I'm Surprised by Zay Jones' Slow Start
1billsfan replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have nothing to back it up but the preseason games, but I think that Jones would look much better if Peterman were the QB. Taylor refuses to throw unless you are wide open. Jones looks like the type of WR who thrives on catching the "very small window" ball that Peterman throws but Taylor doesn't. Yeah, I'm talking about "preseason" football...but it's still my opinion on the matter. -
Again, how can a switch to Peterman be any worse?
1billsfan replied to SaviorPeterman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sure Peterman will get 2-4 starts at the end of the season, as soon as they're eliminated. Even if he looks good, they will take a QB in the first round IMO. Passing on Watson looks like a pretty bad decision right now, so they probably won't be banking on a few good starts by Peterman if he did show some promise in those games. -

I know it's not a popular opinion, but I think the best long term interest for the Bills is to keep starting Taylor... 1. Peterman is simply not set up for success because of the injury situation. You just don't do that to a rookie QB. 2. Taylor starting is the surest way to get the highest pick possible in the 2018 draft. 3. Peterman can start when they get Clay and Matthews back, and Zay Jones has settled in and has become a real threat at WR. 4. Anyone still holding onto Taylor being a viable long term option is lost. -
Not including backups playing for starters, how many current starting QBs in the league would you not replace Taylor with? I count four.

As bad as this loss feels, image how worse it will feel if Deshaun Watson lights up KC tonight. McDermott may be forced to start Taylor the rest of the year to make sure they'll have a top five pick to right the wrong of not picking Watson (if he is the real deal as it appears so far).

They were #1 in rushing TDs the last two years in a league built on passing the football. The Bills are finally moving in the direction of building a modern football team. With 2 picks in each of the first three rounds of the 2018 draft, the Bills are clearly going to make a move and pick their franchise QB in the 2018 draft. The Rams are better than the Bills because Goff has proved he's legit. Taylor has proven himself to be nothing but a journeyman QB.

Taylor loathing - A dissenting opinion
1billsfan replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There’s no loathing, just acceptance that Taylor’s not the long term answer to not only the Bills, but to any NFL team’s starting QB position. Taylor has entered into the “Fitzpatrick” zone. When you’re seen as a competent starting QB, but one who probably won’t ever be viewed as serious “franchise QB” option for any team. I think we all know it’s a matter of time before Peterman is starting because the team will eventually see starting Taylor as just spinning their wheels because they will know, due to his average QB play, that he’s not in their future plans to be the QB to take them to the playoffs and beyond. -
The 76ers have taken about four years to do what the Bills are attempting to do in one year. One year is practically nothing. With smart phones, 24/7 non-stop news and entertainment, people's brains have been programed for instant gratification. I can see booing them if they looked disinterested in playing in a game, but not just because they aren't nearly as good as the other team. That's what year two and three of a rebuild is supposed to be about. Boo 'em then if there's no progress. BTW, I'm having a blast watching all the college QBs this season. One of them will no doubt be a 1st round pick for the Bills!

You don’t have to be so simple and reactionary. Have some depth in understanding the situation. That turning around a franchise that’s been adrift for 18 years doesn’t happen overnight. I’m fine, I’ve known this was going to be a brutal season given the schedule and that Tyrod was going to be the starting QB. What I look forward to is watching the development of the team and the roster. I’m psyched because I’m almost 100% sure that this team will have their franchise QB in place 7 months from now come draft time. I’m pumped to watch Peterman play because there’s always that small chance that he could be a franchise QB. Unless they clearly aren’t playing hard, booing this team is ridiculous.

I think anyone booing this team would look kind of clueless to me. This team is way more like the rebuilding Jets, than it is a team like the Broncos going for the playoffs and a championship. Rookie head coach, purging players, sticking with a journeyman QB with clearly having their eyes on the 2018 QB class. That's this years Bills team. What exactly would they be booing? That a playoff/championship calibre team has not been built yet? lol Crazy, but I can totally see the it happen.

