Cowherd is a fuggin CHOAD! My guys at work always listen to ESPN radio and I generally am there during his show so I've heard him a lot. All I can remember is how he went on a 2 hour speal last year before the Texas/Ohio State game about how Texas had no shot at winning in Columbus. I mean really, he really would have bet his house on it.
Then when Texas won he hung up on everyone who called in to laugh at him. He really couldn't take being wrong; it was like a 4 year old was on the radio. Not that I don't like Ohio State or anything but this guy is a closest Buckeye fan and it shows in the worst way.
He also did the Same thing to Texas prior to the National Championship and took every chance he could to take a shot at Vince Young. I don't even like Texas (I went to Misssouri), but I couldn't stand to listen to him bash them last year.

I have read through the multitude of posts back and forth and find that as much as you say you are unbiased, in actuality you are simply looking for attention.
To bad your mom of depriving you of the attention any child wants and you have no outlet to use to get the attention you grave.
Sadly, I am only providing you what you truly desire but at least I did get to the root cause.
Let me make a guess of who you are. Ages 14-16, friendless nerd who is on this website because porn is blocked my mommy on your home computer.
Go do something productive such as review various publications regarding teams and unit by unit talent and make a legitimate assessment before you waste mine and other peoples valuable time with meaningless quotes.
I think a more objective look would be to grade each team at it's specific positions:

Agreed, this chart would be great to calculate the overall skill level of the club versus other team's. THe question is upon what criteria one ranks a player. NExt, one has to be unbias with these scores, which will be impossilbe with the xenophobic and home town cooking fans on the site here. But I would say that hte Bills would rank in the bottom 5 team in overall league talent -- assuming one had the criteria which reasonably addressed each position.

The team is improved and although we may get off to an 0-2 start, we have a schedule that still allows for 10 wins.
We can win 4 games in the division at a minimum, have the NFC North and will go 3-1 there with the loss at Chicago. We also play the AFC South and I expect to beat Jacksonville and Tennessee at home and split with the Texans and Colts, going 3-1 their also. The other two out of division games are home with San Diego (loss) and at Baltimore (last game of season, so who knows).
If we split the pair of division games on the road, I'm thinking 11 wins.
Call me crazy but I think we are much better then projected and the Patriots and Dolphins are not going to be as good.

Last night ESPN did their show 'Outside the Lines" about Marv Levy's return to the Bills and discussed his qualifications for the job, the re-tooling of the Bills and also his interest in coaching again.
Just wanted to check to see if anyone saw this last night?

The 1991 Bills had to be in the top 10 of all offenses. That year we had major injuries to the defense in the 1st half of the season, had to outscore the teams we played.

I feel that these statistics compare favorably with other teams mentioned and this team also did go to the Super Bowl unlike others in the CNN SI Link.

Don't know how many old timers we have on the board but the present Sabre team reminds me a lot of the 1974/1975 team that went to the finals against the Flyers.
Honestly when Tim Connoley scored that short-handed goal on Friday night it evoked memories of end to end rushes by Gilbert Perreault.
This team differs only instead of having one all time line such as the "French Connection" and complimentary lines such as the Luce-Ramsey-Gare checking line, this team has four excellent lines and their stickwork, puck-handling and passing is superb.
I was watching the other series this weekend and feel that if we get by Ottawa, the Cup will be ours this year.
Love to hear some old time Sabre fans provide some feedback.

With the 2006 NFL draft almost a week behind us, let us review the moves the Bills have made.
Its obvious that Marv and Dick Jaroun feel that intelligence and high moral character are key elements to winning in the NFL.
I also did some research and found that the team with the highest percentage of college graduates on their roster are the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers.
Winning teams with intelligent players with high moral character is a blueprint for winning.
The GM and HC believe in this philosophy and their draft choice reflect not only players that fit into the football scheme, but also carry the intelllect and character to play hard all the time.
Lastly, the year after Carolina played New England in the Super Bowl they had a string of injuries and still came back and fought hard and just missed the playoffs.
I think this is indicitive of what we will see on future Buffalo Bills teams over the next few years, and as a dedicated fan I can ask for no more then that.
For those who have doubted the moves the new regime have done, please read this post and reflect on the things I have stated.

