  1. Its only preseason but I felt in the 04 draft Phillip Rivers was the best qb available and wanted the bills to get him very badly. Yeah his delivery was a little funky, but he's an extremely accurate qb. I think he holds the NCAA record for completition pct and I put a great deal of emphasis on accuracy more then any other qb attribute. This Rivers 3rd year now in the same system. Yeah it's his first time playing but I won't be suprised if he plays well during the course of the year.
  2. sorry but no. I like Sam Aiken. I think he's probably our best st's player, but I highly doubt he'll ever be as productive a wide receiver as moulds.
  3. quote=pkwwjd,Aug 14 2006, 11:59 AM] After a couple of replays, frame by frame, the RB's right (IIRC) foot was planted on the ground when Donte had already begun his tackle. Contact was made between the two players while the RB's foot was still in bounds -- and well before any part of the body touched the white stripe. 742931[/snapback] I noticed the same thing on that, when I re-watched the game last night It was close enough to be a late hit but it seemed donte's shoulder made contact with deangelo williams before williams stepped out of bounds. I was happy he was willing to make contact a lot of guys would've pulled up on that. I want guys on this defense who are willing to hit.
  4. KO Simpson should be the Bills starting fs in 2006. Odds are we're not going anywhere this year and even if we were troy vincent is no longer the kind of player to make or break a team. He probably still has game left, but Id prefer to see the younger guys play. I'm hoping KO only improves and shows enough to start and Baker solidifies the backup spot making Vincent expendable
  5. Nope, I didn't. I could care less about JP Losman or Kelly Holcomb outside of the fact that they're competing for the same position for my favorite team in my favorite sport. I have no real prefrence one way or the other. I'm void of emotional attachment to either one. I didnt draft JP Losman, nor did I go out and sign Kelly Holcomb. As long as one of the guys outright wins the job definitively and gives the bills the best shot at winning a superbowl trophy well that's all that matters. Neither guy has proved much of anything other then they're both equally bad in spurts and sometimes pretty good in spurts. Sad to say more bad then good. However under no circumstances will I willingly cheer for failure of a Bills player unless said player caused physical harm to myself, family or friends outside of the sport. May the best man win the qb competition
  6. I went with D only because I felt I couldnt go with B. I'm of the belief even a mildly decent pass game takes extreme pressure off the run game allowing less 8-9 man fronts, more so then the other way around unless you have a really good run blocking line, which at this point I'm unsure of. It's early in preseason and not enough adequate information to fully judge Losman, but I'd give him this year, and judge from there. I dont know what you define as "breakthrew" but if he doesn't show marked improvement as the year goes on in accuracy, and field awareness, and learn to use touch on certain passes paticularly short range throws then yeah Id cut rope and move on. I dont have a problem taking a fa qb either depending who's available next year, but I feel if we're gonna end up that bad and have a shot at either Quinn or Stanton then yeah Id go with the 1st rd qb
  7. Yeah but it's just the titans Im not really a big fan of reggie bush as I felt he was a little overrated I prefered lendale white, but theres no denying bush's ability. I still have my questions about whether he can work an inside run game and carry the load at the nfl level.
  8. I didnt see the game on tv and wont be able to until 7am tomorrow but to keep things in a little perspective JP played an ok game against 2nd and 3rd stringers Im assuming the majority of the time he was in. For anyone that saw the game If he played against 1st stringers how did he fare?
  9. Whoever the starter is pretty much needs all the playing time they can get. Injuries wont really matter at qb as at this time they're all pretty compareably bad
  10. Is it still the starting oline in the game?
  11. I like that kevin everett is getting some passes thrown his way. Nothing is more important to a qb especialy a young qb then a reliable target at te.
  12. chosing between the vet with the girly arm or the youngster with horrible field awareness and bad accuracy. Should be an exciting season Obviously theres a lot of things yet to work on hopefully they show some marginal improvement by week 4 of the regular season
  13. at least moorman can kick the crap out of the ball yet.
  14. Int holcomb td panthers. Time to put in Losman
  15. exciting stuff up the middle up the middle pass for no gain punt awesome lol I love preseason
  16. Delhomme with an efficent passing game directed most of that drive right at terrence mcgee (at least according to nfl.com pbp). It's preseason and vanilla but still a little disapointing.
