  1. To add to the thread, to the original post. To me it just seems rather contrived right now. I'm sure like all other coaches who were former players Van Pelt gives JP some advice, but it just has that feel good effect that we heard about with JP and Sam Wyche. Like Buftex said JP is gonna have to show it on the field. Its nice for pr to hear the good stories, but that just doesnt cut it anymore. Play well or ship out.
  2. bah The eagles let vincent and bobby taylor go because they already drafted their replacements in lito shepard and sheldon brown. Hanging onto damaged goods might keep some guys morale happy, but I feel Vincent does more long term damage occupying a roster spot then the short term damage of releasing him outright. Bill from NYC alluded to a Bill Walsh quote from a previous thread It was a thread about Moulds but I think this also screams out Troy Vincents name. Vincent just doesnt strike me as someone who is all rah rah team, and actualy not only a detriment to the younger players who are being instilled into Jaurons system, but a detriment in the sense that Vincent isn't one of those guys who will give it his all anymore. This recent "not really being injured" and sitting out of practice he's "tired" is that really an example you want to set for a relativly young team. That players can half ass and sit out when they're "tired". The sooner KO Simpson gets in there and learns by playing the better off the Bills will be. We have plenty of defensive back coaches on this team. Vincent isn't adding much of anything that isn't already there other then an unjustifiable contract, and a bad example for the young rookies who look to him for advice.
  3. Not in the least, like others in this thread have pointed out McCargo is raw didnt really play all that much in college and will take some time to develop. The college games I did see McCargo play, and even the past preseason game, when he's sure of himself theres not many people who have the inital explosion he has. I think a lot of people down on McCargo are taking a harsh reaction approach to his development because of the seemingly fast deveolpment of 5th rd pick Kyle Williams. During the preseason game, although he didnt make as many plays as williams I usually noticed McCargo was one of the fastest dl off the snap and into the backfield stringing plays wide, and causing general disruption. Once it clicks for him he's going to be great. I think it was the NC state coach awhile back that said something along the lines that McCargo was faster off the snap of the ball then both Mario Williams and Manny Lawson. I liken McCargo to Broderick Bunkley just not as hyped, and was very happy when we selected him. The results wont be immediate but I believe a year, year and a half from now We'll have ourselves a great dt tandem of McCargo/Williams.
  4. Michael Vick is a tremendous athlete. He's exciting to watch, I just wouldnt want him quaterbacking my team. sh-- for brains, and couldnt hit the broad side of a barn yard door. Considering that offense Price Put up pretty good #'s in fact better then anyone there. Price has the most receiving yards as a falcon with vick as a qb, and the most yards for a falcon wr in 03 since terrance mathis in 1999. Price might not have "lived up to his contract" but its not really his fault atlanta misjudged the type of wr they were getting matching him with the athlete behind center that they have. Calling Vick a quaterback is an insult to real qbs
  5. Im pleasantly suprised with Kyle Williams play in all honesty I thought Claude Wrotten was the better of the two. Before April I had Bunkley, Wrotten and McCargo as the top 3 dts. I wanted no part of ngata or gabe watson. Ngata struck me as a guy when you pay him his big check in round one he'd cash it in and half ass it till he was no longer in the league, and I am extremely glad we didnt draft him. With that said. It's going to take McCargo at least a year to improve but once he does he's going to be great. Theres not a guy who has more acceleration off the ball. He can stop plays before they start, and I'll bet money on it he turns into a more productive dt then Haloti Ngata
  6. Apology accepted Really though I agree. I think Chris Villarrial is on borrowed time. His age and amount of games played is definitly catching up to him. I'm concered he no longer has the durability to last a full season, or the amount of time left in his career to be productive part of building a cohesive offensive line. Nothing against the guy personally, but I dont see him anymore as being productive when blocking in space or pulling for traps or sweeps, or stretch or counter plays. Id really like to see Preston supplant him and let villarrial move on. It would probably be in the best interest for the bills future to instill youth on the oline, as by the time losman progresses enough and the oline is good villarrial will be out the door and we'll looking again to supplant him, when we could just put preston there now and let him try his hand. No harm no foul.
  7. Welcome to the club. There was two qbs I had my hopes set on in that draft rivers and schaub. I wanted nothing to do with Losman. He scared me cause of how raw he was. I felt he was a kyle boller pat deux, where as Schaub seemed more composed and would be more nfl ready and a easier transition from bledsoe then losman. With that said though. I'm willing to give Losman time, and am encouraged by what I saw in the carolina game he looked a lot more composed then I remember seeing him last season.
