  1. To summarize three threads and 50 pages in a nutshell. HA thinks everyone else here doesn't know squat about statistics and insists that they are wrong by bringing out his logic. Everyone else thinks HA is butchering statistics and the usage of regression towards the mean. I'll give HA credit for taking 50 pages of abuse, and still plugging along. However, I feel dumber every time i read these threads , especially knowing that i have contributed to this cluster!@#$.
  2. yo sorry to hear /dev. :best wishes:
  3. only 85 pounds Holy Shiznit, having sex with her would be like having sex w/ a skeleton
  4. ok i have to ask this question HA: "What mathematical background do you have, and what statistical backgroudn do you have (please include grades for this one)?"
  5. i am glad to see him finally get recognition from the fans... i was crusading for him earlier in the year, and i have a dandy of a quote from kelso's helmet in my sig

  7. but also in that old alignment it was flawed so we barely faced seattle (they had only been at buffalo once before the new system and that was 20 years into its existence in 96) and not too much against tampa over the years either (only 8 times total, and IIRC never in buffalo)
  8. Them bastages!!!! Holy crap i can't believe they'd urinate here on the wall
  9. hahaha, yeah i didn't get a chance to study for this one with huge assignments due this past week and tuesday. (im working on a unit plan as i am typing this) But i think i did well enough, and if i didn't i'll be able to prove HA wrong. In addition, to get certified to teach in NYS, you need to pass 3 different tests and successfully complete student teaching plus another 100 hours in the classroom.
  10. today i was in south buffalo for a teaching test, and i saw a question in my booklet that had a bell curve in it. My first thought was "Oh crap where is Holcomb's Arm, i can use his help" MY second thought was "sh-- there is no regression in this question"
  11. Doesn't this mean that HA's IQ is progressing towards the mean?
  12. Was it him? I could be wrong there, but i always thought will ferrell did something where his voice was messed up.
  13. The olny way i'll ever repsect the Leafs is if there logo is this : New Maple Leafs logo
  14. so if the only point is that simple, hwy have you been arguing for the past two weeks about it? Also, your final sentence is true, not because of regression, but because there less people score a 160 than 140. EDIT: to honor previous requests, please stop referring to statistical variance as luck
  15. Pretty well stated; and in regards to that last paragraph, I agree. I was actually part of a grad students psych thesis on the topic, where i was tested five times for IQ and scored an average of 135 with a high of 138 and a low of 133. so, yes the whole true IQ concept would say that mine is 135, provided that i continued to score in that range.
  16. In his defense, chester taylor has looked like an all-star running behind him
  17. "I CANT CONTROL THE VOLUME OF MY VOICE."- Will Ferrell on SNL
  18. ok i missed a lot of fun today, but holy crap. First HA is attributing performance on IQ tests and SAT's to luck more than ability. That said he changed the context of my post from IQ to SAT Then he has made an arse out of himself some more by digging himself deeper in the hole, especially by getting into another childish argument w/ Tom/BJ HA scoring a certain score on a test is a measure of ability, especially on the SAT, since you lose points for taking unreasonable guesses. So, Luck has very little to do with the SAT. Now, with an IQ test, you will not score high if you use a lot of uneducated guess. therefore luck has relative no freaking value of impact on a test. Thus, the scoring is based on your ability and will vary very little because your ability is contingent on what you know and are capable of. So, the expected outcome for either of these tests on a retest should be what the test taker scored before. Now if the test taker add more education to their memory banks before retesting, the expected outcome is to jump up slightly. So, suck on those apples
