Next years available free agents

Guard Steve Hutchinson. Probably the 2nd best guard in the league next to Alan Faneca. plus I think Duke Preston will be able to handle the center spot. If Not Hutchinson then yes LeCharles Bentley and let Preston man the lg spot, but I'd prefer Hutchinson and let Preston play c next season. De John Abraham- I know "character issues" so what he's worlds better then Chris Kelsay and we desperatly need dline help, more so at dt then de.but it's hard to say no to a top flight pass rusher, and they don't get much better then a healthy John Abraham. We also need to get people on our dline who we can create pressure with from just our front 4. De- Another option at de is Raheem Brock. Not much of a pass rusher, but I think he's stouter at the point of attack then Kelsay, Better holding up against the run. DT- Grady Jackson- Especially if we don't draft a dt. Guys a mammoth space clogger. Joe Jurevicious- might be a worth a look if we let Moulds go, will be cheaper then a Reggie Wayne, but can be the posession receiver we need, that won't be too expensive where we won't be able to improve the oline and dline. Any combination of these players plus draft choices to fill the other areas would suffice. -

I'm sure it has something to do with facing the texans, jets, dolphins at home. But even so it seems like we generally play with more intensity and aggressivness during home games and generally seem prepared and it seems we sleep through road games. That's a huge difference regardless of the teams we've played. We did manage to do a good job against the chiefs, that's the reason I don't take this with a grain of salt.

Who do you not want on this team next year?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Stl Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
PEOPLE I'D GET RID OF WITH REPLACEMENTS IN MIND OFFENSE WR-Moulds- makes getting a wr a priority. Parrish has to show a lot in the next 6 weeks before I'm remotly comfortable with this idea, but if it helps us improve the lines so be it. I wouldn't mind Reggie Wayne, but again that takes money away from improving the lines on BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL. WR Josh Reed- Whatever happened to the award winner from college. Where's that wr. I had serious hope for you. So Long Josh better luck elsewhere... Getting rid of 2 wr's makes wr once again a definite need. I'll have to look over the 2006 free agent list which I don't have on this computer. Or drafting another wr again. I wouldn't make it a 1st or 2nd rd pick though. Maybe with one of our 3rd rd picks. LG-Bennie Anderson- buh bye. FAT Slob. I'd make a strong push for Hutchinson instant big time upgrade LT- I'd keep Mike Gandy. He's good enough to big a backup tackle and guard. Maybe even move him to rg for the aging chris villarial. DRAFT LT in 2nd rd RT- Mike Williams- I had hope for this guy cause I believe he has talent, but seems to lack nastiness, just plays like he's content. I don't know the guy personaly so I won't say he's unmotivated but it does seem that way. Probably as good as gone, and thats why peters is getitng play now. Bye Mike and I hope you land on your feet elsewhere. C- Trey Teague It seems like Preston will be the guy to replace teague, and I have no beef with this. So long trey. I think you got a hard rap here cause I believe you've been our most consistent olinemen. If we can land someone like Marcus McNeil in the 2nd rd and Hutchinson in free agency. Mcneil/Hutchinson/Preston/Villarrial/Peters. I could defenitly live with that oline. Regardless it takes time for an oline to gel, but I'd like the makings of this group a lot. Defense- DE- Chris Kelsay- Don't really have a big beef here with Kelsay even though I'm not a fan of his, I'm giving him a pass due to dt being a bigger need. However if we can afford to get someone better on that side. then by all means do so. DT- first off I don't like the idea of getting rid of Sam Adams. A Healthy Adams with a complimentary run stuffer next to him can still play at a high level. We'd be putting ourselves in the same situation getting rid of Adams that we did this season getting rid of Williams. I'd keep Adams and say goodbye to Sape/Bannan re-sign Ron Edwards. He's a quality role player type at least better then the other 2. Due to injury he suffered this year I have a good feeling he'll come pretty cheap. Drafting is a much. I'd prefer Gabe Watson cause I'm a bigger fan of the run stuffing dt's. I could just as easily live with Rodrigue Wright or Ngata. LB- Jeff Posey- Meet your replacement Angelo Crowell. Maybe shift Spikes over to the strong side and let Angelo stay at the weakside spot. Spikes is a better cover backer then Crowell. FS- Troy Vincent- Meet your replacement Rashad Baker. I like his style better. He brings a physical element to the game, and can make plays as well, just lacks vincents experience. Who cares at this point I'd rather have Baker. SS- Lawyer Milloy- I'd like to keep him one more year while we draft and groom his replacement, unless we can get someone better then Coy Wire in free agency, cause I never wanna see Wire start for this team again. EXTRAS I'm giving a pass to Mark Campbell, who wile I'm not fond of due to his lack of speed, will make a nice complimentary te. I was high on Kevin Everett before the draft, and I think he'll give us the type of fast athletic te you need in todays nfl. This offense could use some more speed. We just seem to slow on that side of the ball and I think it's a big problem why we're not very good on offense. Nate Clements- Be careful what some of you wish for. Rag on Nate all you want you'll be pretty sorry when we do lose him and become the worst defense in the nfl. Terrence Mcgee is not better then Nate, and Eric King and Jabari Greer are not starting caliber corners. We have much bigger needs. Franchise him, and unless you get a first while he's franchised try to work out a contract. -
I love Eric Moulds, and like others have stated it's hard to really gauge how much he has left. To Erics credit I think he has something like 30 catches and 300 yards and 3 tds in the games Holcomb started. I think the ne game proved he does have something left. Yeah I know makeshift secondary, but he still showed enough speed to run after the catch for the td. It's a shame really we never had a legit oline or qb, while Moulds has been here, he would've been the better for it. At this point in time I also think he's still better then Lee Evans. Nothing against Evans he's a great deep threat, with world class speed, but that's basically all I've seen him do... Get open deep. If we part ways with Moulds it once again makes wr a top priority, someone who can be that posession receiver, unless you think Aiken can fill in I don't see it. I'd love to keep moulds but if we can't it just makes us have to go after another big name wr like reggie wayne taking away money from improving the oline and dline, and being stuck in the same cycle.

