I honestly feel that the best way to defeat the Patriots would be to do something that they totally would not expect. That is to have Taylor play QB from the pocket, throw the ball deep and for the offense to run plays at a fast pace. Belichick will have a spy on Taylor taking someone out of the Pats coverage and their defense will 100% be keying on stopping McCoy. I know it goes against everything you think you would need to do to defeat them, but I feel that the only chance is Taylor proving himself capable of being a pocket QB and having the Bills be up by double digits at halftime. Once the Pats defense gets tired and start having to respect the passing game, then Shady would come more into the game plan in the second half. I'd challenge Taylor to stay in the pocket and deliver the football in the first half.

2018 Trade partners moving up the board
1billsfan replied to Tatonka68's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not sure why the Bills would want to spend 25 million a year on Cousins considering they have Peterman, who I get the impression McDermott and Beane feel pretty good about and who's style is very similar to Cousins. I think the Bills will trade both 1st round picks if the right QB fell and there were a willing trade partner, but I don't think they will go crazy and give up a ton of picks for the 3rd-5th best QB prospect in this draft class. If the ticket price gets to that point then Peterman is the Bills 2018 starter and they will use the picks to build the defense and OL. -
The Bills will be in the playoffs (breaking the 17 year streak) if they win their final 3 games and still have a decent chance if the go 2-1... ...and WGR hosts and a segment of never happy Bills fans can't stop complaining. SMH.

Punting was the right decision because the snow was giving the punters an advantage. They knew if their punt didn't go out of bounds it would probably stop dead in the snow in the field of play and not go into the end zone. So extending the game time and betting on either...1) the defense to get you the ball back close to the same spot with enough time to do something...or 2) a desperate Colts team turning it over close in their territory...were just simply better odds than going for it on that 50-50 chance 4th and 1 play. The weather had a big impact on that decision and McDermott clearly made the right call. See scoreboard.

Is the 2018 QB class highly overrated?
1billsfan replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills would have to trade up for Rudolph from where they will be picking. So giving up a couple of first round picks and probably another 3rd or 2nd rd pick between this and the 2019 drafts will not "technically" be a steal. However, I do see Rudolph as exactly the type of QB that McDermott and Beane would target as their franchise QB and won't be shy about giving up the picks necessary to get him. -
IMO that just isn't going to happen in this draft because it's a "QB draft" and the asking price to go from #3 to #19 (with even a 2nd first round pick) would basically be for the Bills to give up their their whole draft. It's more realistic to think the Bills would try to sneak into a position ahead of the Jets and still have some decent picks left over to build around a QB like Mayfield, Rudolph or Allen.
-
I think that the Bills will unfortunately probably have to part ways with that second 1st round pick to get the QB that they're targeting. Looking at the current draft order it looks like Tampa Bay would be the spot to try to get to at #8 (which would be ahead of teams needing QBs like the Jets, Cardinals and Redskins). The price to go very high, like a top 5 pick, would I'm sure be too rich for them. I don't see them waiting to see if their QB falls to them.

What do you fix first? OL or QB?
1billsfan replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only answer is QB, and the two part plan should look like this... Plan A: if you aren't sure about any of the QBs, wait till your first pick and pick the one that's still there and that you like best (having two first rounders is like having a free pick to take a shot at a QB) Plan B: if you're very sure about one or two of the QBs, do what it takes to get him -
Who do you want to start this week, Peterman or Taylor?
1billsfan replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is zero chance that Tyrod Taylor will be a Buffalo Bill next year. Add to that, there's the very good chance Peterman would be at least as productive as Taylor (extremely low bar) and that he will be Buffalo Bill next year, you have to start Peterman the rest of the season. That 5 interception game was just a total fluke occurrence. The only reason that Taylor would start now is because they just didn't want to deal with the blowback in the media, and that's not how you run a franchise. They always talked about having the "long term" vision a big part of their decisions. This is one of them. -
Is McDermott the new McDaniels?

