  1. Tossing bollinger under the bus no. All I meant is I dont think losman is our qb of the future or the present or anytime soon. I was making the comparison about they both played a good quater of football here and there nothing to do with throwing anyone under the bus or the talent or lack there of on their respective teams.
  2. I dont think losman is the future I think he's a brooks bollinger. Look what bollinger did vs sd. Same thing losman did vs miami. Both Mobile losman probably has a stronger arm though. I think we'll be drafting a qb in another 2 years when this experiment fails. I pray that I'm wrong though
  3. OMG LOSMAN HAS A STRONG ARM START HIM NOW!!! Look I get it JP Losman was the guy we invested draft picks in. Why I dont know but thats what the front office did. He does deserve an opportunity to prove himself, but comparing him to Manning or Palmer is invalid. Like AD pointed out he played at Tulane. It's not gonna happen overnight if at all for losman and I honestly doubt it will. He has physical talent, but I have my questions about him. He strikes me as a guy who thinks his physical talent will carry him along. Right now he's just not as good as Holcomb and thats not a knock. Theres a lot of qb's who aren't as good as KH. Holcomb has great accuracy, spreads the ball around to every receiver and knows how to manage an offense. So What he doesn't have the strongest arm. He's the type of qb you can win games with if you build around. He proved he can play playoff caliber football in cleveland and I'd like to see him get a real chance here. I dont get the Holcomb bashing. The guy's done nothing but play well when given the chance here. Sat behind Peyton, sat behind couch when people had hope for him. I'd like to see KH get a fair shake. If nothing else his play this season has proven he deserves that opportunity. You talk about not understand "holcombites" I dont understand the love for a guy who's done nothing but played 2 good quaters of football just cause he was drafted. Build an oline for a run balanced team and rebuild the dline and I bet We stand a much better chance with Holcomb then we will with JP.
  4. they lead the league in ints though, but yeah they're not a great defense. 22nd overall, still holcomb played quality football on the road against a division leading team and made some great throws. It is what it is.
  5. Good question. Everytime I've seen Baker play all he does is hustle and play physical from the free safety position and try to make plays. He brings the physical aspect that vincent lacks.
  6. If vermeil is forced out kc sure. But I dont think they're forcing him out more so that vermeil doesn't want to come back to a team that he doesnt think will make a push. If Vermeil leaves kc it wont be to coach someplace else imo it'll be to retire. With that said I'd take Vermeil in a heartbeat
  7. Thats because Carson Palmer has the prototypical tools of a franchise type qb. He struggled a little early then as the season progressed untila cheap shot by richard seymour against ne he was begining to light teams up. Palmer was nfl ready from the start. JP Losman will probably need 3-4 years like a drew brees or it looks like a Kyle Boller or many years and the right system like Jake Plummer. It won't happen overnight thats why I think we're better off building a line and a defense to compliment Holcomb then waiting another 4 seasons for it to begin to click for Losman
  8. This sunday I'd go with Losman. Next year I'd have an open competition
  9. Not suprised. Holcomb has played well and the players aren't stupid. They want to win and Holcomb gives them the best chance to do that. The players opinions should matter a lot. They're the ones who have to play with the guy. I'm not saying they should have final say, but their opinions should count. Anyway Losman is nowhere near as good as Holcomb. Holcomb has a much better sense of field awarness. More accurate, and better at getting every wr involved. and Holcomb should be allowed to compete for the job next year.
  10. Glad to hear it. Crowell has played well this year given the circumstances. Glad he's gonna be around awhile. Do you know for how long his extension was? I'm not so sure about moving crowell over to strong side lb. Next year after we improve the dline I think Spikes should be moved to strong side. He's a better coverage backer then crowell. I think crowell lacks the strength to handle the strong side.
  11. Jason Peters wasn't drafted, and other then being way over hyped by bills fans really hasn't done much. He's just managed not to suck. He's a good athlete. Still not sure about him as a tackle. I still believe he'd be better off primarly used as a blocking te. Tim Adnerson and Bannan are nice rotational players at best. I think Bannan would make a decent 3-4 defensive end. Evans is explosive playmaker, he's yet to prove he can be a true #1. Aaron schobel has a non stop motor (heh doesn't every white defensive end?) I like him more then I used to, but I'd like to see a true pass rusher opposite him. I love Willis Mcgahee but he's been terribly inconsistent this year. the 1st half of the year he was on pace for 1500+ yards since the ne game he's hit the crapper. I think this is mostly due to the guards who are unable to pull and the absence of mike williams.
