Have you ever been arrested?
BF_in_Indiana replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Several years ago we went just across the state line into Michigan and saw a movie. It was the middle of winter and we had a car load of people and a truck with a couple people in it as well. Now having been through this area several times (you have to take the interstate up there) we had noticed that there were several road barrels blocking off an exit on the way back into Indiana. Well Those of us in the car played lookout and Rudy and another friend jacked the road barrel. They threw it in the back of this guys truck and we all took off. Well the trouble was, there was nothing to conceal the barrel and Rudy was forced to lay on top of it for about 15 miles with no coat on int he middle of winter. Ask him how cold it was when we come to the opener. It was very funny. We eventually spray painted a bunch of obscenities on it and threw it in the front yard of the vice principal of the high school. Good times, good times. -
What does him hitting the wrong guy have to do with what I was trying to point out? I was saying that security wasn't even paying attention to what happened. Nowhere did I state that Ron was a victim in that post.
-
I have never said he should have layed on the table. That has nothing to do with the argument I've tried to make from the beginning. As far as the "probably would have" stuff, I guess you have a point, but I think they would have still hit him with beer or other objects. They are just trash up there in Detroit. They were punks when I went to the game in Indy. They just don't know when to keep to themselves. They remind me of Patriot fans.
-
SECURITY wasn't even moving towards those guys when Ron jumped off the scorers table. They were just standing there looking the other way. Watch the tape again.
-
Yeah Ron wasn't there so they thought they would fight each other. Only in Detroit.

A couple of points LA. 1. Ron Artest did NOT incite those fans. Ben Wallace incited them with his choolyard thug antics. 2. As it was pointed out, if Ron Artest had went to the bench and sat down by himself the same thing would have happened, it probably would have just been another person throwing the beer. 3. Ron Artest doesn't have the best attitude in the world. That's been established.

I've never been arrested. I've done plenty to get arrested for, but I am usually a smart criminal. -
Very well said.

That wasn't me, there was another poster with that avatar and description. I had a picture of the Pacers logo with the slogan "The New Bad Boys" under it.

The change in culture doesn't nessecarily jusitfy his actions, what I was trying to point out is that todays America is not the same as it was 25 years ago. People like Ron Artest are everywhere. You believe he should be held to a higher standard because he is paid a lot of money to do his job. Fine, fair enough. In reality the fans are his boss. They pay his paycheck and dictate NBA policy regarding things like what happenend in Detroit. Ron Artest was not suspended because the NBA thought he was wrong in his actions, but rather they answer to their fans and their fans as a whole were insulted by what happened. Well why are they insulted? Fans were at the root of the whole situation to begin with. Yeah sure, a cup of beer in and of itself isn't a big deal, but the next thing you know some pyscho is going to kill a performer while they are performing. Oh nevermind, that already happened in December. Fans can not cross the line that was crossed in Detroit that night. To hold Ron Artest soley responsible or even as the main root of the problem is just not a correct line of thinking.
-
He has given up 1 run in his last 10 innings this spring. It looks like the problem is corrected. I'm not concerned.

I can certainly understand that an older more mature person would have probably taken the high road on this matter, however I also understand that todays 20 something American has a much more violent nature than someone who is in their 40's had when they were in their 20's. Why? It's culture. Culture has changed. The younger generation of Americans do not allow themselves to be treated with such disrespect. Should Ron Artest have behaved differently? Probably. Should he have been suspended the entire season? No. David Stern cost Reggie Miller a shot at a title when it wasn't warranted and that quite honestly PISSES ME OFF.

And when they can't pick a fight with opposing players, they turn on each other............ "With 1:59 left in the game Friday night, fans were fighting each other in the upper section of the lower level and one man was carried out of the seating area by several security guards. "
-
Lets take a rewind shall we? 1. Ron Artest fouls Ben Wallce (and was whistled for it). 2. Ben Wallace (DETROIT) tries to start an on court brawl. 3. Ron Artest walks away and lays on the scorers table to avoid the fight. 4. DETROIT FAN throws beer on Ron Artest. 5. Ron Artest does what any average citizen on the street would do if someone threw a beer on them. 6. Ron Artest suspended for season, O'Neal for 25 games, Jackson 30 games, and the person who started the brawl to begin with, Ben Wallace, 6 lousy games. 7. Two games in Indiana with no incidents. 8. DETROIT FAN calls in bomb threat to Palace delaying the game by almost 2 hours. Those Detroit fans are saints I tell you.
-
What a surprise.........the Detroit fans AGAIN acting like thugs. I was at the second Pacers Pistons game in Indy and the crowd booed and let the PISStons have it verbally, but this is outreagous. Yep it's all on Artest.........what a joke. Screw the NBA and David Stern. At least we stomped them in Detroit AGAIN.

Busch Stadium for a World Series game. I only have one more year left for that, next year the new Busch opens. I would love to go to opening day there. It would be really cool. And anywhere the Bills play in the Super Bowl again -
So you want to own a World Series trophy?

Now if we were talking about the 1982 St. Louis Cardinals trophy I might be interested. I do have a picture of it from the Cardinals museum when I visited there several years ago. A thing of BEAUTY it is. -

Viper makes very good alarms, they won't zap you, but they are very nice, I have a Viper alarm system on my jeep. It does talk. Cableladies son and his friend had a good laugh at it the last time I visited. -
If James Hetfield OD'd you would have heard about it, trust me. I check heavy metal news sites on a daily basis and there hasn't been a thing, I think it's safe to say you fell for a pranksters little attempt at humor.

Happy that Bonds Won't Play?

You didn't hear Mark McGwire bashing the media. Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa are the two biggest jerks in baseball history. -
School shooting in northern Minnesota
BF_in_Indiana replied to Fezmid's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The funniest thing I ever heard was when the police in Littleton Colorado came out and said that the Columbine shooters were huge Marilyn Manson fans and that music had something to do with their rampage. It was later learned that not only were they not fans of Marilyn Manson, but they didn't like his music at all. The media in this country is disgusting. -

I see it is already being reported that the shooter was a fan of heavy metal music. When will people realize that music does not cause NORMAL people to kill people. This individual obviously had some issues that he couldn't deal with and heavy metal music was not one of them.
