Johnny Manziel: "Too many red flags."
justnzane replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in College Football
Do you think Babe Ruth would have made it through a 162 game season with the athletes on the diamonds of today? Do you think he'd be booming out balls off of pitchers like Kershaw and Verlander while hitting over .300? Ruth would be getting a lot of K's while being too fat to be on the field, meaning he'd have to be a DH. Nevermind, he'd probably be getting arrested for DWI's and drunk and disorderly conduct. -
Buffalo Bills - Through the Ages

good video, though I had to laugh that the first song was an instrumental version of a Taylor Swift song. -
This comes back to the NCAA owning a kids name and likeness. There are athletes who play gigs and sell albums, but are not allowed to use their legal name because the NCAA owns it. Even at the division 3 level, the NCAA is stingy about stuff. As a D3 track athlete, I won a big screen TV because my brackets were in the top 50 nationwide the year Syracuse won with Melo. I had to forfeit the prize (donate to charity) to retain my eligibility to compete in a sport that I essentially was paying to play (if you look at the fact that I paid for college credit for running track and cross country). The NCAA is a greedy organization that controls young athletes for financial exploitation.

While that is true, you must take into account the training facilities that they have. They burn a lot of cash on training pitches, dorms for youth players, schooling for youth players, nevermind they have a lot of debt from buying players in the last decade that they are paying off, which is a huge expense

Stock ownership and dividends are a part of it. Another part are the fact that Ronaldo, Messi, Rooney, etc. are paid $40 million/ year. They also pay for their stadiums, with minimal subsidies from the gubmint. I would assume that Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Man U have payrolls that are on par with or exceed the Yankees.

Sorry Jerry, you may not have the largest....

Turning off the Bills to avoid cursing in front of children? That is blasphemy!!!. The kiddies can handle pops getting all liquored up cursing at the TV while his favorite team is costing him money with a bookie -
Odd places you've met players

As a kid, my mom was a bartender in the Lancaster area, and I lived next to Kanata's in Depew. Frequently, I was dragged out of bed by my mom's boyfriends or barfly friends to meet Kelly, Reich, Thurman, Bruce, Talley, even Don Beebe (who didn't drink, really weird that he was at the bar next door to me), and Ray Bentley. Metzalaars and McKeller visited my elementary school. Poz visited the middle school I work at, and the Josh Reed went on a date my boss when I was a RA in Brockport, -
Seven reasons why Chip Kelly left Oregon?
justnzane replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One thing I am surprised that went by all of you guys is that the infractions dated back before Kelly was the head coach there. So Kelly may not be fully guilty on this one to begin with. -
Crime in the NFL (pretty charts included)
justnzane replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They are still averaging less than 1 per season. To say they are clearly #1 is erroneous, to say they are one of the better teams at weeding out trouble is more valid. -
Byrd Skipping mandatory mini-camp

Mitch, answer the question. You are waffling around like an even more wishy washy version of Mitt Romney or John Kerry. -
Chris Spielman: A Football Life
justnzane replied to Solomon Grundy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Correct. The Bills traded him away to the new Browns for "past considerations" as a favor to Spielman, knowing that he wasn't going to be a contributor for the Bills. -
Ted Johnson call Wilfork's wife "ugly"
justnzane replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, I'll give kudos to Ted Johnson for saying what I was thinking last fall when they repeatedly showed her texting him during the game. She is a slampig extraordinaire. -
Dareus is 99, so the latter part is unlikely

We will look back on this day in October, November, December and critique this decision based on the record of the team and the level of QB play that the Bills get. To me, I don't see why they couldn't have restructured with the 3million roster bonus being factored in. I also look at it as why Buddy didn't negotiate the roster bonus to be June 1st instead of March 12th. As much as we can say the Fritzy did poor last year, Buddy should have drafted a QB last year at some point. Buddy is running the ship into the ground

For the longest time, Union was one of the better D3 schools in the northeast for football.

Questions about Official 40 times
justnzane replied to buffalobillsgrl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Okay, I am a track coach and I can explain this in full detail. When hand-timing any race, there is an assumed human error of .24 seconds. When compared to a time that is recorded with cameras and computer software, the .24 seconds error is added to the hand-time. For example, Deion Sanders in college was clocked in 4.1 seconds in the 40, thus it is considered a 4.34 second 40 as he probably would have finished around that time. When ESPN or NFLN gives an unofficial time, it is most likely a hand-time, where as the cameras do not lie. The other possibility is that they are using cameras but do not have proper angle to see when the chest crosses the line. Furthermore, the official cameras have some calibration to judge when the player starts, which could be a bigger source of delayed results. Honestly, a track style gun start or a swimming style beep start would be easier. -

b I thought the Bills was clever haha -
I have been calling for his head for much longer than most. I honestly think a better coach could have won cups with Hasek and again post strike

Poll: Should the "Redskins" name be changed?
justnzane replied to Just in Atlanta's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Um, Exiled as a local coach in the area, I can tell you the West Seneca West is still the Indians. Their logo is either a big W or a W with an arrow going through it. Lancaster is still the Redskins, Cheektowaga is still the Warriors, and Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead
