  1. If they select either Watson or Mahomes, what would that be considered, a 10-15 pick reach by most experts? By almost all accounts both are now considered 1st round picks and none will last past the Texans at #25. Considering that NFL QB is by far the most important position in all of sports, I think the 10-15 pick "reach" assessment no longer has any base in reality. It starts to come down to if they think that the guy has a realistic chance (probably 50% chance or above) in a year or two to become a franchise QB. That's what I think the bar is set at.
  2. I think another way to look at this is that you want the guy in your locker room now. If you wait till 2018 to pick a QB (in the likely event that Taylor fails), then you're actually looking at year three of the McDermott regime when he has the QB he selected, and that guy has a year of experience under his belt, and he and the team are finally ready to make a push for the playoffs in 2019. That's much too long in today's here today gone tomorrow NFL game. The roster will change 50% or more by then. If I were a head coach, I think I would much rather get the franchise QB now, in year one, and let him get acclimated to the NFL so that the whole team is ready to make a long, sustained push at playoffs in year two and beyond.
  3. I think Pegula flying all over the country attending the top QB prospects workouts suggests that they might have a higher grade on them than fans might think. Them tweeting out a pick of the Trubisky workout makes me think it's not Trubisky they would be favoring. They have really done a great job of looking at all the QBs and still the consensus around the league is that they aren't picking one at #10. I think QB at #10 is a real possibility.
  4. I think that Davis would be a redundancy at WR with already having Sammy. If they did go WR, I'm sure it would be for a tall endzone threat like Williams or Howard if they went TE. Plus Davis has been injured all this off season. The Watson, Lawson, Ragland situations leads me to believe that the Bills will not be picking an injured player in the first round.
  5. IMO… 1. I highly doubt that Belichick is impressed that he’s the nephew of Jim Kelly. 2. Belichick looks for smart, intelligent players. 3. Kelly’s teams lost four superbowls and as silly as it sounds, I don’t think Belichick would want any relation to that on his multiple superbowl winning record. 4. He probably hopes the Bills take Kelly.
  6. Boomer and Carton (WFAN) had Watson on this morning and he is really really impressive. Very grounded, very likable. I'm glad I'm not the Bills decision-makers because it would be extremely tough to pass on a QB prospect like that if you feel like he has the talent to eventually become a franchise QB. They're having Mahomes on shortly, but he strikes me as having a "younger" personality than does Watson, who seems very mature for his age.
  7. I tried to get there with Watson and Mahomes, but Watson's arm strength (Buffalo not a good place for that) and Mahomes' crazy style/public mentions of having a great rapport with the Texans/hyper marketing machine kind of started me to sour on them a little bit. Especially after watching the interviews of the team. You may feel like the player interviews are a bit phony, but I didn't. I started to feel like the Bills franchise has actually started to have a real direction, a real vision. That was just my feeling, it felt real. If you haven't watched them, I suggest you check it out.
  8. I don't care about finding out more about Taylor either, but I'm just no longer feeling this year's top 3 QB draft class prospects are worthy or warrant upsetting the veteran apple cart at this particular time. I've been watching player interviews on BB.com and I really think that the coaching change and the system changes might be enough for this team. They all seem revved up and ready to go. They all seemed sincerely like a pretty positive bunch of guys. I think that started changing my tune on drafting Mahomes or Watson. This team is going through a big change and drafting a questionable franchise QB may not be the best move. Maybe letting this season play out with an eye on the 2018 college QBs is the better way to go. If Taylor or Jones can't get it done, 100% of the Bills nation will be on board for going all in on a QB in the 2018 draft. If they draft Mahomes or Watson then I think that signals they found their QB and that will be exciting....because they don't have to, they must think he's going to be a great one.
  9. I think that this is the year that they build towards the team he wants, see what they have in Taylor and Jones, and 2018 is the 1st round franchise QB year if those two don't look like they will ever become the Bills franchise QB. McDermott doesn't strike me as a dumb man. He saw what the "defensive" HC Ron Rivera did in picking Newton and how that changed the Panthers franchise's fortunes. If they go QB in the first round I'll be fine, because I'll feel like they REALLY must believe in the guy becoming the Bills franchise QB. Because they aren't even being forced into drafting one this year. 2018 is a different story because at least the decision on Taylor as a viable long term QB will be played out good or bad.
  10. Kelly was just one of four options, it could be another QB picked in this draft. The point is that this roster is still in decent shape for a franchise QB to have success if they ever hit on one this year or in 2018. I certainly don't consider Gilmore, Woods and Gillespie as irreplaceable talent. Every NFL team loses players like that due to cap situations.
  11. How does Luck look with a depleted roster? How would a rookie QB look on the Browns or Jets right now? Heck, how would Luck look if he were on one of those two teams? You have to keep building the roster so that when you find a QB (like a Dak Prescott), he and your team are in a great position to contend for the future. If the Bills have a great draft, they still have Taylor, Jones, maybe Kelly, and the 2018 draft class as the possibilities to finally figure out who the future franchise QB will eventually be.
