out of it. Then and only then will I look for next year. We have a long way to go, and a good number of things losman must improve on. -
Oakland will be a better club
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Mark Vader's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As Sterling Sharpe would say Randy Moss made this thread possible -
I don't know if the speed comment with aiken is suppouse to be sarcasm but Sam Aiken was never fast. He's a solid st's player who doesn't offer much in the way of speed, he's suppouse to have good hands and run good routes, but I haven't seen it. Speed is something Aiken never had though.

The last time the Bill had a respectable line was.
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to ASCI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It always starts up front on both sides of the ball. Offensive line can't get push in the run game, and can't pass block when a defense is rushing 3 and still getting pressure there's problems. Willis might be a patient runner, sometimes a little too patient, but the oline needs to get push, Not just stand up opposing defneders or let them free into the backfield On the other side of the ball Ron Edwards might be a good situational pass rusher from the dt spot but as a starter he's a gaping hole in our run defense, and it doesn't get any easier from here on out. He's gotta step up. It was dissapointing to see the defense up against an offense with an inexperienced lg and lt get pushed around like they did. -
We'd be able to get the ball to the wr's if losman would look off his intended target every once in awhile, he's developing the bad habit of just staring down his one receiver giving db's time to jump on the play thus the infectivness of our wideouts. Hopefully this problem gets fixed with more experience for losman.

How badly are the Bills missing Roscoe??
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know it's early but I Think roscoe parrish and kevin everett were pretty big plans for mularkey to get some speed on the offense up and running. A te who can split the seems and can be a valuable assett especially to a young quaterback, and a wr who brings another dimension of speed to an offense. I was pretty dissapointed in todays lack of an offense, but losman needs this kind of experiences and it's better early then late, although it's never pretty to watch, if he still can't get 1st downs at the end of the season and start putting the ball in the endzone it's a big problem, but for now I'll chalk it up to inexperience. -
Biggest key of the game?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mike Gandy vs Simeon Rice. I was thinking about this and came to the conclussion we might just do fine here. I expect Mike Mularkey to have a game plan similar to when we faced the dolphins and jets last year. Use Wr's and te's to help out the LT to chip block rice and pretty much make him less of a factor, on obvious passing downs. Rice is a force from the de position but he's not the best de we'll face this year. Julius Peppers, Abraham, Taylor, Seymour imo are all better. I can see leaving a te in and max protecting so rice's and derrick brooks effect are minimized as much as possible. Cover 2 defenses are generally vunerable to the run over time. The Bucs have a solid pair of dt's although I have my doubts about hovan. They have fast but undersized lb's and zone corners with questibale safeties. The Run game might not always be pretty, infact at times it might be downright ugly, but it's essential in beating the bucs even if it's rushing willis 30 times for 80 yards, those 30 rushes will have an effect on the bucs defense. causing them to play the run and leaving zone corners 1 on 1 with Lee and Eric. With the proper use of pouding Willis, The Deep Posts that can cause cover 2 defenses fits, cause as ralonzo has pointed out cover 2 is premised on keeping the play infront of you, which makes a cover 2 zone vunerable to deep passes if they have to play run. Establish a ground game no matter how poor it may look on the stat sheet, and the big play opportunities will come. Our Defense should flat out own griese and the bucs offense. Griese has limited mobility and is prone to mistakes with a questionable oline in front of him. Blitz heavy up the middle and we should force him to make plenty of mistakes. Power run offense, and pressure heavy d and we should walk away with a w. -
Where will you watch the Super Bowl?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to ofiba's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
SB 25 I watched at my neighbors house, my former neighbors dad is a giants fan SB 26 I watched at my neighbors house again one of his son a redskins fan Sb 27 and 28 I watched at my house. I wasn't spending any more time at my neighbors house due to my neighbors other son being a cowboys fan Of course my dad is a jets fan, so the next time the Bills make the superbowl I will watch it someplace secluded where no one can bother me and not emerge till after the game. -
Ok but you'd lose that bet. Team Offense |----- RUSHING -----| TOTAL ATT YD YPA TD YD 387 1823 4.71 8 6577 NFL rank 28 18 2 29 3 Now tell me out of these rb's who would you take over Willis Mcgahee Running Backs +----------------------+----+-----------------------+----------------------+ | Name | G | RSH YARD AVG TD | REC YARD AVG TD | +----------------------+----+-----------------------+----------------------+ | Michael Bennett | 11 | 70 276 3.9 1 | 21 207 9.9 1 | | Mewelde Moore | 10 | 65 379 5.8 0 | 27 238 8.8 0 | | Larry Ned | 16 | 0 0 0.0 0 | 1 9 9.0 0 | | Onterrio Smith | 11 | 124 544 4.4 2 | 36 394 10.9 2 | | Moe Williams | 14 | 30 161 5.4 3 | 21 233 11.1 1 The Vikings have a nice stable of running backs, but they lack a true feature back and have since Robert Smith retired, and to some extent you could say he was helped out by having chris carter and randy moss. Michael Bennett just might be the softest back in the nfl. I've never seen him break a tackle in his carrerr. Moe Williams is a nice short yardage back, but far from a feature back. Mewelde Moore is a solid 3rd down back with very good hands, and quick, but once again not someone who can get 20-25 carries a game for 16 game season. Onterrio Smith might be that guy but due to his whizzanator and Tice's infatuation with Michael Bennett we'll never find that out. The Vikings do not have a running game. Any semblence of a running game by Minnesota is directly related to Randy Moss's presence on the field.

