They said the same about Wentz and Goff.

We have settled for over 17 years at the most important position in football.  If OBD wants Rosen or even Mayfield GO GET HIM.  Why Settle on second round prospects when your entire two years has been about this moment.

Neither the Rams nor the Eagles were giving up three first round picks as it seems you're asking of the Bills. This is the difference, at some point you must step away from the bar and say I'm good. Good luck trying to rebuild a team to compete with the Eagles the next 10 years.

If the Giants like Webb a whole lot, they will take the trade value chart deal in a second.

Wont make it happen.  He is going to have to kick in a premium.  the 50% premium is going to be 3900 points total.  So look for 2019 picks to make up the premium that will have to be paid.

As I said before, if the Giants are not willing to accept that offer then both teams simply move on. You can't get dizzy drunk on one QB being the end all be all of a franchise. If this were an Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning, then yes, by all means go crazy. But these QBs aren't on that prospect level. You just need to have the next plan in place and that'd be selecting a QB at a later pick...Jackson, Rudolph, Lauletta, etc... Then building your roster with the extra picks you still have.

Yup.  If they do trade, I suspect they'll want an arm and a leg in return.

The only offer Beane will do will probably be in line with the trade value chart...

    #2 pick = 2600

    #12, #22, #53, #65 picks = 2615

If the Giants ask for anything more they will probably not trade up and will go with either Jackson or Rudolf at #12. Beane's not going to get rolled over and leave a rookie QB without a chance to add talented players on rookie deals. Once those parameters are set, then it's up to the Giants to take it or leave it.

I hear what you are saying, but the board here panicked twice based on losing who they wanted.  Jackson is not any type of fit for the Offense the Bills will employ.

Your opinion was that it was a panic move, mine was that it was a totally logical choice. Just like it should have been logical to take either Mahomes or Watson last year.

As for the offense, I think the offense will be perfect for Jackson because the new OC is coming straight from college and if he's selected, it would be a hybrid offense like Jackson played in Louisville.

If the draft fell like this it would be absolutely disastrous for the Bills.  They reached TWICE for lesser prospects.

12 Should have been NOT a QB (EDGE - Davenport and took Rudolph later)

22 with a reach at QB (Jackson) they then took a Star Clone, good against the run no pass rush and left the interior Pass Rush DT in Hurst on the board for NE.

I have a feeling that fans and media have a much lower opinion of Jackson than NFL teams do. I think he goes no later than 15. Also, I have a hard time seeing Rudolph as any better of a QB prospect than either McCarron or Peterman. I'm looking for a high ceiling QB prospect.

We'll eventually find out how it all goes down.

I previous thought the only thing that would make me unhappy was a trade up for Allen. I now know that I was wrong. This draft would infuriate me

The beauty of this draft is that you'd have a well-rounded QB group with the veteran in McCarron, the potential star in waiting in Jackson, and the developmental QB in Peterson. Then you just added a huge body in the middle of the defense, AND you still have two 2nds and two 3rds, AND all of next years high picks.

How many Superbowls or playoff games did, Randall Cunningham, RGIII, Michael Vick, or Tyrod Taylor win or even play in? How many Superbowls have Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, win and play in. Some things NEVER change.

The college game isn't producing them in their top programs. In 3-5 years, half the league will be running college offenses. The QB position will become an athletic point guard and they'll have shorter careers than the traditional 10-15 years. That's how I view it.

The only thing he is going to tear up is his knees just like RGIII. He will get lit up like a Christmas tree when he takes off from the pocket because he cannot find an open receiver.

    Fake news.

A lot of fans seem behind the curve that the NFL is quickly becoming vastly different from the Peyton Manning (and earlier) drop back QB days. At least this board made the right choice so a third here know where this thing's heading.

Cam Newton and Deshaun Watson won national titles and big games. LOL Jackson puts up stats against Duke and Wake Forest. LOL What a joke.

Are you kidding me? Judging college QB prospects by championships? Now THAT'S a funny one! Let's see, how many college championships did Brady, Rogers, Brees, Wilson, Wentz, Rothlesberger, etc, etc, etc ...win?

I just don't get the hate for Jackson. Dude's going to tear the "new rules" NFL up, just like Watson did. he'll be known as LJ, and many teams that took another QB ahead of him will end up regretting it deeply.

With Beane and Coach McDermott always talking about how they want a pocket passer and it's a pocket passer league etc, I just can't see them taking Jackson.

I voted Ridley cuz we need WRs real bad.

Yet, they came from Carolina who've had great success with Cam Newton who is not a pocket passer. Those two talking up "pocket passer" might be an attempt at a head fake to teams to make them think they don't want Jackson. Remember, teams came from way back to draft both Mahomes and Watson.