  12. Explosive defensive player who nailed the senior bowl and combine. No way he doesn't get picked in the top 15 of the draft. Impact players always get picked higher than you think, because they are playmakers.
  13. I'm not as big on drafting a QB at #10 as I was because I'm starting to feel like it would be something that would be forced, and if/when they do need to go QB in the first (maybe 2018?) I want it to be a slam dunk, everybody's on board type of situation. Let Tyrod start and if he's not getting it done during the season, put in Jones. If neither is the guy then go all in on QB in the 2018 draft. With our 2017 schedule we'll probably be in the top 10 again.
  14. I'd be very happy with this draft.
  15. They would pretty much have a match up advantage in almost every single game. I'm starting to hope for Howard and Godwin as their first two picks. If Taylor can't get it done with that talented group by mid season bench him and put in "12 gauge".
  16. It just seems much more logical than Williams. There are plenty of ready-made replacements for Woods at #44. Then go defense with the remaining picks.
  17. The closer this draft comes the more I'm starting to feel the Bills maybe would be reaching for a QB at #10. While all three of the top QB prospects have very many positives, they each have their negatives and I'm beginning to think it might be too big of a gamble if there's an OJ Howard there or another great prospect there that you're passing over. I wouldn't be thinking this were it not for next year's QB draft class which by almost all accounts looks much better than this years. I'm starting to worry that we'd be drafting a "Losman" and then not drafting "Rodgers" the following year. I think the Jets won't be drafting a QB because of the 2018 QB class and they have a high probability of having the #1 overall pick in 2018. I also think the Bills will be picking in the top 10 next year with their schedule and I'm coming back to being willing to just let it play out and wait see what Taylor and/or Jones (maybe even Kelly drafted later in this draft?) does with Howard and a top WR prospect in the 2nd round of this draft. They have that 2018 QB class waiting for them if these guys don't pan out. I guess I'm starting to feel like they'd be forcing the QB position instead of it being the natural, feel good pick for everyone to be onboard. I'm becoming comfortable with letting the Browns have Trubisky, Texans have Mahomes and Chiefs have Watson.
  18. How about Howard (TE) at #10 and Godwin (WR) at #44? The Bills would actually start looking scary on offense even with Taylor at QB. If Jones had to step in he would have a very good chance to succeed too. To me, Williams is a throw away pick with how deep the WR position is in this draft.
  19. Taylor is a serviceable starting NFL QB in the same vein as Fitzpatrick. If you want to actually make the playoffs and aspire to becoming relevant again in the NFL then he will need to be replaced. So logically speaking, he needs to be replaced irregardless of the defense. BTW, Taylor gets to have McCoy, Watson and Clay. It’s not like he’s starving for playmakers to help him out.
  20. If they don't pick a QB in the first round, I hope Cardale Jones beats out Taylor and solidifies himself as the Bills long term franchise QB. Chances may be slim, but it's what I'd like to see.
  21. I think that these predictions are indicative as to why the QB position is definitely on the table for the first round selection. Because there is no way Taylor is starting for this team in 2018 if they finish 6-10 or worse. So do they wait a year to pick their franchise QB of the future or do they want to have him here for a full year of development? I predict that they'll trade back in the first for a 3rd or 4th round pick this year, plus a 1st or 2nd round pick in 2018. Then draft Watson in the early 20s and if he's gone they'll have an extra high pick for the 2018 draft to trade up for a QB if they need to.
  22. I really don't care if Mahomes has a huge ego or thinks he's the best QB prospect ever, or if he wants to go to the Cardinals or Texans rather than the Bills (I didn't read this, but I just think that's probably the case). If the Bills think he's going to become a great QB in this league you take him, period. Kelly was crushed at the thought of coming to the Bills, that turned out ok.
  23. All this talk of Shady and Chad and fights kind of underscores who I think we will pick at #10. I think it will be a leader type of guy without any off field concerns. Adams, Watson, Mahomes, Howard…to name a few possibilities. I think the new coach is serious about changing the culture and it starts with the first pick in this draft.
  24. Starting NFL QB is the most important position in all of sports. It’s also the hardest one to find. Rare is the Andrew Luck “you know for sure” perfect scenario. So taking a QB in the first round is a leap of faith that you must eventually take or you will never be anything more than a blip on the NFL radar. You will forever be NFL wallpaper. The importance of the position is to monumental too ignore year after year. The article is a broad brush one which is empty and meaningless to a team without a QB like the Bills. There are only so many people on the planet that have the incredible arm and the drive to compete that Mahomes has, or who did what Watson did to the Bama defense two years in a row. These guys aren’t the chumps the media has made them out to be. Either one meets the requirements of becoming possible franchise QBs on those conditions alone, and thus worthy of the #10 pick overall to the Bills IMO.
