Flutie was a winner in the CFL
in the NFL he had steaks of average mixed in with the occasional flash of something interesting.
He is way too old to invest in as a #2. The guy will be 43 in Oct.

I will gladly watch a new Hockey league with replacement players and a hard salary cap of 40 million next season.
If the pros never want to come back I wouldn't care even a tiny bit. I will gladly enjoy it when they all start to cross over and accept new cheaper contracts.
However no matter what happens Bettman needs to be canned as the NHL's commisioner

Cutting Prioleau pre 6/1 save 1.25 mil

He has explained this in his article and about a dozen times in similiar threads

how about a one tier bonus vs. the two tier bonus that donahoe gave him?
how about bigger salaries in the first few years of the deal and smaller escalators in the back end?
both of these moves would have allowed the bills to space out the cap hit more evenly......donahoe made a choice to backend the deal........
Front loading MW's contract would have changed the team. We wouldn't have had the cap room to sign a few of the palyers we did.
The multi tiered bonus protect the Bills in case a player is a complete bust or has a career ending injury.
smaller esculators would be fine, but a#4 draft pick has expectation to the amount of money they would expect to be able to make through the lifetime of the deal based upon thise drafted in front of them and in back of them, and the contracts of picks from previous years.

JJ wants a 10 mil bonus, but if we could get him for a 5 year 25 mil deal with 6-8 mil in bonus money and low base salary and a 2 - 3 mil cap hit this year.
But LT usually get bigger offers then this.
I also don't feel JJ's heart is in Buffalo. You never hear him say he wants to stay like PW. Even Schobel jumped on the chance to sign a long term deal to stay a Bill.
the thing is we didn't sraft MW to be a RT, he was drafted, and is being paid to be a LT. Which makes me think the Bills will let JJ walk.

go str8 turn left

Teague is in the last year of his contract. I believe the Bills will let him play it out and let him walk next year while grooming replacemtns this year.

another way for Corporations to control their employees lifestyles.
A few weeks ago a company fired any of its workers that didn't quit or refused to quit smoking. Not just at the office but on thier own time.
and of course there is the whole pre-employment, and random drug testing thing.
Alcohol won't be too far behind. Don't want to pay someone who may come in hungover on a Monday.

I've followed clump's salary cap page and info for a few years. he has never been off by much.
We'll know for sure soon enough, but I tend to believe we are not in as good as shape as well all hoped.
-
If Teague has a roster bonus of 1 million coming due then it will probably happen.
However if the team is comfortable with Tucker then Teague can also be moved to RT if the Bills don't sign JJ. MW is already being paid like a LT and was expected to be the Bills left tackle of the future. When JJ leaves, the Bills more then likely move MW to LT. the Bills can resign Price and let him play RT, or they could see if Peters is capable of being a RT. However Teague use to play RT for Denver and would probably be the best most option while we groom Peters to play RT. Teague us a UFA next season, and we will probably know for sure if Peters can handle the RT position by then.
MW already is making big time LT money, JJ is going to want LT money. It seems a little far fetched that the Bills would tie up LT cash on 2 players.
There is a lot of sorting out to do.

Baas would be a huge score in the 2nd rd.
I don;t forsee him slipping that far down though. he is rated as one of the top G's
-
screw them. just start a new league next year and build it from there.
-
The players are not scheduled to report yet so I wouldn't expect him to be there.
-
The salary cap news just gets more depressing.
Clump have you had a chance to upgrade your salary cap page.
-
I'm willing to bet the 2 survivors who were given the boot becuase they weren't selected to a tribe come back later on and are re-instated.

I would of loved to sign Walter Jones, however just because his cap hit is manageable this year doesn't mean we wouldn't have had to pay the piper sooner or later. Seattle gave Jones a 56 mil 7 year contract. that included a 15 million signing bonus.
The Bills already have MW who's salary cap numbers esculated majorily this year. MW will have cap hits of 9 mil for the next 3 seasons. For what the Bills are paying MW I can almost guarentee he will be playing LT this season, and JJ is gone. It would be nice ot have JJ back, but replacing a RT is alot cheaper then resigning a LT. MW is making LT money !!

Maddox would be one of our best options IMO.
However his cap hit in Pittsburgh is very manageable. Pitt does have cap concerns but cutting Maddox won't solve them so I don't think he will be available

RJ was film buff and a practice monster.
I'm glad JP is working at it, but we need to see it on the field

As has been stated, Big Mike's contract isnt THAT bad. We'll still have plenty of wiggle room. If I were GM:
1) Re-sign Pat Williams
2) Trade Travis for LJ Shelton (to replace Jonas)
3) Sign Mike Wahle (our only big name FA move)
4) Sign Dane Looker or Alex Bannister (3rd WR...they both are cheap)
5) Sign either Buckhalter or Zereoue (Buck is better, but Amos is cheaper and more familiar with Mularkey's system)
6) Sign Freddie Jones (a player who has been amazingly improperly used over the last few years
And thats really it for free agency...one big free agent and then a bunch of depth players who have potential. Then in the Draft, hopefully get a 3rd CB, a 3rd QB and more O-Line depth. Hopefully a new kicker too, but thats just my own pipe dream
Can you guarentee Travis for LJ Shelton ? Sheltons cap hit is 3 mil per season for 2006 - 2008. this does not include any roster bonuses or whatever else is written into his present contract.
You haven't signed any back up QB's in your list. this is a priority. This can be done cheapily with Mathews.
We should resign Marcus Price becuase he is good solid OL depth, and we need it.
I don't see all of your wish list being able ot fit under the 10 million we will have to work with. Especially Wahle who is going to command close to 4 million.
-
Hows that for a good start to FA.
Wahle might very well be cut, Franks is thinking he is as good as gone because theres been no talk, and Hovan had a poor season last year so he cant command big money.
But we gotta get that LT spot fixed. If Jennings wont re-sign here and we cant land LJ Shelton, I say move big Mike over and sign a RT like Womack or McKenzie.
Given the recent news about Mike Williams cap esculators and new cap hit I don't think we will have any cash to sign Wahle or Franks. Definitely not both. Especially with the need for some QB depth
We will have the cash to sign PW, JJ or a replacement, a backup QB and our RFA's. After that we probably only have enough cash left over for a depth pick up, and the rookie pool.