Plenty of players never had an injury history - until they came into the NFL.

Which makes the prospects of having a long career even much worse for a non-elusive, concussion-prone guy like Rosen.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Jackson get picked before Rosen. I can see NFL team medical experts in the top 10 picks giving Rosen a thumbs down to their GMs.

If we get to make wild-ass predictions and state them as fact, then I am 100% sure Jackson will be out of the league within 3 years due to multiple lower body injuries, and first QB out of the league from this class.

Jackson has no history of being injured that I'm aware of, while the concussion question is Rosen's biggest problem. Especially with the new concussion rules.

Totally different players, yes.  Same scenario where a previous rush on QB's makes us take a guy earlier than needed though

It's a totally different scenario because Jackson is a much better QB than Allen, he'll have a much longer career than the concussion prone Rosen, and he'll outproduce Darnold by a huge margin. IMO, the only QB taken before Jackson who'll probably have the better career would be Mayfield.

I just read an article from a Cardinals site that said someone in the know thinks a team is going to try to trade up for Jackson (assuming it meant ahead of the Bills and Cardinals, maybe even Dolphins). Kind of what happened with Mahomes and Watson last year.

See... this is kinda what I was figuring the impact would be with the lack of an agent.  Agents are there to get you the rounds on NFL Network and pump you up publicly.  But NFL teams don't care about that.  That's why I'm wondering if NFL teams have actually loved this move by Jackson because it's making it easier for them to let him slide a few spots.

It'll be interesting if Jackson goes before Darnold, Rosen, Allen or Mayfield.

It's actually shocking to me that Josh Allen is widely considered a better prospect than Lamar Jackson. Allen isn't even close to the NFL QB prospect that Jackson is IMO.

I just don't believe the Bills are high on Allen, and in turn, not high on Jackson. I'm thinking the Bills wanting Allen stuff is all a smokescreen to try to get the Browns, Giants or Jets to draft him.

I'm not just questioning his football IQ I am questioning his overall IQ not having proper representation. His mother is killing his draft stock he needed to run the 40 and show people what they supposedly already know, he is fast but how fast. His wonderlic score isn't doing him any favors and this fiasco could make him a late first possibly second round QB.

I think his Mom is the perfect representation for Jackson. Being that close to his Mom shows teams that he's a decent and grounded individual. He does have a lawyer to work through the rookie contract details.

BTW, since it's now known the Browns are looking at him, there is no doubt Jackson's going top 15. Because the Browns would obviously take him if they were to trade back with the Bills or someone else in the top 15 range. If he slid, the Bills, Cardinals or Chargers would take him unless a team like the Steelers jumped up ahead of them all.

Darnold at 44 behind Lamar Jackson at 41. Hmmmm.....

"Good News, Bad News" for Browns...

Good News...you've got the #1 overall pick

Bad News...try picking the QB who won't be a bust

Not the worst thing having the Bills picking further on down, considering the boom/bust factor is huge in a lot of these QB prospects. There will be a LOT of pressure on who the Browns end up picking.

How many times do McD and Beane have to emphasize they want a pocket passer.

    They're not drafting Jackson.

If they're a couple of great poker players, then those emphatic claims are probably a bunch of baloney.

Those claims would concern me greatly if I were a huge Rosen guy. For Jackson guys like me, I'm feeling much less concerned that they don't want Jackson.

This is a good post and I've felt this way at times too. Eventually there is going to be an exceptionally athletic QB that has the pocket presence of a Tom Brady/Peyton Manning and that QB will transform the league.  It is going to happen. If Lamar Jackson turns out to be that player, which looks entirely possible, a franchise could set themselves up for years especially if said franchise has an additional 6 picks in the first 3 rounds.

I do believe the Buffalo Bills will attempt to trade up to draft a traditional QB. But if for reasons Beane can not control it doesn't happen and Jackson is available at 12, IMO he will draft him. And it could turn out to be the best thing that has happened to the Bills in 25 years.

How do they know?  They don't know and that's why it's a terrible trade.

I think what DeShaun Watson did last season opened up a lot of eyes around the NFL. Now here we have a faster more elusive close clone of Watson in Lamar Jackson and all 32 teams were at his pro day.

When you think about the fact that teams have much less time to practice as opposed to years ago, it makes total sense to have a much more simplified "college" type of offense with a dual threat QB running it in the way that the Texans did with Watson.

Then you look at Jackson's very competitive demeanor and drive to be great...HMMMM...hard not to really start liking what he could do for the Bills franchise the next 10 years or more.
