John Clayton on ESPNEWS in a few mins..
1billsfan replied to wwovince's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
...at which point TD laughs and says, "Ok Denny, good luck with your cornerbacks." They can keep Shelton if they pull that you-know-what, he's just not the same caliber of player that Travis is. -
Heard this on John Clayton Interview

Isn't Gruden on record as stating he didn't like Travis Henry? -
If the Redskins were offering their 1st and 2nd rounders this year then I'd let Clements go and have Vincent move back to corner. If not, I'd keep Clements and franchise him next season if he doesn't sign an extension. I know he'd be about a 10 million dollar cap hit, but cornerback is perhaps the most important defensive position in todays NFL. We'd be overpaying him by about 4 million dollars, however at least he'd be a player who'd pay dividends with his play.

Your brushing this off as some kind of annoying prank is a form of defending his actions as being that of a minor offense. If you can not comprehend that one then I'm sorry. Buh-bye.

Lenny P. has some T. Henry stuff in Tip Sheet
1billsfan replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a given that Shelton is off their team and off their books because they are trying to dump his salary and Green doesn't want him anyways. Also, TD would never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever trade Travis Henry for only a swap of seconds. That aint happenin. -
Your words..."But prison? You have to be kidding" Sorry, but thinking this guy doesn't deserves a prison term sounds awfully like you're defending him.
-
He will end up serving 5 years which is less than he deserves. Make light of the it all you want, this is a major headache and hinderence to the US economy. 10 million spams a day. 36.5 billion spams a year. ...and you're defending this joker???? You have to be kidding.
-
When you collectively force a billion Americans to stop what they are doing to deal with these unsolicited messages, you are messing with the US's productivity big time. Read again how many spam messages this guy sent and try to think how many man hours deleting these messages takes. We're in a global economy and the US needs all the help it can get to compete with China and all the rest.

Teachers being forced not to use red pens...Cookie Monster being forced to no longer eat cookies...Stern being forced out of free radio. We've offically become Iran. What are our troops fighting for again?

That's so awesome!

If that's the case he can leave now.

Since when are the 90's retro? This bar's name, theme and clientele are dumb. -

There's no way we are giving away Henry to move only 14 spots in the draft. Ralph would can TD for that one.

I read it again and I still think the Bengals/ Patriots trade sucked for the Bengals. -
Scouts Inc. Todd McShay says Henry for Shelton
1billsfan replied to brihs2005's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How so???? Henry is a proven NFL rusher and Shelton is a proven bust. It's amazing how with just a few bad outings in 2005 misguided fans here have downgraded this player to the point where this deal is considered pulling a fast one on Arizona. Go back and watch the tapes of 2002 and 2003 and tell me Shelton has that same ability, heart and determination as that of Travis Henry. Just what's your beef with Henry anyways? He was our only weapon for those two years. How soon you forget. -
Wow, some good ol' fashion reasonable posting. Thank you.

Probowl runningback vs "one of the better young defensive backs around"? Hmmmmmmm...I think I take the probowl runningback that helped lead his team to a Superbowl victory. Nice try, though not quite good enough. -

Madieu Williams. Who's Madieu Williams? He's the free safety the Bengals got in return for trading Cory Dillon to New England. You wait and trade for value, not in a state of desperation. Shelton is a bum who could not even be a starter on the lowly Arizona Cardinals. Travis Henry is a powerful runningback that has proven his toughness in the NFL. If there are no takers then so be it, do not trade Henry for that bum of a player straight up. It's a bad deal, and the Bills are not about doing bad deals my friend. -

Henry is NOT getting released. He's the best backup runningback in the NFL right now. I think most here would agree this is a benefit. Just because teams are not clamoring for him right now doesn't mean we HAVE to get what ever we can for him. Runningbacks get hurt in this league. That's an undisputable fact. Do you think the Bills won't have some bargaining power when this happens the first couple of weeks into the season? Eventually, they'll get either a 2nd rounder or Shelton and a swap with Arizona for Henry. There is NO benifit for the Bills just GIVING Henry away for Shelton. Unless you are a foolish GM, which TD is not. -

Underacheiver? The guy was a 2nd round pick that few here had ever even heard of when the Bills selected him! He then proceeds to gain over 1,300 yards rushing behind an abysmal offensive line in 2002 and 2003. I really doubt you understand the term. Also, your point that Travis Henry is not as good as Willis McGahee is redundant. We know that. He's nowhere near the back that Willis is. Willis is a star runningback who would fetch a high 1st round pick if he were shopped around. I don't get why you are trying to compare the two runningbacks here, this is not being disputed. We shall see Travis' worth after the draft, and I can't wait to dig this one up for a good ol' fashion "I told you so" post. -
This has been a disaster offseason for the Pats and the news just keeps getting better and better... All of a sudden, the term "taking one for the team" takes on a whole new meaning in Brady's case. Not even the ultimate team player is willing to do that. And reportedly that's why the new contract, which was considered "imminent" just a month ago, is now very much in question. -- Boston Herald http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/scor....nfl/index.html

Which is why TD will not make like Marvin Lewis and just give away a player, like Travis Henry, the way that Cory Dillon was given to the Patriots for a 2nd. Henry may not be as good as Dillon, but Dillon was widely considered a "shot" player and Lewis blinked. Keep Henry until there's a fair trade. If not, he'll be our #2 back. -

It's no use. These were the same people that were probably ready to let Peerless Price go instead of tagging him. We'll be right on draft day. -

Dude, he's a "proven" 1,000 yard NFL runningback. If he were able to do all of the things you mentioned he would fetch a 1st round pick in a nanosecond. Shelton is a bust, period. ...and running for over 1,300 yards for two consecutive years is suddenly being equated as a runningback showing poor "skills"???? Like I said, you're flat out wrong.
