in D-I basketball there ~330 schools eligible so roughly 1 in 5 teams makes the tourney. In D-IA, there are 120 teams, so exactly 1 in 5 makes it. Not Rocket Surgery. FWIW, After the 120 teams there is FCS aka D-IAA with another 100+ schools before you get down to D-II.

simple top 24 teams, top 8 get a bye week 1, 5 week playoff. Each conference gets their champion a bid, the rest are subject to an at large process similar to the college basketball tournament. clearly no team not ranked in the top 15 won't be excluded from the tourney, and you have a decisive champion. Also, this benefits future NFL players as they get more exposure and experience against top talents. In addition, you could bigger upsets as national champs than some computerized rankings will ever deem. In addition, you will have as many playoff games as bowl games that currently exist. so yeah, I clearly believe the bowl system is archaic outdated and only benefits corporate america, and the teams that qualify for one of the big 5 games.

there are mid major teams that are better than almost all of the bull **** BCS conferences. Anyone who doesn't beleive that D-IA should move to a playoff system is the back pockets of these bowl committees.

a tackle in soccer is where you slide to dispossess the ball from the offensive player. An ideal tackle is clean to the point where you get the ball first while making minimal contact with the player. However, many tackles end up with contact. It could be considered a foul if you make contact first. You could end up being carded if you raise your foot off the ground in the process of tackling, and could easily get red carded by tackling with two raised feet.

The officiating failed miserably here. She needed to be redcarded a couple times over. This has happened with the guys as well over the years (except maybe the hairpulling) and they catch **** for it. Soccer is not a wimp's sport by any means, and more incidents like this will help reinforce this in american culture.

FWIW, NFl Champion teams have lost to college all-star teams as recently as 1963. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/College_All-Star_Game Clearly, the Tuskers probably have more developed talent than a bunch of rookies would, and clearly, hapless teams like the Bills, Raiders, Buccaneers and Rams, are nowhere near as developed of talent as a SB team. So, I believe that it is entirely possible that a team of NFL castoffs would be able to beat a team full of players that are close to being NFL castoffs. That said, as time goes by it is probably more like in the future IMO.

Rookie centers tend to not see the disguised blitzes, stunts, and shifts as well as veteran centers. So, Hangartner could have very well done the calls from guard, but the Bills brass felt that it was better to have him in the middle to see everything better I guess.
