  1. yeah he will. I like jason peters but he blocks like a te. He uses his hands adequately and is quick on his feet making him good in pass protection which is nice, but I've yet to see him do much in the run game unable to drive block. I'd prefer to move peters back to te and keep him as a blocking te ala jason dunn although not as good and keep mike williams at rt. With that said Mike Williams is as good as gone which is why I'd like to see us franchise clements for a late 1st and draft tackle marcus mcneil out of auburn and max jean giles from georgia with our 2nd rd pick
  2. Lee Evans is a lot better then price but I'm not sold on him being a true #1 receiver. I believe we can live without moulds if we improve the oline switch the focus to becoming a true smash mouth team by building around #21 and not a wr. However if Owens were available to us I don't see why the hell not
  3. 6 years of no playoffs and horrible offense, god forbid we bring in a true play maker to change that..... Moulds isn't half the receiver owens is
  4. It's Owen's fault everyones production went down huh? But if you really want to go there sure lets go there..... Donovan Mcnabb.... Divisional Playoffs 2004 min W,27-14 | 21 33 286 2 0 NFC Championship- 2004 atl W,27-10 | 17 26 180 2 0 Superbowl- 2004 nwe L,21-24 | 30 51 357 3 3 (I'm sure it's Owens fault the eagles attempted 51 passes and mcnabb threw 3 picks and was gassed out near the end of the game) Brian Westbrook- 2004 min W,27-14 | 12 70 0 | 5 47 1 2004 atl W,27-10 | 16 96 0 | 5 39 0 *2004 nwe L,21-24 | 15 44 0 | 7 60 1 seems pretty much the same to me Todd Pinkston 2004 min W,27-14 | 0 0 0 | 3 46 0 2004 atl W,27-10 | 0 0 0 | 1 13 0 *2004 nwe L,21-24 | 0 0 0 | 4 82 0 Owens really cut into the production there Greg Lewis *2004 nwe L,21-24 | 0 0 0 | 4 53 1 Obviousily Owens didn't "cut into production" and the reason the eagles only lost by 3 as opposed to 20 was because of Owens. The guy simply makes big plays. Is big into charity. Sure he's a head case on the field, when things don't go his way, but who wouldn't want someone like that as a teammate who's gonna have attitude and light a fire under his teammates?
  5. Single handidly sink your franchise? You mean like how the eagles were coming off a year where they went to the superbowl and started the season 3-1 before Mcnabb got hurt and instead of opting for surgery early in the season where he could've came back and saved their chances at the playoffs continuted to play and be detrimental to the teams chances of winning. systematically throwing 3 int's at the end of games in back to back to back weeks Yeah who wouldn't want the best receiver in the nfl or argubaly a top 3 wr in the game when we can have Sam Aiken and a Smurf......
  6. Simply put, Saunders has presided over the NFL’s most prolific scoring offense over the last four seasons. During that span, no NFL team has registered more points than the 1,754 accumulated by the Chiefs, an average of 27.4 ppg. In 2004, Kansas City scored 30+ points in five consecutive games, a first in team history. The Chiefs led the NFL in scoring in both 2002 and 2003, becoming the first AFC team to lead the league in scoring in back-to-back seasons since San Diego in ‘81-82. During the 2003 season alone, the Chiefs piled up a franchise-record 484 points after registering a league-high 467 points in 2002. Dating back to 2001 when Saunders took over as offensive coordinator, the Chiefs rank first in the NFL with 24,278 net yards of total offense (379.3 ypg). The Chiefs oppulent numbers during that 64-game span from 2001-04 are also the league’s best in the following seven categories: offensive TDs (200), rushing TDs (105), total first downs (1,413), Red Zone TD percentage (64.3%), runs of 10+ yards (255), passing yards per attempt (7.79) and passing yards per completion (12.58). http://www.kcchiefs.com/coach/al_saunders/ All the convincing I need Saunders 4 head coach.
  7. I mentioned saunder the other day in another thread and got no play on it. I'd love Al Saunders here. That coryell system is top notch and saunders touches on it have been magnificent. Just look at the #'s trent green has put up the past few years with well below average wr's. Imagine what a system like that could do for the likes of evans, and especially mcgahee. What I like about Saunders the most is his commitment to the run game. The chiefs are the #1 in term of redzone td pct since 2001 primarly because of their commitment to running the ball. They also lead the league in total yards ypc. Passing yards, yards per completion, rushing touchdowns and redzone td pct since 2001 to now. The only downfall is that offense pretty much needs top notch linemen, but well Saunders would know that and I'm pretty sure make it a priority. I'm wishy/washy on Kubiak but he has spent years behind shannahan and obviousily knows the system. The system is commited to the run game and great for mobile qb's Young/Elway/Plummer. There's a lot of similarites between Losman and Plummer so on the surface it would look like a great fit. The system has also done great with any rb, mostly due to the zone cut back blocking scheme they employ. Davis/Gary/Anderson/Portis/Bell/ and Warrick Dunn in Atlanta. On paper it would seem to be tailor made system for us. Monte Kiffin is a great defensive cooridinator. He's been consistent for well over a decade. Like someone else pointed out though he makes more as a defensive coordinator there then some head coaches make elsewhere so he probably wont go anywhere. These would be the top 3 coordinators on my list but I'd prefer Saunders over all of them
  8. I didnt read the article but I'm not the biggest mcnabb fan anyway, before the eagles got owens mcnabb's accuracy was rather crappy. Yeah he's always been athletic I just always thought watching him he left something to be desired and always had a tendancy to fall apart in the clutch. My guess is when Mcnabb comes back and the eagles without Owens his accuracy will fall back to under 60%
  9. Free Agents at the end of this season Unrestricted: Justin Bannan, DT- goodbye Kevin Thomas, CB- keep Mike Schenk, LS- keep Nate Clements, CB- franchise try to keep if not trade for 1st rd pick to be used on one of the lines Ron Edwards, DT- keep. I like edwards as a rotational player Ryan Denney, DE- goodbye Sam Aiken, WR- keep imo best st's player we have next to mcgee Shane Matthews, QB- he'll probably retire so goodbye Trey Teague, C- goodbye Restricted: Angelo Crowell, LB- must keep Mario Haggan, LB- goodbye I was hoping we'd get to see more of him Josh Stamer, LB- goodbye
  10. sweet we might actually get to see good play calling this week
  11. no rb is going to get traded for a 1st rd pick. If you can't get a 1st for the likes of edge and alexander it's not gonna happen.
  12. While I thnk you did a good job filling needs in your proposed scenairo of drafting reggie bush, although I believe we need interior linemen more then we need a lt. With that said I don't think this years line is nearly as good as last years unit. Mike Gandy imo has been a little better then advertised, but he's not better then a healthy jonas jennings. Who imo is/was a better run blocker then gandy. Remember Willis got a good chunk of his yardage last season and bounced runs outside with jennings at lt. Ross Tucker looks like an all pro compared to bennie anderson. Tucker was able to pull on traps and sweeps and had a nice nasty streak all around better then bennie anderson. Chris Villiarrial didn't suffer the nagging injuries he has this year last season in turn making center trey teague able to concentrate on just doing his job instead of worrying about inadequate guards making him better as well. Mike Williams was healthy...... I also don't buy this Willis Mcgahee has no heart stuff. It might sound over simplistic but I believe our line is this bad and this is why we're seeing no offensive production. Willis was ripping off the yards earlier in the year with a healthy Mike Williams and Villarrial, but due to the removal of williams and the nagging injures of Chris V. and an anemic passing game our run game has been attrocious. What I'd do is pick up lecharles bentley in free agency, draft max jean giles out of georgia in the 2nd rd, Franchise and trade nate for a late 1st. You wont get a late 1st for a rb. No one did it for edge or alexander, they wont do it for willis. and draft Gabe Watson and Marcus Mcneil with our pick and the pick we get for Mcgahee. I'd also hold onto sam adams and pick up raheem brock in free agency. This way we're looking at a dline and oline of Schobel/Adams/Watson/Brock and an oline of Marcus McNeil/Max Jean Giles/Lecharles Bentley/Chris Villarial/Jason Peters with backups of Mike Gandy/Bennie Anderson/Duke Preston etc etc. I also think Reggie Bush is a can't miss prospect but that's a luxury pick we just can't afford.
  13. wow I really kicked myself in the ass there
  14. Assuming for a minute Takeo Spikes comes back healthy like runthedamnball said he's a guy we should build our defense around ala the bears with urlacher, the ravens with ray lewis, bring in the talent to compliment him. No More Tim Andersons and justin bannans but some large wide bodied strong dt within the 1st 2 rounds of the draft and build from the line back. Strong run stopping dt, a de to compliment aaron schobel, maybe someone like raheem brock who's stronger against the run and better pass rusher then kelsay, and we'll be able to keep bodies off our lb's to enable them to make plays. I think Crowell has played extremlly well to warrant him taking over for posey next season.
  15. Buffalo well at least as long as I remember has never been a place that brings a lot of yards and stats to wr's. Even Andre Reeds years here. He wasn't a perrenail 1000 yard receiver, but you won't find anyone who says he wasn't effective in what he did. Evans has blazing speed and soft hands. I'd compare him more to terry glenn then to peerless price. He has the potential to be great over time. He's far from a sore spot on this team, and I think we could live without moulds if we get an oline and receiving te. There are teams with far worse wr's then us that have effective offenses the kansas city chiefs spring to mind.
  16. Chris Henry was an absolute steal for the bengals. He has the potential to be a great #1 wr, but droped in the draft due to attitude problems in college, but he has great talent. He'll be a good one, and if by some chance the bengals let chad johnson go and Henry reaches his potential they won't miss a beat.
  17. mcgahee moulds schobel evans losman crowell fletcher milloy clements
  18. I still think the biggest factor is the absence of mike williams. The Run game worked well above average before the removal of mike williams and other then the 1st ne game who was minus richard seymour with jason peters at rt our run game has been attrocious.
  19. ...... how does this solve the problem?
  20. of course they are, but quality offensive linemen are not. Unless you think it doesn't matter what oline you have and a good rb will work with what he has, and running behind guys like Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson doesn't make much of a difference for shaun alexander, or willie roaf and brian waters haven't mattered to holmes and larry johnson. The better your oline the better your rb. Any guy can run the ball, the real difference in disparity between good and average rb's is using your good linemen to break off runs effectivly.
  21. It doesnt really matter what rb we have. You can only run if your oline blocks. With that said I chose no. Not because Mcgahee isn't a good rb, he is imo a top 10 back. However I don't really have much faith in the front office to bring in the players needed to fix the oline. So I have to go with no.
  22. Not to beat a dead horse again but going from 4.6 ypc and in the top 3 in rushing yards to 3.9 ypc and 9th in the league is no mere coincidence. The reason this happened is sitting on the bench. Once again this "breakway speed" issue is irrelevant. Curtis Martin never had breakaway speed, Edge no longer has breakway speed his longest run of the year is 33 yards with only 5 runs of over 20 yards while mcgahee this season has 4, last year 10. Which is more then edge has ever had in one single season. I also dont think it's a stretch to assume our oline was better last year. It's hardly an issue of being slow and all an issue of the 5 guys that make up our offensive line.
  23. great post I was realtivly young when I became a bills fan. I never lived in western ny and never experienced it, but I became a fan in the 88 playoffs granted I was only 5 at the time, but I saw a team I liked for some reason unknown to me and since that time I have lived and died with this team and I will continue to do so until they leave buffalo or I kick the bucket. It's never as bad as it seems and could easily get better. Countless teams have done it, so why not us?
  24. you could say this about any lb in the nfl. Most lb's once engaged with 300+ lb guards don't break blocks easily. Linebackers and secondary need a good dline like a qb and rb need a good oline. If your trenches aint sh-- your back 7 aint sh--. With that said London Fletcher and Angelo Crowell imo have been the bright spots on this defense. They hustle and make plays, improve the trenches and they'll get better. Urlacher didn't look so good in 2002 when the bears lost ted washington, now they have Tommie Harris and he's an allstar again. How's Ray Lewis looked? Fletcher is a top 5 mlb but like I said you're only as good as the big bodies infront of you.
  25. I like Larry Johnson a lot and think he's a damn fine rb, but I dont think he's that great, put him behind our oline, and he wouldn't do much better then mcgahee. Larry Johnson is also pretty bad with blitz pickup. With that said, it cant be stated enough when Mike Williams was in the lineup earlier in the year Willis was in the top 3 in the league in rushing yards averaging near 90 yards a game. If we had an oline like the chiefs I have no doubt in my mind willis would put up Larry Johnson esque stats. It's no coincidence that mcgahees ypc average went from 4.7 to 3.9 over the time mike williams has been removed from the starting lineup. This "breakway speed" stuff is overrated. Whats edge's longest run of the year? 36 yards....... The problem is far from breakaway speed. It's simply a case of poor run blocking. With our line having no consistency and shuffling in and out of players they're not used to each other. No Offense to the idol worshipers of Jason peters but he gets no push in the run game and is a rather finese type tackle, making it nearly impossible to run off tackle plays. The interior is the biggest problem providing no early push off the snap. Villarrial who still may be good is getting up there in age and is suffering nagging injuries. Bennie Anderson is a fat slob, and trey teague I wont really blame due to the jokes at the guard spots next to him, but he has his fair share of issues with run blocking.