With the latest rumors of both Matt Leinhart & Jay Cutler dropping in the draft, would you consider a trade proposal where we trade down from 8 to 17, and get Minnesota pick at 48 in the second round and pick in the 5th round at 145.
In this scenario the Bills would have a 1st round pick, 2 2nds, 2 3rd's, a 4th, 3 5th's, a 6th and 2 7th's.
A total of 12 picks.
I would not take this deal because it puts the Bills out of range for the best DT prospects and really adds very little to immediate contributing players.
Since this might be a scenario that unfolds I just wanted to present it and get your feedback.

If the right scenario popped up such as Houston taking Mario Williams, then having Saints take AJ Hawk at 2, the Titans taking Matt Leinhart at 3 and the Jets then bypassing Ferguson to take Reggie Bush at 4, Green Bay then takes the deal with Denver to move down to 15 so the Broncos get get Vernan Davis at 5, The 49ers then getting stuck with Michael Huff at 6 and the Raiders taking Vince Young at 7.
This leaves the Bills with Ferguson available, now in this scenario we go to Detroit and ask for a pick to move from 8 to 9 so they can have access to Ferguson as he is supposedly high on their board. Might be able to get a 4th round pick in that scenario. Assuming we could do this with Detroit and the Lions take DeBrickashaw then the Bills at 9 could move as low as 13 and still get to Winston Justice ahead of Philadelphia.
The Browns could move up to ensure they get Kamerion Wimbley or Haloti Ngata and we could hold the pick and auction it between Cleveland and Baltimore and see who will pay the most for it while getting additional picks.
I am of the opinion if the right players are available the Bills may be able to trade down twice as long as they go no lower the 13.

Why on Earth would the Cards accept that trade? They are in no danger of Detroit taking Cutler with all of their QB whoring this offseason, and I really dont think Detroit will move out of #9 and pass on a chance to get Michael Huff. Trade doesnt make any sense to me.Now if we traded with the Ravens at pick #13 (letting them leapfrog St. Louis and Arizona who both are looking for a QB of the future) then that would make sense to me.

After reading the article it gives me even more reason to pass on Ferguson and try and trade down just a bit and select Justice instead.
I think Ferguson is soft and will not be the impact player that everyone thinks.

The only issue with Justice is character issues because of a three year old solicitation charge and the toy gun incident.
Big f'ing deal.
It is my belief that Ferguson is soft and is not a tough-minded player and is a bad fit for a power running bad weather team.
If the sole reason to rate Ferguson is on "character issues" then we'll have a team of passive pussies who are great in the community while going 4-12 every year.
Give me a playoff team with Super Bowl potential and I could not care less if the players take a dump in the alter of a church.
Let me put this in another way, Dallas when kicking our asses in back-to-back Super Bowls had the bad guys such as Michael Irvin, Nate Newton, etc, etc and they won while we with all the "high character guys" got reamed, 52-17 and 30-13. If I had the choice i'd rather have the trophies then the nice guy image.
Let's get some people in hear with an attitude that wins for once.

TSN is the Canadian sports network. To get TSN on Direct TV you will need to pay $49.00 for the NHL playoff package.
I paid for this and watched the Flyers-Sabres and checked in on the Canadians-Hurricanes on Direct TV channels 764 & 765 last night. Only thing that ticked me off was after the Sabre game was 6-1 they switched over to the Ranger-Devil game and then came back to the Sabre game midway thru the 3rd period.

Ok, wrong forum, I know, but last night I really wanted to watch the Sabres game. Come to find out its on TSN. What the heck is TSN? It is NOT on the cable in my area, and a quick check on Directv didn't indicate any listing either. What is TSN and, more importantly, WHERE the heck is it?And GO SABRES! You are 100% right about drafting Winston Justice. If you compare he and DeBrickashaw Ferguson head-up Justice is bigger in both height and weight. Has a better 40 time, better shuttle time, better three-cone time, better vertical jump, longer wingspan and has boxing training.
Lets see, better athlete with better measureables who has experience playing in a pro-style offense and has blind-side protection experience.
If I can trade down just a bit and get this guy, it will be a steal.
In fact if Ferguson fell to the Bills at 8, I would trade down and accumulate picks and still select Justice over Ferguson.
Don't worry about the negative feedback you have received, I agree with you and the majority of the people on this board would not know a football from a sex toy.
I'm sure I'll get flammed for this comment, but there is an appalling lack of football knowledge by the members of this board and each time they post they continue to show their football ignorance.

