  1. While I always appreciate some optimism it's not our faults this team hasn't made the playoffs in 7 years. It's not our fault the bills haven't had a semblence of a good offensive line. Not our fault they lost to pittsburgh 3rd string scrubs at home in a must win game. It's their fault. When the bills show any type of improvement of heading in the right direction on the field, then I'll show optomism, but either way I'll always support this team.
  2. And how exactaly does his foundation make him a better football player? Theres a lot of good caring people out there in the world it doesn't mean they should be playing for my favorite sports teams.
  3. 29 he'll be 30 in october
  4. And then he has game like he had vs KC where he shows he can indeed be a player. I like Baker because I think he has it. Maybe I'm off base, but everytime I've seen him play he's generally around the ball and brings a physical presnece to the game. We know what we have in Coy Wire. Matt Bowen hasn't exactaly lit the world on fire. Why not give Baker a shot?
  5. No that was Tank Johnson a bears defensive tackle
  6. A-train was absolutly brutal last year in dallas, earning the nickname A Stain. If we went off that he wouldn't be a good pickup. However he knows jauron and has an idea how he runs a team coaches always bringing in one or a few of those guys. He does have experience and he's got size, that alone makes him more intriguing then shaud williams as the change of pace back. I pray we get Stephen Neal. He's exactaly the type of player our oline is missing. Tough as nails and plays nasty, and can pull. Would be a huge step in the right direction towards improving the line.
  7. Yeah I would've rather made archuletta the highest paid safety in nfl history.... I'm not saying these guys are better, but you're not gonna convince me Archuletta is the best safety in the nfl or even close to pay him what he's getting paid.
  8. Other then Ryan Pickett and Rocky Bernard I dont feel there was any fre agent we lost out on the opportunity to sign. Guys like Runyan, Mike Flannagan, Tutan Reyes are all still available. I liked the triplett signing. Not crazy about Royal but he's younger then Mark Campbell and is a decent blocker. The te positions hinges on everett and how he comes back. I liked the Andre Davis signing. Not a big Bowen fan. I'm hoping Baker beats out him and Coy Wire for the ss spot if thats what it comes down to. Theres still a lot of quality players out there to be had, and it's better then blowing a wad over guys like randle el or adam archuletta.
  9. I didn't know our dline and solid cb's could open up holes for mcgahee to run through. If we can get some solid linemen Mcgahee will be able to talk as much trash as he pleases. To run the offense Fairchild is going to run I'm assuming it's a version of the air coryell system which will rely on speed at skill positions, and solid linemen. Hopefully he runs it more like Al Saunders and less like Mike Martz. My guess is he'll be more run oriented as he's stated he wants to this to be a run based offense with big play potential. The way Saunders ran it it was a haven for runningbacks, so we'll see. Lee Evans in that system has the potential to be a star. I have high hopes for everett. I liked him coming out last year, but it's another wait and see. Free Agency is far from over, and the draft isn't for another month, so we have no idea how this team will be shaped up by then. I doubt highly what we see now is what we'll get. It's good every once in awhile to read a post like yours minus all the pessimism. One of my biggest complaints the last few years about this team is that other then a few people we lacked team speed, we seem to be acquiring that now. So far so good, but theres a long way to go yet.
  10. I like what I heard, that they didnt make schobel out to be a great defensive end and that he can be better, and realizing the importance of getting pressure with your dline. Taking a guess off these quotes Broderick Bunkley seems to fit the bill of the type of dlinemen we'll draft, he can be our version of tommie harris. You dont have to be a wide body to stop the run, just penetrate gaps and run to the ball and you can stop the run just as well. The old school type 330+ dt's we had were nice, but they were exactaly helping us get interior pressure. Also very pleased to hear Rashad Baker will get a chance to compete for the ss spot.
  11. Welcome to the club. We havent had a good oline in the past decade and yet year after year we'll sit around and wonder why our receivers cant get open, why our rb's aren't that good, why our quaterbacks suck and switch coaches, players, systems constantly. It's early in the offseason so there really nothing to do other then wait and see, but it's just been far too long since we've been competative.