  17. I still feel eric moulds has been the victim of circumstance throughout his career with the Bills, as far as the different qb's, different coaches, systems etc etc etc. He was however the only stalwart on the team through the last decade. I will always believe had he had a steady qb he would've blown andre reeds stats with the bills out of the books. and be recognized as one of the top receivers in the game which imo he was. I wish E-mo the best of luck in the dwindling of his career with the Houston Texans.
  18. In all fairness that might have had something to do with Mularkeys system. Not saying Mularkey was an idiot or forgot how to coach offenses, but it just seemed last year he was trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Could've had something to do with the injuries to the oline, but Willis was never known as a powerful inside runner. Trying to turn him into Mularkeys version of Jerome Bettis just wasn't one of the brighter ideas. I know people like to think "Well Willis was slow last year" but the stats just don't bear that out. A 4.4 ypc average wide right and 4.0 to the right side. 4.1 to the left. Granted only 2.9 to wide left which has me concerned about Gandy, but I think with the switch to more athletic linemen. Reyes will be able to pull out something anderson just wasn't good at. The drop in Mcgahees average comes from running up the gut of the offense 125 times which is up there with the likes of bettis and larry johnson. It could be argued the interior of our oline was the weakest part of the unit. Whether or not it's been improved is up for debate. I'll take a wait and see approach on that, but If I have a rb like Mcgahee I'd want to get him out in space enable him to hit the edges, and try to get around the corner which he had success doing running to the right side of the line. I just still think it's rather odd that McGahee was averaging 4.7 ypc early in the season to a nose dive once Mularkey openly complained about just hitting the hole and taking whats there. The rest of the offense I wont touch on cause well we haven't seen fairchilds offense yet, but I think his assocation with saunders and martz and gibbs is that they all come from a the Don Coryell system as gibbs started as an offensive line coach under Coryell at SD State. Martz learned the system from vermeil as well as Al Saunders learning it from coryell with the chargers , and fairchild having worked with Martz as well, so I'm guessing thats where the connection comes from.
  19. I absolutely loved the breakdown of the run game and why it didnt work, and has me amped to see fairchilds new look offense. Of course its still football and you still need to block to open holes, but his breakdown explains a lot of the problems with the run game last season. If nothing else whether we're good or bad Im excited to see how fairchilds offense develops.
  20. yeah I agree but on the complete opposite end of the spectrum that bengals cheerleader looks hideous
  21. granted its only preseason game 1 but the raiders all around look rather lousy. If Westbrook punked them like that I can only imagine what LJ or LT will do. For the eagles their defense looked stifiling. Darren Howard will prove to be a great addition for that defense. I still have questions about their offense though, but they looked good albeit against the raiders.
  22. its really all in how its structured Baltimore Ravens SS Ed Reed signed a seven-year contract extension with base salaries of $585,000 (2006), $595,000 (2007), $605,000 (2008), $3.6 million (2009), $6.0 million (2010), $6.5 million (2011) and $7.2 million (2012). that's a great bargin for the first 3-4 years reed probably wont see the bigger money in the last 3
  23. I agree. like you said Price was not in the greatest of situations and looking at his #'s and considering who played qb in atlanta he put up respectable #'s in a run dominated offense. So much so the falcons ranked 29th and 31st the two years price was there and despite having a run dominated offense with a qb who isn't known for his passing skills he managed to put up respectable #'s of that of a good #2 on most teams, not all that different then his first 3 years in buffalo. I dont see it as Price declining so much as the offense he was in. With adequate qb play I think evans/price can develop into a pretty good 1/2 punch. I'm not even looking for monster #'s out of either of them just keep defenses respectable enough so we dont see constant 8-9 man fronts to gang up on the run.
  24. the only time madden doesnt sound retarded is on the radio. He comes off extremely knowledgeable and bright, however on camera he's a bumbling fool. I dont know if anyone else caught this. After the HOF ceremony yesterday on NFL Network rich eisen and mooch were interviewing madden, and Mooch was mentioning how it was nice to involve your family with your old team and madden said something along the lines of .... "Yeah, well you got the kids, and the wife and kids, and the kids with wife and kids and kids running around, some kids sleeping, and other kids drinking milk and stuff"
