1. Ok No problem there. I like Moulds but not at his current contract. 2. I like Bryant would rather have a posession type wr though like David Givens, because we already have our burner in evans, and potentialy andre davis if he signs with us 3. Not a Problem. Daimon Shelton is a slow pos. The Fullback position is also becoming non exsistent, although I'd like to draft a receiving threat at this position who can also block. 4. I'd rather we go defense with our first pick, but Vernon Davis is a beast. 5. Is runyan a free agent? 6. Would Love Neal. Charles Spencer has Jamie Nails written all over him I'd rather draft Lutui. Or Rob Sims from The Ohio State University in a later round. 7. Truthfully I'd give Gandy every chance to compete for the rg spot with an ever declining Chris Villarrial. Additions 8. Center imo is the most important position on an offensive line. Now that Bentley is out of the question, I'd like to get Mawae and draft a center to groom behind him Someone like Patrick Ross from BC. I like your idea in theory but it just seems too finesse for a cold weather team. Good Strategy if you're an indoor dome or warm weather team. I'd rather have an offense based around the run game with big play potential then a big play team who has the threat of a run game.

Is Marlon McCree next?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Chicken Wing '73's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh well. Mcree would've been a pretty good signing but this is still going to be a safety deep nfl draft. Other then Milloy who we cut. Mcree and Archuletta were the best of the free agent safeties imo. I'd rather go the draft route compared to whats available. -

Sounds like Marv likes Davis
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to billsfan182's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont really know much about Andre Davis other then he's blazing fast, and doesn't have the most reliable hands. He always struck me as a guy who has a lot of talent but never quite reached his potential at least not yet. Never hurts to add depth. He cant be any worse then Aiken. -
Signing Nate just got more challenging
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to EC-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nate Clements (5 years) avgs 4 picks a season. Year Team G Total Tckl Ast Sacks Int Yds Avg Lg TD Pass Def TOTAL Bills 80 362 287.0 75 1.5 20 261 13.1 54 4 45 11 Career forced fumbles 6 total tds 4 picks 2 punt returns Champ Bailey(7 years) avgs 4 picks a season Year Team G Total Tckl Ast Sacks Int Yds Avg Lg TD Pass Def TOTAL Skins/Den 110 474 433.0 41 1 29 263 9.1 65 3 86 5 career forced fumbles 4 career td's 3 picks 1 rushing Stats wise Clements has a great argument. His stats match up to the best in the league. I used Bailey cause a lot of people seem to think he's the consensus best. Looking at the stats to me they seem pretty even excpet in the playmaking catagory. It can be argued that Clements is a bigger playmaker then Bailey. As his 6 more forced fumbles and 2 more tds in 2 less seasons can atest to. Clements will be paid and paid big time. -
Signing Nate just got more challenging
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to EC-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thats not really that much money, but I'm suprised Brian Williams got that much. I dont see how this effects Nate Clements signing a long term deal. Nate Clements is gonna get more then Brian Williams regardless. -
Do you guys think the Triplett signing will
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to firstngoal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. Any good defense has more then 1 capable defensive tackle. Our defense doesnt get better with just larry triplett. IMO it changes nothing. Triplett/Anderson/Bannan?? Thats extremely laughable and makes us no better off. Now adding someone hopefully Bunkley but Ngata is fine as well will increase the chances of that group being good. -

I'd like mcree. He'd give us about the production of milloy for a cheaper price. -
Wheres the signings?

This video has changed my mind about who I...
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to 2003's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Huff's coverage skills are good and he's blazing fast and covers a lot of ground. He's the prototype athletic safety that can cover a lot of ground. He tackles too high but thats not his forte. He's a playmaker though. Personally I think theres a lot of good safeties to be had in this draft, but depending what we do in free agency I wouldnt be upset with the huff pick at all. I still prefer trading down and taking bunkley though -
I put in my first name Rob Stays Sharp till the bottom of the glass The Right Rob at the Right Time. Oh Hungry? Oh Rob. The Best Rob A Man Can Get. Gives A Meal Rob-Appeal.

With rumblings of Mawae and Runyan
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd be content as long as Duke Preston gets a chance to compete with Chris Villarrial for the rg spot. A Line that consists of mawae/runyan/villarrial is a little too old for comfort. I'd also like to do a little better then Mike Gandy at guard. I know it's a lot of nit picking and you cant overturn the entire line, but this line just seems old imo. I'd like to instill some youth. -
Vote for Bills' New Whipping Boy
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Dr. K's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought about voting JP but then figured he probably wouldnt be relevant enough to the bills to be a whipping boy, so for the time being I voted for Coy Wire, although I'm willing to switch my focus at the drop of a dime. -
Even though Kevin Mawae has been around since the time of crucifixion he'd still represent a huge upgrade on our offensive line, and wouldnt break the bank to get him like we would have to with a bentley, enabling us to spread the money out to other positions as well.
-
Coy Wire will never be a starter in the nfl again, or at least he shouldnt be. He's bad in coverage, he's not good supporting the run, for a backup he's ok, and his st's play isn't all it's cracked up to be. Angelo Crowell and Sam Aiken imo are more important to the st's. Keeping Coy Wire around cause he's simply on our st's is not a good reason. St's players come and go every year, and this draft is a good draft to get quality safeties. Coy Wire's production or lack there of can easily be replaced.

As long as it was I thought it read pretty easy and was simple to follow. I appreciated the detailed analysis.

Who are the leaders on this team???
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to C.Biscuit97's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Leaders are made over time not right off the bat. Things like that take time. While I somewhat agree I believe our real problem isn't lack of leaders its lack on talent in the trenches, and a recent history of losing. When you win eventually a leader will emerge. I dont think you can just sign a free agent and like magic have a leader. What might not seem like a "leader" to some might not mean much to someone else. I also dont think you need a leader on every single unit of your team but just having a personality like Spikes can rub off on the rest of your team. -
What does the term "cash over cap" mean? To comprehend the concept of cash over cap, one has to understand that the salary cap is just a bookkeeping number, one that can be massaged by amortizing signing bonuses, among other mechanisms. The cap has never been indicative of a team's payroll. For example, the Redskin organization, believed to be the highest revenue-producing machine in the league, has had payrolls well over $100 million the last few seasons, even while the highest salary cap level ever was in 2005, at $85.5 million. The difference between a team's true payroll and its salary cap number is essentially what "cash over cap" means. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2351462

NFL | Some teams will not contribute to player pool Wed, 8 Mar 2006 20:37:38 -0800 Dave Goldberg, of the Associated Press, reports the 17 lowest revenue teams will not contribute to the player pool, as part of the new collective bargaining agreement. The pool will be funded by the top five teams in revenue contributing the most, the second five contributing less, and the third five teams contributing less than the top 10. Low-income teams claimed high-revenue franchises should contribute proportionately to the player pool because they can earn more income through advertising and local radio rights. and ESPN.com reports after announcing the new NFL labor agreement, the NFL asked the players' union to push back the start of free agency from 12:01 a.m. ET Friday, March 10, to 12:01 a.m. ET Saturday, March 11. Gene Upshaw, executive director of the NFL Players' Association, told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that since the NFL has approved the labor proposal, he will grant the NFL's request to push back free agency. Upshaw told Mortensen that while he has not yet actually granted the delay, he planned to do so. The formal announcement of the extension will likely come Thursday, March 9. Deleted my thread and thought this should go in this thread instead. So Yeah I think with the 17 lower revenue teams not having to pitch in to the player teams should even out the total revenue accquired between the highest and lowest revenue teams. At least it should in theory. However lower revenue teams such as the bills are gonna have to find a way to come up with new ways of making money if they wish to stay on an evening playing field, so this great sport never turns into mlb.

Buffalo free agency strategy

You need more then 1 dt in the nfl. We have absolutly no starting caliber dt's on our roster right now. -
Quantifying Free Agency
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I concur very cool and thanks for the info, A lot of it is what I basically assumed. Theres a lot of good safeties to be had in this draft. Which I'd definitly prefer to go the draft route on. DT looks like a position unless you're taking one with your 1st 2 rounds you'd be better off going through free agency. I'd still like to trade down in the first and grab bunkley and use accquired picks to adress center and ss. I'd like to adress wr through free agency. We dont need some all star just a fresh body who can catch. This is a good year from te's if not vernon davis Dominique Byrd from USC would be a great option if we can sneak him in the 3rd. -
It is a good argument actually. TO btw isn't a waste of skin or oxygen, but different time different place for that disucssion. Moulds doesn't have to do anything. It was the contract him and the bills agreed to in the first place. Why should he reduce that just to stay with a team that has done nothing for him professionaly. This isn't on E Moulds it's on the bills. I hope something can be worked out with moulds, because he's still our best receiver and our depth behind him/evans is pretty sh-------. Hell our Depth behind just moulds is questionable. Evans while he's shown sparks here and there hasn't shown consistency.

Just how much cap space do we have now???
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to LevysEraII's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was torn on this but yeah we probably did the right thing, we're a bit aways from being a contder and whether adams stayed or went we were going to need 2 dts anyway.