  12. Keep raiding them enough we might stumble onto someone who's actually worth a damn. I'll hold off though since I dont know nothin about him
  13. Dont really know much of anything about Matt Bowen looking at his stats seems nothing more then depth.
  14. When Kris Jenkins is healthy he's arguably a top 5 dt. I'd take him in a heart beat if he's cut. if he doesn't get cut I think brenston buckner is still available, a little older, but he's a body.
  15. Johnathan Joseph who played at Coffeyville junior college. Went to SC in 2004 and proceeded to miss the entire season with a broken foot, and only has 1 year of experience against top competition is the best cb prospect in this draft?
  16. Yeah I'm sure Jason Allen will declare what position he'll play to an nfl coach. That'll ensure a rather productive career. The fact is he has experience playing safety no? He'll be put where a coach feels he's best. Even as a corner I wouldn't take him higher then the 3rd round unless you're gonna convince me he deserves to go before guys like Cromartie, Jimmy Williams, Ashton Youboty. tye hill, richard marshall or kelly jennings.
  17. This is a deep safety draft. Jason Allen in the 3rd isn't a strech in the least. As far as this poll goes I voted Bunkley. We've gone the big dt route before and while It helps to have the mammoth type run stoper, One of our biggest problems on defense is pressure from the interior. We still need at least 2 more dt's though, so one of each would suffice.
  18. I'm dissapointed we missed out on Pickett. Not because I think Pickett is a great dt, but because he would've made us a lot better then what we currently have. I preferably wanted Rocky Bernard but that option is out the window as well. I'm not overly sure whats left in free agency as far as dt go, but this still doesn't change my mindset like stl said that we need 2 more dts regardless. I didn't see anything in Tim Anderson that told me he's getting better. I saw him completly get handled in the jets game in week 17, while Adams and Bannan generally got better interior push. Signing Pickett would've at least for the first round allowed us the luxury of taking a Huff or Davis. I don't see that as feasible any longer. While I'm not as enamored with Ngata as a lot of you are, if he's there at 8 and we dont trade down for Bunkley I'd take Ngata, or stay put and take Winston Justice. We have far too many pressing needs along our oline and dline respectivly and we can't choose to ignore them. Ngata fits the mold as the Bigger run stoping type dt that marv talked about pairing with triplett. Personaly I'd rather have the quicker dlinmen like Bunkley to disruspt plays and can chase them down. Speed and quickness kill in the nfl, and one of our biggest problems the past few years has been the lack of any type of pass rush generating from just our front 4. Winston Justice while he played rt at USC could make the switch to lt in the nfl. Imo he's overshadowed by Dbrickshaw but I dont see it as a huge dropoff. Very strong and powerful run blocker and good pass blocker as well. Moves well in space and has quick feet. Would upgrade our line. Hopefully we can still grab someone like Stephen Neal or Tutan Reyes in free agency to upgrade one of the guard spots. In the 3rd rd with one of our picks I'd take someone like John McCargo from NC state. Might've been a product of playing with guys like Mario Williams and Manny Lawson, but in his own right McCargo is an excellent interior pressure type and has a tackle for a loss in every game he played in as a junior. Not overly fast but very strong, just gets the job done. I just dont see us at this current time having the luxury of taking Vernon Davis, also with the signing of Royal and still having Kevin Everett our needs can be best served elsewhere. Huff could still be the guy but like I said we're far too weak on the dline and oline to be taking skill players that early.
  19. No prob I could always use the money
  20. Nate Clements (5 years) avgs 4 picks a season. 21. Mario Williams is the best overall player in this draft, but hawk is great in his own right. If he fell to 8 that would have to be the guy. I like Crowell but Hawk is gonna be an all pro.
  22. I dont remember where exactaly I heard it from but there was talk of the niners moving Jonas Jennings to rt and their rt to guard, If thats the case the niners drafting a lt makes sense. They have a lot of holes to fill. They could go in several different directions.
  23. I was with him up until you said if you put guys like Manning and Brady back there they'd struggle. I disagree. You're talking about the top 2 qb's in the league and future hall of famers. They make their lines better. They'd do the same here. I wont discuss losman until he's worth discussing. Which will be about 16 more starts from now.
  24. Trade down to 11 or 12 and take winston justice? Not saying thats what I'd do I'd personally take Bunkley but if we're gonna take a linemen in the top 15 thats the guy other then brick.