They are not tied to him, they did not really sing his praises much leading up to the season, they will have given him a respectable sample size to impress them. In two more weeks, we can all be excited again to see what Peterman has to offer, and then there's the looming big 2018 QB draft class. At least they have good coaching and a defense again, final step is the QB and they have the 2018 draft picks to go get a good one.
-
I think Taylor will start two more games before they make the switch to Peterson. Broncos - just too soon to bench Taylor Falcons - they are not going to put a rookie QB in that situation Bengals - probable 1-3 record, team closes the book on Taylor and moves a new direction

The Colts looked awful today
1billsfan replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sure it would be more than that, like also next year's first and third. I doubt the Bills would actually do something like that, because they will probably be in position to draft a really good QB in the first who doesn't come with injury concerns and that large contract. -

With the great 2018 QB class coming, I can totally see the Colts trading Luck in the off season if they're in a prime position in the draft. You get a young healthy franchise QB, get rid of Luck's salary, and you can do a quick rebuild to surround that young QB with the picks they would get. -
Gameday coming up and NE loss. What now...
1billsfan replied to section122hero's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My overall perception has changed, in that it shows that last night's game reminds you that the NFL is unpredictable just as much as it's predictable. Makes me wonder if the Bills actually do have a chance this year. The majority's perception could be wrong. That's part of the fun of the beginning of the NFL season. -
I started this thread after Mahomes week 2 preseason game, before Peterman's solid performances in the preseason. Peterman has looked pretty good, so much so that I'm not feeling nearly as uncomfortable with the trade as I did when I first posted the thread. Here's a question to Bills fans, if you had a chance at a redo, and take Mahomes and not have an extra #1 pick in 2018, and not have Peterman, would you do a do over? I honestly don't know right now. Mahomes really looks like a Favre-type who will throw a lot of picks along with electrifying TDs. Peterman is the classic drop back passer, the style of QB who has won superbowls 90% of the time.

I think that the word "tanking" has become one of those popular media buzz words that's meant to be a very derogatory label. It's meant to stir up emotions and poke at people to get them upset. Everyone knows that there's an ebb and flow to NFL football teams. The Bills made a push with Rex and Taylor and signing vets and making bold moves. That came crashing down and the team is being remolded. Most analysts predict a very good QB class next year, and the Bills probably came to the conclusion that their best chance to find their franchise QB is to acquire high picks at the risk of them being even worse than last year. That's the plan. I don't see that as "tanking", I see that as them planning on becoming a consistent winner and playoff team going with this plan. Because you are no where without a top QB. I don't see the players not playing hard or not trying to win. They don't care about the draft, they care about how they perform and they are competitors who want to win. I'm sure they aren't writing off the season.

The Bills are looking towards the 2018 QB draft class with the trade down with KC, and the trading of Watkins for a second round pick. Mid thirties Alex Smith makes no sense and does nothing for a team which no doubt will be one of the youngest teams in the league next year, and who will also probably have selected a high first round QB pick. The "this journeyman QB will be good enough for the Bills to finally make the playoffs" method is thankfully a thing of the past.

The Q.B. controversy is on
1billsfan replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it's easy as fans to want to fast track the change to Peterman. But I feel that both HC and GM want to (and need to) be respectful to the QBs and the team. Taylor deserves so start the season because he's been one of the team leaders for two years now. He deserves the chance to succeed or fail in real games, with all of the starting offense present, and just let the natural course of things happen. Pulling Taylor now would create an atmosphere of discontent that a team in such a major transition does not need. Chances are looking pretty good that Peterman will start much sooner than expected. Fans just need to wait till it happens when it's supposed to happen. After real games have been played and it's not working with Taylor. -
How many touchdowns will TT throw this season?
1billsfan replied to mead107's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would predict something like this. I don't think Taylor will be pulling out any of the tough early games, and that bye with the home game on their return looks to be the spot that they would seriously consider turning the page on Taylor, who was a big piece of the Rex/Whaley era of the Bills. -
Dak Prescott looked good in preseason, so did Russell Wilson. It carried through for them. These younger players are just not as overwhelmed as they once were by the NFL, especially the ones who have that gamer mentality, which I get the feeling Mahomes has. Hopefully Peterman (or our 2018 QB pick) has that as well.
-
I didn't say that... ...and pre-season is all we have to go by right now. Not sure why some of you seem so upset by the observation that Mahomes is looking good, comfortable and relaxed. If you think that's crazy talk and there's a good chance he'll wilt under the pressure of real games, I don't know what else to tell you other than I highly doubt it. Dude looks like a gamer to me. He went from a definite year to two years to develop QB, to questions being asked of the head coach of how safe Smith's job is. He's going to take over the job at some point. They aren't waiting a year to play him, no matter how much Reid denies it.

Sure, got it.

Giddy? I gave a totally fair assessment of that video (did you even watch it?). Saying he looks good, poised and ready is not "giddy". You seem oddly defensive.