MartyBall4Buffalo replied to ROCCEO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we have a top 10 pick, which looks good at this point, Then I'd go dt. This is a really deep tackle draft, so with a top 10 pick I see no reason to draft a lt in the 1st rd. Marcus McNeil is a guy who could fall into the 2nd rd. So I'd go with one of the following for our first pick 1. DT Gabe Watson 2. Ngata 3. De Mario Williams A Tag and trade clements for a late 1st then Gabe Watson/Marcus McNeil. -

Just to talk about something other than the "game"
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to rolly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah we're gonna have to hope a better corner falls into our lap when we get rid of one of the better corners in the league. Ala Washingto trade Champ Bailey Shawn Springs signs via free agency. Unfortunatly Nate Clements is the best corner available after this season. There is no one better then clements to sign. The only way this could turn out positive is to use that pick acquired for clements on a defensive linemen who will drastically improve our pass rush. Our defense will not get better by losing the best player in the secondary and best player on the defense outside of spikes. -
Time to blow it up.
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually you can, The Panthers did it. They spent a lot of money on their secondary of Ken Lucas/1st rd pick Chris GambleJr/Mike Minter/1st rd pick Thomas Davis, yet they still had enough money to spend on their dline..... It can be done. -

MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Keep thinking Clements it's the problem. LINES LINES LINES!!!! say it slowly and let it seap into your head. I know everyone wants a fallback flashy guy to pick on, and clements is perfect because he's cocky. This team will not get better by getting rid of 3/4th's of our secondary. Mcgee/King/Baker/? NO Friggen thanks not unless we're gonna be sporting a dline the likes of the carolina panthers. Clements is still one of the leagues better corners, Draft for dline. Otherwise the rest of the stuff I agree. The QB is not the problem. Holcomb/Losman, Hobbits/One eyed troll. It doesn't matter. IMPROVE THE LINES. I'll gladly sit through a real rebuilding process if that's what The front office admits to doing, but the only way to improve in the nfl is to improve in the trenches, not dump your best skill position players because they don't shut down every wr that comes their way, or catch every pass thrown to them. -

MartyBall4Buffalo replied to rolly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
your corners are only as good as the players in front of them, kind of similar to a qb and rb on offense. It all starts in the trenches. More athletic linemen who can rush the passer, will enable clements to gamble more often, and come up with more plays, instead of staying off and giving up the stuff underneath that he didn't do last season. Most of the leagues suppoused "Great" corners would look foolish playing on this defense. Clements is still one of the premiere corners in the game, but if we don't get better up front we'll never get better. I wouldn't necessarily give Clements the money he wants, but he's still worth his weight in gold, and he will get paid. I'd rather use that money to improve in the trenches, but to rip on one of the leagues better corners, considering the sad sacks who play in the front 7, to think we'd improve without nate clements? Tag and trade. Draft for Lines. -