I think we can trade down in this draft and that may be with Baltimore so we go from 8 to 13 and pick-up an additional second pick at selection 44 and give to Baltimore our 3rd round pick at 73. This would provide the Bills the following picks and here are my selections:

I feel that this draft covers the majority of our present needs and moves us into a contending position in 2007.
yet another one.1-trade down with the Cards, the cards are eyeing Cutler as their future, but the threat of trading down further makes them bite. we pick up a 4th rounder, to move down 2 spots. With this pick we draft Haloti Ngata, naturally strong and very physical. Might not fit defense perfectly but is just a better player than Bunkley IMHO, however this could be changed out with Bunkley, First 10 picks.

Anthony Smith-poor forty, but smart safety. good hitter and fearless. Cold be a great ST if not a starter at SS

Ryan LaCasse-could push Posey for LOLB duties, Fast, smart and very strong, needs to learn how to cover since he was a DE in college, but Posey isn't good at covering, and Ryan LaCasse is faster, stronger, smarter, and in college was a playmaker. did i mention fast, strong and smart enough?
5th-TRADE-with the giants, I feel after the giants addressed cornerback, and LB they needed to address OT, and in the first they drafted Eric Winston (maybe a little soon) so Petitgout is traded to us for a 5th, he has had injury issues, but he has played well when healthy. Also i don't like the notion of starting two rookies on the leftside. New OL Petitgout-Colledge-Folwer-Villareal-Peters-next year with added cap space we could address the LT in FA, for now this gets us through the season. Also Petitgout played for McNally in Ny, who knows we might also get Carlos Emmons in the trade (who is very close friends to Spikes)-okay maybe that went a little too far.

Tony Scheffler-athletic TE improved status after combines, otherwise he would have gone undrafted.

Joe Toledo-Former TE turned tackle, big and athletic. Could turn out to be a steal or someone for us to watch in Europe.

Damien Rhodes-good speed, can line up in the slot with good hands and route running ability. Also can run up the middle. Could challenge Shaud for 3rd down duties. bigger, stronger, and faster than Shaud Williams, but did not have the college production

Jonathon Orr-WR looks the part, has great speed, but never seemed to get it done in college, the one year Evans missed he had great numbers, however after that he seemed to fall.

Usually I am an advocate of drafting the best player available.
However in this draft for the Bills, we must get in any order the following:
DT - 2
OT - 1
OG - 1
FS - 1
SS - 1
CB - 1
DE - 1
RB - 1
There are 9 areas of need and we have 10 picks. If we were also to take this in relation to areas of need, I would go as follows;
DT - Highest Priority
OG/OT - Equal need at high priority
SS/FS - Equal need at medium priority
CB - Need 4th corner
RB - Need inside presence
DE - Pass rush end would be great

If you read your local sports section, you might find a little blurb about Javon Walker for Ashlie Leslie already planted.
Bank on what I am saying this will go down as it makes perfect sense for both teams.
I cant see the WR swap happening. Denver would need to give up more. The 1, 2, 2, or 1, 2, 3 may be enough to jump form 15 to 5, but the packers want a 1st rounder (it was on espn yesterday, no link tho) for Walker.What the trade actually means is that SF can take vernon davis with pick #6, and doesnt have to worry about a CB/S until pick 22 when they can grab cromartie or yobouty.

