MartyBall4Buffalo replied to duey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thats also the last playoff game we won. This thread really is depressing. -
Name the Bills top two receivers

Jeremy McDaniel and Reggie Germany seems just as likely as the choices given -
Im content for now. They seem to be gravitating towards more athletic linemen better pass blockers and guards who are capable of pulling, as well as a more natural center in fowler. While not all star upgrades I think its decent for the time being. Of course a lot of this is wishful thinking, but we'll see

In recent memory the pitt game. So close to the playoffs regardless of whether or not you still think the jets would've lost to the rams had we beaten pittsburgh but to get so close to the playoffs and fail miserably that was pretty crushing. -

I never said LT wasn't good, but no I dont think he's better then Tiki Barber. sorry I just dont. Maybe its because Barber has more runs of 20+ yards the last 2 years 27 for barber to tomlinsons 14. Maybe it's because Barber has led the nfl in yards from scrimage each of the last 2 years as well. Just for comparison sake 2004 New York Giants 16 14 322 1518 4.7 72 13 11 77 2005 New York Giants 16 16 357 1860 5.2 95 9 16 72 2004 San Diego Chargers 15 15 339 1335 3.9 42 17 6 68 2005 San Diego Chargers 16 16 339 1462 4.3 62 18 8 71 so for the last 2 seasons Barber has more rushing yards, a better average, longer runs, more runs of 20+ yards more first downs and less tds. rec stats 2004 San Diego Chargers 15 15 53 441 8.3 74 1 3 3 16 2005 San Diego Chargers 16 16 51 370 7.3 41 2 4 1 15 2004 New York Giants 16 14 52 578 11.1 62 2 8 3 18 2005 New York Giants 16 16 54 530 9.8 48 2 5 1 19 once again tiki barber has more yards a better ypc average. More catches of 20+ yards same amount of catches of 40+ yards and more catches for 1st downs But yeah I'm smoking something alright.... -

Coach Tuesday vs. "The Football Scientist"
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont put much credence into "sacks given up" that could mean a multitude of things such as how long was the qb holding the football? was losman back there moving around causing fat bennie to have to adjust his block? was the wr covered forcing the qb to hold the ball longer? With that sad Bennie Anderson was simply immobile and in todays nfl you need your linemen to do more then inline block. We were stuck not being able to run off tackle and traps do the immobility of bennie anderson. If he got his hat on a guy he was ok its out in space that his limitations were abundantly clear. He'd get owned by dlinemen who could simply outhustle him to the spot. Teague was also a part of this problem as he was an unnatural center who simply got outmuscled right off the snap and couldn't adjust well in space and was not good at holding his point of attack. I think the new coaching staff and levy recognized this and this is why bennie and teague are no longer here. We can only hope fowler and reyes are upgrades -
A lot of this argument can be made for price in simply stating how awful Mike Vick is as a quaterback. The Dallas thing just seems him being thrust into the team and the victim of a #'s game not being given a chance to adapt to the offense and simply filling space till patrick crayton came back. 2003 Atlanta Falcons 16 15 64 838 13.1 49 3 2004 Atlanta Falcons 16 15 45 575 12.8 50 3 in 03 he was the falcons leading receiver, and taking into account how run oriented the falcons are they're actually pretty good #'s, in 04 he was the falcons 2nd leading receiver next to alge crumpler. This is also pretty telling about vick as he only played in 5 games in 2003 compared to 15 in 2004. Price's 40+ yard receptions didn't seem to drop either from the time he was in buffalo to his tenure in atlanta until vick was seeing more time at qb. Now all in all I dont care if Price "recaptures" what he did in buffalo in 02 as long as the offense as a whole can be more productive. I'd be happier if passes were more evenly distributed and a larger focus on the run game

I doubt it. Kurt Angle would whoop liddell. I'll take someone with legit real wrestling experience over a martial arts guy anyday. -
as much as culpepper was sacked it was mostly on his doing. I tend not to put sacks on scrambling qb's specfifically on the oline as in general scrambling qb's tend to get sacked more often then pocket qb's. I also think the vikings having no semblence of a running game contributes to high sack rates. I Culpepper was sacked once every 7 pass attempts Brad Johnson was sacked once every 13 pass attempts The biggest thing I hope Losman learns is when to run and when to simply step to avoid pressure.

yeah pretty much Culpeppers 2004 #'s with moss weeks moss played- 1, 2,3,5,6,12,13,14,15,16,17 3538 yards 25 tds 8 ints broken down that's 326 yards per game 2.3tds per game and just under a pick per game Culpeppers 2004 #'s without moss weeks moss didnt play- 7,8,9,10,11 1179 yards 9 tds 4 ints thats 236 yards per game 1.8 tds per game and 1.25 picks per game Miami has some formidble weapons that will definitly be productive including chambers, mcmichael, ronnie brown, and it could be argued that moss was a non factor in several games due to being injured however even an injured randy moss still has to be taken into consideration, but here's to hoping he never regains that form

NFL rule you would change first...
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to bluenews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Corner is probably the hardest position in the league outside of qb and one "screw up" could result in a 40 yard gain for the offense even in times where the ball is uncatchable. So I'd make pass interference only a 15 yard penalty. -

ESPN ranks Bills Pass Defense 26th in NFL
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Ramius's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even though Im a huge fan of Clements and I think McGee is only going to improve as well they're both fairly young, and before the draft we had extremly poor depth behind them at at the safety position. We replaced an agining run stoping safety who was a liability in coverage with Whitner, and added depth to corner spots and hopefully a future replacement for Troy Vincent in KO Simpson. From the fact we have fairly young an inexperienced depth behind 2 solid corners and a rookie starting ss I think the ranking is justified. Although I think this is one area were we will prove to be better then what the "experts" think. -

Derrick Thomas was one of the best pass rushers in the league 126 total sacks in his nfl career 7 of his 11 years with 10+ sacks I'll give you the stuff about his kids but he was a very good pass rushing lb. he deserves to be in the hof with sack stats like this Year AGE Team LG GP SK 1989 22 KAN NFL 16 10.0 nfl defensive rookie of the year 1990 23 KAN NFL 15 20.0 league leader beat out bruce by 1 sack. 1991 24 KAN NFL 16 13.5 1992 25 KAN NFL 16 14.5 1993 26 KAN NFL 16 8.0 1994 27 KAN NFL 16 11.0 1995 28 KAN NFL 15 8.0 1996 29 KAN NFL 16 13.0 1997 30 KAN NFL 12 9.5 1998 31 KAN NFL 15 12.0 1999 32 KAN NFL 16 7.0 0 11 NFL Season Totals 169 126.0 for the Hall of shame I nominate Ray Lewis- The guy gets talked about like hes the face of the league, and while a good player no longer the great player he once was. The whole murder rap soured his image for me. Ricky Williams- fairly obvious. Chris Henry- as I typed this he was probably arrested again -

Comparing the Bills to the Patriots
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to 2003's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
a couple things. Most likely it's branch/jackson and not branch/brown but yeah I'd still keep that =. Another thing I'm pretty sure Matt Light is the pats starting lt in which case Light>Gandy. Otherwise ok. Also if Rodney Harrison is healthy he's their starting ss in which case at least for right now Harrison>Whitner. No offense while I'm not a fan of doing this kind of thing There is no way that schobel= richard seymour. Richard Seymour is far and away the most disruptive defensive linemen in the nfl. In a 4-3 he's the best dt in the league hands down and he's also the best 3-4 de in the league hands down. Seymour imo is the one player the patriots can ill afford to lose outside of brady. -
