  1. The fact that we traded 3 picks to get Losman makes it a horrible deal. 3 picks that could've been used to fill positions along both sides of the lines. 3 picks on a very raw qb with poor mechanics and happy feet, and questionable leadership skills. The situation then made worse by unfairly rewarding him the starting job, after he was outplayed all through the preseason and not ready for it, then taking away that job that was handed him, claiming Holcomb gave us a better chance to win. Whether or not Losman turns out to be a good qb one day is a unknown. Personally I believe eventually he'll be adequate but certinally not justifiable giving up 3 draft picks for him.
  2. I dont know this just seems like when everyone went and hired all the green bay coaches. Gruden, Reid, Mornhinweg, Mooch.. Odds are one or more off this parcells/belichick coaching tree will be a flop. It's too early to say whether or not Mangini will be the mornhinweg of this group, he's young, he only had one year as a coordinator. I'll wait awhile before declaring him the 2nd coming.
  3. True it is the same system, but the chiefs basis for the air coryell system is more an emphasis on a run game, which is perfect for an outdoor team, especially a cold weather outdoor team. They dont have the greatest skill position players, if we can put together a decent oline, a guy like Lee Evans would be an absolute star in that system. We also have the rb who runs a lot like the other chiefs rb priest holmes. Build the oline and bring in Saunders. A lot better fit then Martz.
  4. Agreed. Jauron was dealt a blow after 2001 losing ted washington, anthony thomas playing over his head. The guy won the nfc north at 13-3 with Jim F'n Miller as his quaterback. Much more impressive then barely sneaking out wins with Brett Favre. I'd rather none of them, but if the choice is Jauron or Sherman I'll take Jauron.
  5. NFC North the only time sherman won that division is when the divisions were re-done and tampa went to the nfc south. Sherman has as good of a case as Martz in the regard that they built up wins in a porous division. I'd rather not hire any of these people. If the choices are guys like sherman and jauron I'd rather go the coordinator route the best offensive coordinator in the game the past few years Al Saunders.
  6. I was only born in 83, so the best bills defense I've seen is 98-2000
  7. Given the choice between haslett/sherman and Jauron I'd take Haslett anyday. People are overratingSherman. Yeah he made the playoffs a few times, but that was mostly do to brett favre and playing in perhaps the weakest division in the nfl. Haslett is a blue collar guy. Smash mouth no nonsense football, which is the kind of coach we need. Haslett isn't my #1 choice but I'd definitly prefer him over Jauron or Sherman
  8. I look at the confrence championship games from the perspective of who the better coaches are and what "TEAMS" have more playoff experience With that said Superbowl 40 will be Denver vs Carolina I think Coaching in the afc will hold a bigger factor. Cowher will play it to close to the vest, and keep it on the ground way too much, when to beat the broncos you should put it in the air. Match randel el up against champ bailey and send him on a few post routes he's bound to burn him a few times. The pats tried this with Andre Davis and David Givens to some good success. Shanahan is smart. He knows he's gonna have to win in the playoffs through the air. He realized that during the end of the regular season, and he prepared accordingly. They'll run when they have to, but I look for them to take advantage of blitzburgh by attacking the middle of the field. Denver 24-13 In the nfc playoff experience will hold a bigger factor then coaching. This carolina team knows what it takes to get there, and john fox will definitlly have his team well prepared. Seattle is a young team with a bright future. They wont go down quietly, but experience will win this game. Carolina. 27-24. Carolina vs Denver Super Bowl XL I'm picking carolina cause they have the front 7 to match up against any rushing team in the league, and denver doesn't have the greatest set of wr's and carolinas secondary is just awesome. Steve Smith will own the most overrated cb in the nfl. I will Say though Shannahan had the best coaching job in the nfl this year. Bringing A Jake Plummer led team possibly to the superbowl. That says it all.
  9. I get the premise of this post, but I dont agree with the concept. Baseball is more about individual matchups. Pitcher vs the batter. Where as what everyone does around the quaterback in a football game direcetly affects said quaterback. While their overall importance is more significant then that of a lb or a rb, since they do touch the ball every play, what goes on around them also plays a big part, which is why you win and lose as a team. I still stand by the basic principles of winning football. Win in the trenches. Run the ball and stop the run and you'll win the majority of your games.
  10. TOTALS | 12 33 0 no thank you. Lebeau is one of many who are better off being a coordinator.
  11. I have no offical comment at this time
  12. It's a foreign concept they usually are lined up next to the tackle and some of them are as fast as wr's so they occasionaly line up split out like a wr. They're used as receivers to work the middle of the field or split the seems. Teams with young quaterbacks generally use them as a safety valve. Some of them even dominate better then wr's. These are the rare breed. Not all of them can block, but if you can get the te to do it all you got yourself one hell of a player. This team currently has none that are capable. I know this stuff sounds crazy but really it's true I swear
  13. Lovie Smith got away from bears football, and left his defense exposed, and never quite adjusted. Kudos to Rex Grossman for hanging in there, but there was no reason to go away from your bread and butter Thomas Jones. Hopefully for the bears and their fans lovie will learn from his mistakes this game, and learn to play to their strengths. John Fox is one hell of a coach.
  14. thats what you get for speaking too soon.
  15. Hey I'm not gonna disagree with that. Moulds doesn't have the speed of steve smith. He's not a playmaker like that anymore, but he's still a good receiver, and you cant just get rid of him without replacing him with a posession receiver or if we get a real tight end who can work the middle of the field. We have neither on this roster with kevin everett being an unknown.
  16. No otherwise they'd be doing a better job against him 12 buf | 0 | 3 55 0
  17. Soft zone coverage. Kill em in the middle of the field. I hate Cover 2 defenses
  18. Ok what does that have to do with Moulds? Who do you replace him with. Unless you think evans can be that guy I dont see it, we dont have a qb as good as delhomme.
  19. Ben Roethlisberger was nfl ready from day 1. Yes he inherited a good supporting cast but it goes way beyond that. He can read a field better. Ben has better accuracy especially on the intermediate and short routes. Their deep passes are pretty even. Ben has better touch. Ben has much better pocket awarness. Where as Losman has happy feet. Roethlisberger can take a step up, move to the left or right, and still manage to find his receiver. Losman has the phsyical tools to be as productive as roethlisberger. I wont say as good, cause they're different style qb's, but Losman's mechanics are still raw, his accuracy and pocket awarness are still shotty, and he has to learn the meaning of the word "touch pass". When he manages to work on improving in those areas he'll learn to become a better qb.
  20. Well if we learned anything from this thread it's that BillsBoys should root for the patsies more often
  21. ^ what he said. Too bad for denver plummer wont ever win a game for you with a competant running game.
  22. The pats have had the best rushing defense over the last half of the regular season surrendering only 57 yards per game. Their secondary is their weak spot unfortunatly this could be the game where the real jake plummer shows up to the dismay of bronco fans. I'm not sure if corey dillon is playing for the pats, so it will be on brady to win. He should have little problem with the leagues 28th ranked pass defense.
  23. Just for the sake of this thread, has anyone else heard anything on this? I haven't seen his name mentioned anywhere with the bills vaccant hc job. Although I wouldn't be opposed to it.
  24. Actually that's not true. Some teams allow you to interview coordinators during playoffs, however they can't be hired until said team is out of the playoffs.
  25. Hopefully we don't hire Payton. He's had play calling duties stripped from him twice once with the giants and this past year from parcells. If we're gonna go the offensive coordinator route then go AL SAUNDERS.
