  1. I agree with the other guys here. I have had back issues on and off since I was 15 and I competed in track in college (as a decathlete) and have run a number of road races from a mile to a marathon. My issues were usually groin pulls, back spasms/back alignment, and the occasional IT band injuries. I pulled my hammy once in a cold race for the 110 high hurdles, but no other issues there ever.
  2. Guys, I partially tore my LCL as a track athlete, and I was back in 6 weeks and 100% in 9 weeks. The LCL is a stabilizer more than a high demand ligament, and you don't put the same level of strain on it as the ACL or MCL. While it is a VERY painful injury, it is recoverable. To put that in comparison EJ's sprain, the time table should be closer to 2-6 weeks depending on the level of swelling. With most likely him being back before Halloween, when you consider that he was walking and biking at the game Thursday night.
  3. Not surprised, though the coverage and blocking for him last night was crap. Tank Carder almost blocked two of his kicks, and the second big return should have been stopped by the coverage unit. Powell had kicks that were flatter than a white girl's ass. So, he deserved to get canned
  4. I still hate the bastard for taking out JP's knee
  5. He still owes it to the viewers and the crowd. The crowd will boo him but that is part of the job. If he can't deal with it, he shouldn't be in the job.
  6. The reception and fumble was truly incomplete Chandlers one foot landed on the other foot and not on turf. This to me is questionable as it could be interpreted as the first foot is part of the field of play and thus the second would be on the field of play. The Woods call is questionable, I thought he trapped the ball against his bicep as he left foot was taking off the ground (i super slow mo'd it). The scoreboard dept and Boger both did the crowd a disservice. Scoreboard could have gave the replays that CBS was giving the viewers, and Boger did a crap job explaining to the crowd why the calls were overturned (minus the Chandler call). The call on Leonhard was dubious, and the Glenn holding call was not as bad as some of the ones that weren't called on Baltimore. I question the personal foul call on Glenn as well, as I thought you are allowed to pin a defender down.
  7. who is spillar? Is he some guy that works in the office? If that is the case, he will work at OBD until he pisses off Russ or Ralph.
  8. The hold wasn't on a receiver. Nonetheless, it is still a holding call if a defensive player holds an offensive player regardless of position (if he doesn't have the ball).
  9. Man, you guys are hard on Mario. On run plays to the other side, his responsibility may have been to have backside contain, in case it bounces back. Usually, in said case, you don't overpursue, you hold a position.
  10. This, as a former college track athlete, I got serious looks from a few D-I schools, but ended up at a D-III institution. The reality is that even at D-III the football players getting a higher meal allowance than a track athlete (I was 6-3 190 at the time, and bigger than a sizable minority of the football players). I understood that football generates the majority of donations, thus they get the highest cut of the pie. With a major D-I school, it would be insane to have the sports that aren't named football or mens' basketball get the same share as the two mentioned sports. For football and basketball, it wouldn't be unreasonable to pay the players something along the lines of minimum wage for hours required in-season, since they are essentially employees of the university. Figure that a season is approximately 30 weeks (counting spring ball) at 30 hours/week (practice, lifting, training, etc.) at 7.25/hour times 85 scholarships. That is a measly 625 grand that is spent total, or $7400 per player. That would do wonders for helping a kid to live while not being allowed to work during college (which most D-I football players and b-ball players are not allowed by coaching staff to do).
  11. Can't we just agree that a stadium that has over 60,000 seats filled should not be blacked out to the public, when you consider tax payer funds finance the stadiums, fans buy a ton of apparel, and the NFL Sunday Ticket should enable someone to watch all NFL games regardless of location (otherwise it is discrimination based on location)? The fact that the NFL has gotten away with this sham for 50 years, when it has proven to be detrimental to its franchises that get blacked out with regular frequency (see Rams, Raiders, Cardinals, Browns, Colts), is staggering on a criminal level. The majority of income for most franchises comes from television revenue. Thus, it does a huge disservice to the franchise and the league to black-out the games, when it needs fans to watch the substandard product known as a Dallas Cowboys game.
  12. I saw Kyle Williams being hugged by a lineman numerous times. It was laughably bad. Don't worry, we'll get one hold call against next time.
  13. Body is not out of bounds until it touches the white. Contact was initiated before foot hit the ground on the white.
  14. From NFL Rule book: Section 21 Out of Bounds and Inbounds Spot Player or Official out of bounds Article 1 A Player or an Official is Out of Bounds when he touches: a A boundary line: or b Anything oter than a player, an official, or a pylon on or outside a boundary line. Stripes screwed the call up
  15. Did anyone else think that the Bucs got hosed on the late hit call as Smith had not had a foot down out of bounds?
  16. History creates reputation, combine that with extending Fitz, giving contracts to dead weight players, and hiring 3rd tier coaches. You have to start somewhere to create an atmosphere where players want to be here. You mention an extension of an old running back as a point, when I'd say they extended him too long.
  17. Bills carried over 9 million to this year They have 19 million to spend this year. Yes, they are 19 million under the cap. An elite safety is not worth elite $? That is why our franchise never progresses, because we let our talent go elsewhere to succeed: Winfield, P Williams, Spikes, Fletcher, even lesser guys that were worth keeping around like Greer. That speaks volumes when you get rid of guys who pull their weight.
  18. We don't ever spend all of our cap $, we can afford this guy. He is worth it.
  19. I am taking my best understanding of capology here and trying apply it. I think the way his cap figure works is that he has 2.3 from previous contract salary and bonus. The 4 year extension is essentially a 5 year deal for 25.4 where the 9million bonus can be divided up evenly or frontloaded. Since his cap figure is only 5.6m, his cap figure is $1.8m in new bonus money plus the 2.3 leftover from last contract plus a salary raise for this season of 1.5 million thus equaling the 5.6 cap figure. Just my best guess
  20. They have to be looking to get an interior lineman, and a corner and likely a QB
  21. So you like having wood on your back? That answers a couple questions I had about you
  22. An 18 game schedule doesn't mean squat in the grand scheme of things. The problems are as follows: The NFL never should have implemented a policy where the preseason games are charged at full price and forced upon season ticket holders These exhibitions should never be blacked out. These games do help whittle down the lineup. Each team should be able to carry 60 players on a roster and 53 active if they were actually concerned about player safety as you would have more players taking reps from each other and less injuries as fatigue is the largest contributor to injuries. The NFL teams carry less players than practically every college and many high schools, this leads to more wear and tear on stars instead of rotating in fresh players as needed. If they were serious about player safety, they would implement more bye weeks. The body tends to burn out when asked to put a high level of exertion on it every week in a competition setting. They could lengthen the season to cover more of the summer with said bye weeks and extra games if you'd like. The NFL should not be relying on pre-season tickets for players salaries. /rant