  12. If we filled the oline needs in free agency and picked up the likes of grady jackson and a darren howard or raheem brock on the defensive side of the ball I would not be opposed to a te, however I'd rather have Marcedes Lewis then Vernon Davis. Marcedes is 3 inches taller and around the same speed. Would probably be a better redzone target then vernon at 6'6. Also a better blocker
  13. and seymours teammate vince wilfork. Notice how ne's defense has been stout lately it all starts up front with those guys wilfork/seymour/warren. Kris Jenkins when healthy is argubaly one of the top dt's in the league as well.
  14. I doubt it. Dallas desperatly needed a running back. If Dallas wanted a qb they wouldn't have traded with us. They needed a rb and to stockpile picks. The packers were in need of cornerback or any kind of defensive help they could use, and the rams have bulger, and needed a rb. Also could've used offensive line help. I dont think Losman was worth reaching back up into the 1st rd for. It's easier to say we should've chose so and so, so I'll leave that out, but we would've been better off staying put and keeping our 1st rd pick for last years draft and our 2nd and 5th in 2004, and taking another qb or losman who still could've fell to us in the 2nd.
  15. The chargers line isn't that good. It's a decent line, LT is a great back. However he like a lot of finesse backs himself, alexander, priest holmes, marshall faulk etc etc have a tendancy to run soft. He's not gonna plow over people but like those backs I mentioned he's shifty he'll make a move and he's gone. I dont know if I'd want him on 3rd and 2 in a must make situation. With that said about this thread theres a lot of fans of every team that rip on their teams runningback. Go check out chiefsplanet theres countless threads ripping on larry johnson cause he doesnt pick up the blitz. Mcgahee was fine earlier in the year when the line was healthy and included mike williams. Nothing personal against jason peters but I sorely doubt it's just coinicdence willis's #'s plummeted when big mike was removed form the lineup. A lot of it also falls on villarrial coming to the end of his career. Trey Teague being too weak to generate a push and bennie anderson being a fat slob and unable to pull limiting the run game to just dives up the middle where generally you wont get a good ypc average. Once this oline is improved willis's #'s will increase I have no doubt about that.
  16. they're both free safeties. Jim Leonard is like 5'2 I doubt you'd have him playing ss. Unfortunatly our only backup ss is still coy wire, But I agree about letting baker play over vincent.
  17. if this was a deabte before the 2004 draft I'd take Phillip Rivers over Losman in a heartbeat, however it's a stupid idea to trade for him now. I wanted Rivers or Matt Schaub anyway. We got Losman. I dont know whether or not JP is our qb of the future but at this point trading for rivers is just dumb, as we have a lot bigger needs then qb.
  18. LeCharles Bentley. Center is the captain of the oline makes all the calls and imo the most important position on the line. While getting hutchinson would be great and I really wouldn't complain one way or another if we got either one. I'd rather bentley and to move Mike Gandy to lg and preston to rg, and draft a lt in the 2nd rd
  19. If we're picking runningbacks in the 2nd round I'd complain. 4th and 5th rd Id have no problem with. But 2nd round is just way to early.
  20. Personally I hope they play losman this game, but either way no matter what happens week 17, I wouldn't just hand the job to losman next season. Open qb compeition into the preseason to see who should start.
  21. If this is the case then yes you cut rope now. You dont waste years on someone you have no faith in to get the job done. This also would then fall on Donahoe and the scouts, they should've had a feel for a blunder that big.
  22. A. Eric Moulds has looked great with holcomb under center, he can still get it done, but he doesn't have a feel for the kid. He started to play well with losman in the panther game, but JP was quite horrible earlier in the year.
  23. It works both ways, but for the majority of the year the line has generally looked better not good mind you but better with Holcomb under center then with JP. Where JP scrambles and panics cause he anticipates a rush fake or real, Holcomb stands in there and is willing to make the throw, or hold onto it so he doesnt force nothing ala a brad johnson. We dont have to blow up everything imo a bit of reshuffling, and lecharles bentley on the offensive side of the line, and grady jackson/draft pick/ raheem brock or darren howard in the offseason, and this team should be much improved for the 2006 season pending an open competition for the qb job.
  24. and they beat oakland because? NFL Teams don't purposly tank games contrary to the belief of some fans. Yes some teams when they're no longer in it play with lack of effort I don't see that with the jets. They respect Herm Edwards and will play tough for him till the season is offically over for them. Edit: And To answer the holcomb losman question I'd play losman, but I'd have an open qb competition next year. I'm not a believer in playing someone cause of draft status regardless of what you gave up. Going into the season you play the best person for the job, whether thats the kid or the vet.