Yes Brady will most certinaly be in canton, and once again lol @ manning and culpepper better then brady.
-
Why do the same people who say Brady's "overrated" in the same vain then say they'd take Peyton Manning? or fumblepepper? Talk abouit 2 qb's who couldn't have asked for better situations. Culpepper came into the league with Chris Carter and Randy F'n Moss and robert smith. Talent laden vikings team. Manning has Marvin Harrison, Edge, Reggie Wayne, Stokley, dallas clark, a great oline. The fact is in the current nfl Brady has done more with less. And would take him over any qb in the league the only people I'd consider taking other then brady are are Mcnabb, Delhomme or Mcnair a few years ago.

Charger Official Doesn't Like Rival Fans ?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to The Warden's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Usually I'd chalk this up to sd just not having a big fan base, but they're coming off a 12-4 season, they should at least be able to sell out their home opener with charger fans. It reminded me of the dallas/pitt game last season @ texas stadium mind you and there was nothing but steeler fans. -
How Short is Lindell's Leash
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to brihs2005's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
5/5 is always a good start for a fg kicker. Woopty doo, let's see him do it when it counts when it's a 40+ yard kick that will win a game for us, then we'll talk, but for now lindell still sucks -
worried about Parrish
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to SuperBills12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd like to see parrish add some weight to his frame and become a deion branch esque player. Parrish has the speed to stretch defenses, excellent run after the catch, will be a valuable weapon in splitting the safeties. I'm definitly looking foward to seeing him healthy as well as kevin everett who hopefully can play sometime later this season. -
Bledsoe NFC Offensive Player of the Week
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to duey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Congrats to Drew on a game well played. I hope he has many more like them. It seems like a lot of people in order to like losman feel the need to justify bashing Bledsoe. Let it go already. He's no longer here. It's a good thing. Yes Bledsoe is still good enough to be a decent nfl stater in this league as evidenced by a good game on the road against an AFC PLAYOFF TEAM from last season. Losman did well in his 1st start as well. Yes we know Drew has serious shortcomings in his game, and down the stretch may very well fade out, but the fact of the matter is if he's good or bad it doesn't effect the Buffalo Bills any longer. The Cowboys could make the playoffs and it would not have been the wrong decision to relase bledsoe as bledsoe was going to bring us nowhere. We don't know if Losman will, but the unknown is better then the known. Best of Luck to Drew for the rest of the season and Best of Luck to the beginning of hopefully a great career for JP Losman! -
tampas d is tough, but I love our defense vs a rookie rb, suspect oline and brian griese. I look for our defense to force a few turnovers, have a td of their own and just dominate the bucs offense. 23-10 Bills