  8. It depends. If he follows the martz model the te's will primarily be used for blocking. However Im gonna just throw this out there. I think the way this offense is set up for more run oriented it'll be more like the Al Saunders version of the Don "Air" Coryell offense where you have your one blocking te ala Robert Royal, and the te primarily used as a outlet receiver that being Kevin Everett like Saunders had in Kc with Jason Dunn and Tony Gonzalez. Now Im not saying this is the direction he goes, but I wouldn't be suprised. You Nailed the point about the rams O passing game. Speedy wr's quick passes designed for yard after catch. Safe throws and occasionaly throwing deep. However I believe fairchild will take on the Saunders like philosphy of more run oriented version. On Paper I love the philosophy, and when its clicking its a great offense, but I expect everett and even royal to be involved in the passing game as well as blocking. I think we'll see a lot of two te sets this year, and in time everett and even royal can become scoring threats especially down in the redzone.
  9. The trade is good from a standpoint we got a starter out of a 5th rd pick, for a wr on the downside of his career. Eric Moulds is one of my all time favorite bills, but if Kyle Williams helps us improve in the trenches on defense and becomes a good dt then you really can't argue with the trade.
  10. Troy Vincent injured? Theres a shocker I hope KO shows more ballhawking ability and we can be done with Mr. Vincent
  11. yup the top 10 best average back
  12. I prefer to go the route that he's just a big dork not that theres anything wrong wit that.... But good to see Losman and the starting center bonding. Nothing is more important then the relationship between the oline and the quaterback.
  13. Yeah 3rd rd picks who missed an entire season, then have to learn a whole new system are suppouse to dominate off the bat For the record he had 2 catches for 10 yards in the preseason game against the panthers. Lets wait awhile before predicting failure.
  14. RUSHING ATT YDS TD LG D. Foster 5 25 0 13 D. Williams 8 21 0 20 E. Shelton 4 18 0 11 A. Haynes 2 13 0 11 S. LeFors 1 6 0 6 J. Robertson 1 -1 0 -1 B. Basanez 2 -3 0 -1 Overall I dont think we did a bad job against the run 23 att 79 yards 3.4ypc and no touchdowns, and personaly I thought the depth at dt looked rather good the obvious being kyle williams. McCargo was also in the opposing backfield making plays on the times I watched him. I agree with you about Tim Anderson but I'm willing to give him more then 1 preseason game in the new system before calling for his removal from the starting rotation.
  15. that wouldnt be a problem for him I guess isn't losman part mexican?
  16. yeah belichick is smarter then everyone else ad nausem Roman Phifer managed a 15 year career in the nfl and was a pretty decent lb for the rams and jets before going to ne in 01 on the downside of his career, with his better years far behind him. Mike Vrabel a former steeler didnt work out in pitt. I dont overstate the loss of older players, but unless Colvin is fully recovered from his hip injury they will miss McGinest abilty to rush the qb. I'm not saying Belichick isn't a good coach but I'm not exactaly fearing a lb core of mike vrabel/tedy bruschi/ monty f'n beisel and roosevelt colvin. What makes the patriots defense go is the best defensive linemen in the nfl #93 richard seymour. Miami's starting secondary for now is. Will Allen/Travis Daniels at corner travares tillman at ss and Renaldo Hill at fs although I assume jason allen will beat him out for that.
  17. thats really not that far off. Hulk Hogan plays politics backstage. Troy Vincent plays politics in the locker room and for the nflpa but to be fair to Hogan Troy Vincent wouldn't compete with injuries. He'd miss a month or two
  18. One more wrestling related thing. If you get MSG On Wednesdays they air from 8-10 wwf msg classics. it's worth checking out if you like/liked wrestling
  19. Yeah she's engaged to Kenny of the spirit squad, but damn is she hot
  20. good for JP. I still only hope he goes out and earns it by being outright better then holcomb/nall and not being the guy who got it because the other guy lost it.
  21. A better option then cedric houston and good insurance for curtis martin at least for the short term. Suggs and Houston will probably split carries. Good trade for both teams.
  22. Id also like to add keith ellison. Forget what you read about this guy timing slow in the 40. He brings good sideline to sideline speed. I have a feeling this guy like Crowell before him will be a starter in about 2-3 years.
  23. I was extremely impressed with Williams he never let up ever. The guys style of play definitly fits this defense and I wont be suprised to see him get the starting nod over Tiny Tim. I was also impressed with McCargo and backup de Eric Powell. Now granted I didnt exclusively focus on just the dline but everytime I watched them they were creating some kind of pressure in the backfield. I know it's too early to speculate but the suppoused weakness of our dline might actually be a strength.
  24. Not to spoil your parade but gb had the #1 ranked pass defense last year in the nfl
