Willis on NFL Total Access
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Dan III's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I still dont see a big deal with missing voluntary practices. Miami guys all train hard and are ready to play come the season. He starts not showing up for mandatory practices then there's just reason to be concerned. -
Yup, like when Lovie Smith took over as the bears hc and he stated his #1 goal was to beat the green bay packers who at that time were the nfc north's top dog. That has to be the mindset of this coaching staff imo if we're ever going to make the playoffs. To Beat New England and focus mainly on division games. Odds are the more division games you win the better chance you have to make the post season.

No he's with the Vikings now. IT'S TIME!! -
I really have no problem with aaron schobel he's a very good but not great player. He doesnt command the respect that guys like freeney, peppers, strahan, taylor rice etc command, but he's far from a slouch he's a borderline top tier de, who would benefit greatly if we had a true pass rusher opposite him or at least another source to generate pressure. We should get that from our dt's at least hypothetically, and it should free up schobel to give him more opportunities to rush the passer, and make plays in the backfield.

that about sums up where Im at right now. Anyone?!?!

Most NFL teams are lacking with their QB depth.
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I personally feel JP Losman will never be a success, I didnt like him coming out of college and was especially not enthralled that we traded numerous picks to acquire him, now that he's here I chose to look at the bright side. At his current rate he'll be kyle boller v2, and hopefully with a strong enough running game and solid defense we can overcome bad qb play and be competative. At his best he's jake plummer v2, and hopefully with a strong running game he'll be able to make plays while passing but never be forced into a position where he has to outright win games and our run game and defense can carry us into the playoffs. Hopefully it's somewhere in scenairo B. -
what good is Schneck he can't even do magic tricks

I'd rather the bills not sign any of these people. Its a really sad list. -
my dream of the first play of the season was an I formation shelton in motion out right then in motion to the other side of the field and they pass to him it's picked off by Ellis Hobbs for a NE TD..

100% agree. I will say this I'm by no means a fan of Tom Brady but even without the superbowls on his current season by season pace he'll have hall of fame worthy #'s add in the superbowls he'll have accomplished much more then Aikman ever did. Aikman was a good qb on a great team. He's not in the league of the all time best though.
-
Comparing Troy Aikman to Bledsoe isn't a good comparison at all. Bledsoe smokes Aikman in every statistical catagory statistically which btw is what I think The HALL OF FAME should be about not team accomplishments, anyway the statistically the qb most compareable to Aikman is Mark Brunell TOTAL | 147 | 2576 4334 59.4 30037 6.9 174 102= Brunell TOTAL | 165 | 2898 4715 61.5 32942 7.0 165 141 = Aikman Why is Aikman in the hall of fame? Because he had an allstar offensive line a rb to carry the load and a tremendous defense. Statistically he's not better then Mark Brunell let alone.... TOTAL | 188 | 3749 6548 57.3 43447 6.6 244 198= Drew Bledsoe Maybe I'm wrong but the hall of fame to me shouldnt be based on a team accomplishment. Aikman was a good quaterback but he doesnt match up statistically to even Mark Brunell and if you asked the average fan if Brunell or Bledsoe should make the Hall they'd likely respond no way in hell. Aikman was given praise because of what the cowboys did. It wasnt justly deserved imo.

Why would he go to Miami they have Ronnie Brown?!? Not that I think Ronnie Brown is all that great but I cant see miami paying willis big money when they drafted brown so high. I could see Willis going to the jets however. Curtis Martins age and no real future rb to speak of. However who really cares about potential if's. The fact is right now he's a Buffalo Bill at least for the next 2 years. So I'll continue to support the best player on our offense, and when our passing game improves so will his #'s.