I don't think troy vincent is even mediocre anymore. It's hard watching him jog all over the field, plus I prefer my safeties to be physical. I think Milloy has some game left. He seems to try hard anyway, I'd get rid of Vincent and let milloy stay while we groom his replacement, cause while vincent's replacement is on the team in Rashad Baker, Milloy's replacement isn't. Moulds I agree with, but then that still makes wr a need. Moulds still seems to be the only one who catches passes for us. We need another wr or a receiving threat at te. We lack both, Everett being unknown. Mike Williams I agree. This line is bad. I'd like to see us go the route of a team like the broncos. Smaller, more athletic linemen instead of 330lb piles of steaming crap, who can't stand up without falling over themselves. I'll also throw out Jeff Posey, We have his replacement in Angelo Crowell. Chris Kelsay.... Throw out whatever you want I don't know the schemes or what they ask him do. He doesn't do anything excpet get blown off the ball on running plays, and take really wide angles and run out of the picture on passing plays. Sam Adams- Like I said with the oline I'd like to get smaller and quicker more athletic linemen. Guys who can get upfield and after the quaterback. Slow logs don't cut it for me. I want guys who get towards the ball, guys we can get some pressure with without blitzing so much. -
Something to watch other than the game

I'm watching Queen of the Damned....I like Vampire Movies -
Reed should've had that, but at least we come out with some points, but in a game like this you gotta catch passes like that. No excuses, and please put Baker in at fs. Vincent is hard to watch without getting a sick stomache

Is Willis Mcgahee our RB of the future
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to RVJ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OF COURSE HE'S NOT A ME/ME PLAYER HE'S A FRIGGEN FULLBACK... -
Judging the play of corner backs is probably the hardest position to judge who's playing well and who's not. Take last season for instance, according to The Book Football Scientist, former bronco Kelly Herndon was the best cb in the nfl last season, as he had the lowest pct of passes caught against him, and teams threw his way less then they threw at champ bailey. Now I'm sure if we were to have a discussion about top corners Kelly Herndon would never cross your mind. Also take for instance Lito Sheppard gave up the fewest td's of any cb in the league who had 100 passes thrown his way. You can break down stats, pct of passes caught, yards against, td's against. How many passes thrown their way, but basically judging cornerback play seems to be nothing more then personal opinions. Now I don't sit and watch in slow motion our corners, but for as much love as terrence mcgee gets here and well deserved imo, he gets burned just as much. He's a good player and someone I'm glad we have locked up. If Mcgee can't go I'd rather have King go. Get him his experience. I think he has stouter size to play corner at 5'8 185 then greer 5'11 169. Interchange if you must, but yeah I'd like to see the draftee play.

How many yards will McGahee rush for...
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Outkast's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sadly I agree, and that in a nutshell is my worry about this game. Not That sd isn't a good team, but that what we do best won't be done because Clements will look at sd's pass defense rankings and try to put it through the air all game, failing to utilize the best player on our offense. -
Dom Capers or Jim Haslett Take your pick
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to NavyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd love to see Krumrie get a crack at defensive coordinator, but not for one second would I be opposed to brining in Dom Capers and switching to a 3-4 defense. -
Will Carroll says...
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He looked left actually, and if he threw that pass we wouldn't be talking about wtf was that play call we'd be talking about wtf did holcomb throw that pass and allow kc to pick it off and run for a easy 7 points. Similar to a pass Bledsoe threw against the ravens last year that deion took for 7. In that situation you run your 230lb tailback right up the gut. That's the reason you have him. Mularkey and Clements are too gadgety for their own good. In relation to the article I hope Holcomb turns out to be ok and suffer no ill effects. However it's time to play the kid. -

MartyBall4Buffalo replied to RVJ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree to an extent about the quaterbacks, but that Todd Heap and Derrick Mason are really "horrific" I also find it funny how Chester Taylor under the same circumstances has been outplaying lewis when given the opportunity. -

MartyBall4Buffalo replied to RVJ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why does Jamal Lewis's name keep popping up in this thread. THE Suppoused "GREAT" Jamal Lewis, who other then one season averaged just 1300 yards a year, other then his one great season beating up on the browns and bungles. is on pace this season for just 853 yards. What a train...... Only Bills fans could complain about having the 3rd leading rusher in the nfl on a top 5 rush offense....... Most runningbacks who get their insane stats usually have other weapons on offense that can pick up the slack so teams can't just focus on one aspect. Seatle has Matt Hasselbeck and a good passing offemse, as does Sd. Give it up already. No Rb every week is gonna get 100+ yards and a 2 td game not tomlinson, not alexander, not edge no one. And Pretty much all the runningbacks in the top 10 other then Willis have some other semblence of an offense. You all are some really picky people. -
YUP, and I actually didn't notice this until I saw the replays on nfl network, and actually came away more impressed with Losman then I did after watching the game. Other then his inability to take some of the mustard off his short throws, his not knowing to look off his intended target was my biggest criticism of losman, I was glad to see he learned this and hope he improves all around as the weeks roll on.
