  1. A long time ago came a man on a track Walking thirty miles with a sack on his back And he put down his load where he thought it was the best He made a home in the wilderness
  2. I stumbled across an impressive piano cover of a song I consider among the best compositions I've ever heard from a contemporary artist. I posted the original too in case you haven't heard it. This is not Jimmy Page but Happy Birthday to Jimmy Page.
  3. Darlin' oh darlin' Won't you come back my way It's been ever so lonely Since you went away My heart is a breakin' I miss your sweet face My arms are an achin' For your sweet embrace
  4. in addition to the video, Zombie by The Cranberries is very sad but has a rock sound.
  5. Twenty-two years we've sung the word Since nineteen thirty-one Amen, I say amen Now the young folk want to praise the Lord With guitar, bass and drums, amen Well I'll never get tired of Jesus But it's been a heavy load Carrying His precious love Down a long dirt road We're a long way from home Just let's pay the man and go Baloney again
  6. An underrated band’s most underrated song:
  7. When I leave this world behind me To another I will go And if there are no pipes in heaven I'll be going down below If friends in time be severed Someday we will meet again I'll return to leave you never Be a piper to the end
  8. Tony Gwynn. When he started I could pretty much only watch him against the Mets and Braves but followed the box scores. As time went on games were easier to watch. If I counted Bills players there would be too many to list.
  9. Your hair is a strawflower that sings in the sun My darling, my beautiful daughter So went the dream of the drowned submariner Cast away on the water
  10. Road signs flow into the headlights Whisper names and fall behind He finds some honor in the darkness Hopes for grace and peace of mind And he thinks of how they'd lay together He'd run his fingers through her hair And he wonders if she'll ever Come to know that he was there
  11. Sad but topical song
  12. Not Yankees but just heard on MLB in a cool segment about Arraez (who I really like) that it was 9 years ago that my all time favorite player, Tony Gwynn, passed away. It seems like yesterday. I wish he were still around to talk about Arraez.
  13. Matching my lyrical response entry (do I get double points?)
  14. Scarred for life no compensation Private Investigations
  15. I’m not sure but my guess would be a variety show of some sort.
  16. When November brings the poppies on Remebrance Day When the vicar comes to say May God bless them every one Lest we forget our sons We will remember them remember them remember them
  17. My point was partly statistical but more so to emphasize the degree to which they helped put their sport on the map. Brown’s presence helped move the NFL to a much greater prominence. Ruth did the very same thing. He did it earlier and not just for baseball but for all of sports. If there were a Mount Rushmore with one person for each major sport, I think Brown and Gretzky are as easy to choose as Ruth. The NBA is the only tricky one. Personally I don’t think I could narrow that down to five choices.
  18. Lean streaky music spawned on the streets I hear it, but with you I had to go 'Cos my rock 'n' roll is putting on weight And the beat, it goes on Arc of a diver, effortlessly My mind in sky, and when I wake up Daytime and nighttime, I feel you near Warm water breathing, she helps me here
  19. He was basically the Babe Ruth of football.
  20. They had a last supper the day of the beaching She's a dead ship sailing skeleton crew The galley is empty, the stove pots are cooling What's left of the stew? The time is approaching, the captain moves over The hangman steps in to do what he's paid for With the wind down the tide, she goes proud ahead, steaming And he drives her hard into the shore So far from the Clyde Together we ride, we did ride
  21. Ownership aside, that intro is all Geordie and always will be.