mcgahee receiving the ball next year
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree it doesnt matter that he was a 1st rd pick but I dont really agree that shaud williams is a better 3rd down back. He's not a better receiving back. Shaud Williams RECEIVING Year Team G GS No Yards Avg Lg TD 20+ 40+ FD 2004 Buffalo Bills 4 0 3 19 6.3 10 0 0 0 0 2005 Buffalo Bills 16 0 17 118 6.9 23 0 1 0 4 Willis McGahee 2004 Buffalo Bills 16 11 22 169 7.7 16 0 0 0 8 2005 Buffalo Bills 16 15 28 178 6.4 19 0 0 0 Now maybe it's because Shaud Williams was viwed as being better in blitz pickup. However this would also not seem to make that much sense as I dont remember us being all that succesful picking up a blitz last season where as in 2004 when McGahee was used a lot more on 3rd downs and Williams used as stricly a change a pace type back down the stretch only giving up 12 sacks in the last 9 games. Maybe as a 3rd down receiver? THIRD DOWN 0 7 60 8.6 - Willis McGahee THIRD DOWN 0 8 54 6.8 - Shaud Williams Seems they used them pretty evenely there. The only place at least statistically where Shaud has an edge is 3rd down rushing THIRD DOWN 0 11 43 3.9 14 0 3 - Shaud Williams THIRD DOWN 0 28 66 2.4 12 1 15 - Willis McGahee the margin of difference between these 2 on 3rd down doesnt seem to be enough to warrant taking out McGahee on the majority on 3rd downs as seemed to be the case in 05. It also doesnt make much sense strategically as it really does make your offense one dimensional. It's bad enough we dont have any sort of passing offense, but when teams know McGahees in 1st and 2nd they'll stack the line, making it more difficult to run, and knowing he's rarely used a receiving option will take more chances and blitz more frequently on 1st and 2nd down, putting us in longer 3rd downs the majority of the time. In this situation I'd rather have the ball in McGahees hands then worrying about whether or not Shaud Williams can pick up a defender who happens to slip through on 3rd and 6 or longer. -

The colts let their actual good lb's go when they let Mike Peterson and marcus washington walk. Thornton isnt that good. They'll miss triplett more. Not that he's a great player but I think his role on the colts made him more important to the team than an average lb with potential. -

MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. Although they have their own rb questions. Freddy Taylor is getting a bit long in the tooth. They got maurice drew, despite his size I think he'll turn out to be good. That defense should be good once again they always play the colts tough. If Leftwich stays healthy they can win the afc south most definitly. -

"Better then Mark Simoneau" lol theres something to be proud of but honestly this is a spot on assessment of the eagles. The eagles defense has always been a bit overrated. They were at their best in 02 when oddly enough is the last time they had a balanced approach on offense. Staley and dorsey levens did just enough to keep defenses honest. Nothing against westbrook as in 03 he proved to be a good 3rd down type back but he's far from a premiere rb. With the other teams in the nfc east catching up to philly and no run game to take pressure off a qb who isn't that great to begin with the eagles will be hard pressed to return to form. -

MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not gonna happen. The other 3 teams giants/skins/boys have all gained ground on philly especially the giants. Mark Brunell experienced a bit of a career revival but he'll be hard pressed to achieve that again. They also had no draft to build anything. I believe its the giants division to lose. McNabb will only throw it away if given the chance anyway. -
Who is this scout Rashaan Curry?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the best I could do Rashaan Curry is in his sixth season as a member of the Eagles scouting staff. He is responsible for scouting the Southeast region. Curry, who was named a full-time college scout in 2002, joined the Eagles in 2001 as the team's college scouting administrator. Prior to joining the Eagles, Curry, 29, served as an intern in the National Football League office, first in the player personnel department under Joel Bussert in 2000 and then with the NFL Europe operations department in the spring of 2001 at the league's training camp in Tampa, FL. He also served as an educator in Atlanta. Curry graduated from Columbia University with a degree in African-American studies. He was a four-year letterman as a defensive end at Columbia. As a senior, he earned all-conference honors and was voted as the team's MVP. A native of Atlanta, GA (born 1/21/77), Curry was the valedictorian of his graduating class at Archer HS in Atlanta. He and his wife, Ayana, have a daughter, Alia (5). http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/team/fro...bio.jsp?id=1241 -

JP Losman 1st quater 10/11 for 127 yards JP Losman the rest of the game 7/17 for 43 yards 1 td thats some exciting air it out type action right there It was a good start too bad he did nothing after that first quater. Infact that pretty much seemed to be his mo in the rare instance he played well. Hopefully he took a big jump in improvement.