I noticed that was some interest in the Denver/San Francisco trade yesterday and I want to address why that trade was made.
By getting San Francisco's 2nd & 3rd round picks this year, Denver now has the proper ammunination to make the two moves they want and feel will get them into the Super Bowl.
As you all know, Denver has been looking for a #1 receiver to eventually replace Rod Smith, in addition Ashly Leslie wants to be traded. Denver gets the 15th pick in a 3 cornered deal with Atlanta and the Jets, the thought is, here's the pick for Chad Jackson. But also note that Denver lost Jeb Putzier and has only Stephen Alexander on its roster at Tight End. Factor in also that to get access to TE Vernon Davis the Broncos reasoned that they must get ahead of both San Francisco and Oakland in the draft.
This is where Green Bay comes into play. The Packers are in a rebuilding mode and have multiple needs, principally at offensive guard and playmaking pressure linebacker. At the 5th pick, the natural selection would be A.J. Hawk, nice fill but not exactly the guy the Packers want with Nick Barnett on their roster. Also, remember the Green Bay also has a disgrunteled receiver in Javon Walker.
Now that I have set the scenario for you, here is the move that makes complete sense and watch for this on draft day:
When the commissioner goes to the podium with the 5th selection in the draft he will make the announcement of the following trade:
Green Bay has traded this choice to the Denver Broncos, Green Bay will receive Denver's choice in the fisrt round, pick # 15, the 2nd round choice that Denver received from San Franciso, Pick # 37 and Denver's other 2nd or the 3rd round pick that got from San Francisco. Also in the trade will be the exchange of wide receivers with Walker going to Denver and Leslie going to Green Bay.
Denver with the pick selects TE Vernon Davis, Green Bay with the pick from Denver selects one of three pass rush pressure linebackers, Kamerion Mimberly, Ernie Sims or Manny Lawson. The Packers with back-to-back picks early in the 2nd round select OG's Luiti and Davin Joseph.
In one complex move the Bronco's add the tight end and wide receiver they want in Davis anbd Walker, the Packers get a pass rush linebacker and two offensive guards that rebuild their interrior of the offensive line, remembering they have three good tackles.

Interesting thought, but one thing you forget to address is why should the Bills trade up to get a player in Ferguson who will not be as good professionally as Winston Justice who will be their at 8.
In your scenario your wasting picks to get a good who will not be as good as a player we can have by just staying where we are.
If you comparable the measureables between Ferguson and Justice, and at the professional level its really all about the measureables, you find Justice superrior in every way to Ferguson.
In addition Justice comes from a passing conference and is more ready for the rigors of the professional passing game and Ferguson came from more of a college based offense at Virginia.
To me there is not even a thought about wasting resources to move up in this draft.
In fact if by some reason Ferguson slips to the Bills pick at 8, I'd select Justice anyways.

Thanks for the feedback but the Bills need two defensive tackles, one a one gap and the other a three gap type. Also need two guards, one to start and one for depth.
No need for any wide receivers as we already have two rosters full.
Other then that I see no problems.

This draft while not sexy does provide the Bills with critical need players with talent and upside.
If it were possible I would try and trade next year's # 1 to Denver for the 22nd pick in the draft and with this pick use it to select USC guard Tatusi Lutui, then the Bills could allocate the pick used to select Charles Spencer in the 3rd round and replace that pick with DE Victor Adeyanju.
I would feel that by giving next year's #1 although it may be a top 10 pick, would allow the Bills to develop players now and then use the money saved to fill in any gaps in free agency.
The roster would look something like this:
QB - Loseman, Holcomb, Nall
RB - McGahee, Gates, Williams
FB - Shelton, Burns
WR - Evans, Reed, Davis, Price, Parrish, Aiken

This is a decent roster and is filled with youth and speed. Moves to make in 2007 would be to enhance the WR and RB positions, add an additional CB is Clements does go away and add depth.
I feel that this is maybe a 7 win team this year and will be a playoff contender in 2007.

I believe the choice for the Bills in the 1st round is between offensive tackle and defensive tackle.
Both are critical need positions and I see us using our top choice in either of these two areas.
I would take a top drawer offensive tackle prospect such as Winston Justice over a DT primarily because DT's can be selected in the 2nd and 3rd round and this is a chance to get a stud Olineman that can play for 10 years.
Interested in your thoughts as to which way you would draft with the 1st pick only.

Problem with this deal is that moves us out of position to get Winston Justice and that really leaves no immediate player available to the Bills.
The only deal out their for us id if we can manuver with Detroit to give us a 3rd round pick to swap from 8 to 9 and then only if we can generate rumor or legitimate interest with a deal with Arizona if Jay Cutler is available with the 8th pick.
In this scenario, we would work Detroit and Arizona and take whatever we could from the Lions to move down one spot in the draft.
Best case their is a 4th or 5th round pick.
In this way we could still draft Justice and have the 2nd and 3rd rounds to draft OG, and two defensive tackles.

Let me first say that I am not a poster who generates topics each and every time a "name" player is available.
However, we should bring in ex-Packer's running back Najah Davenport. He is a big guy with some speed and could fill the hole we have at fullback behind Shelton.
Just wanted to guage the interest in the fan base so please let me know what you think.