You’re right, that Buffalo Bills team was humming along and played so valiantly at home against New Orleans. Then he had to go and ruin it. -
Tyrod asks for pro bowl votes, gets roasted
1billsfan replied to Teddy KGB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no doubt that Bill Belichick will be telling his defense this week that the Buffalo Bills starting QB is so confident he’ll play great against them that he’s literally asking for people to go vote for him to go to the pro bowl. This tweet was gold to Belichick. He’ll use it for all it’s worth. That’s why he gives NOTHING to the media. To put it nicely, Taylor’s tweet wasn’t very smart. -

You're missing the point and taking me too literal. It's the optics of your starting QB not being focused on the biggest game of his life. Plus, it's embarrassing that he thinks he's pro bowl worthy just a week and a half after getting benched for a 5th round rookie QB because his play was so poor. He looks delusional which is not a good look for your leader. -

This is your reaction to my reply? Really? LOL What do you think Bill Belichick's reaction would be to a player going on social media and asking for probowl votes? BTW, don't even bring Brady's name into this because not only he does he not have to ask for pro bowl votes, he doesn't care one bit about the pro bowl. -

It's so baffling that he would do this. Not a good look (nor feeling) heading towards the Patriots game. -

I'm very disappointed that Taylor did this, especially during the week of the first Patriots game of the season. It is not only laughable that he thinks he's worthy enough to ask for votes on social media, it goes against the "team" concept. Doing this is all about him and only him. Shouldn't he be watching film on the Patriots? Doing something other than this to increase his chances for success? Taylor better hope he plays well because you just know that McDermott is probably upset that he did this and he won't hesitate to bench him again. -
The key to beating the Patriots this Sunday is...
1billsfan replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You could also look at it that Miami could have softened him up a little bit for the Bills, then see what happens if the Bills start getting those kind of hits on him in an away game. -

Brady really only loses games when he's under pressure. I'm sure McDermott watching Miami getting really good pressure on Brady gives him some hope for an actually path to victory for his team. -
Is anyone here really a Tyrod fan?
1billsfan replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This team will be going through A LOT more changes. Taylor is clearly not going to be the starting QB in 2018 for numerous reasons, with the biggest reason is that the team will no doubt be drafting a QB early and that QB will become the starter. This is what new young regimes do, they start over with a rookie QB. So with that being said, I think that Bills fans should just enjoy this 2017 team without an eye towards 2018. This is Taylor's (and many other veterans) goodbye tour. I think the QB debates regarding Taylor need to start going away. He is who he is, the Bills will try to work with that to win games and get them into the playoffs. It's so clear that Taylor will be starting somewhere else next year. There's no need to debate it just like at some point there was no need to debate Fitzpatrick any longer. -
Just giving Schrager from Good Morning Football a shout out for his Bills beating the Chiefs upset prediction on Friday (17:35). I don't think you could find any other national media person who did that.

Lamar Jackson has a very similar playing style to Cam Newton and both the GM and HC are from the Panthers organization. I would not be surprised at all if Jackson was their guy over any of the QBs in this draft. It would probably involve trading up too, since the Bills will probably be outside of the top five.

I challenge you to find me any recent story of Paxton Lynch being a serious option for the Broncos future. If this were ever the case, then why would a total QB failure like Brock Osweiler be the next in line after Siemian was benched? You aren’t making any sense. Also, Nathan Peterman will be eventually seen as 100 times the better NFL QB than Paxton Lynch. BTW, everyone outside of Buffalo thinks Tyrod Taylor is solid is because they don’t watch the Buffalo Bills play football. They consider them an irrelevant franchise. They’ve only watched highlights of Taylor.
-
Trevor Siemian was benched for Brock Osweiler. BTW, your declarative statement about Lynch cracked me up.
-
That equates to Taylor having a 3 additional point advantage in collective Passing/Rushing TD output per game. That's less than half a touchdown difference in production. So he edges Siemian out in being the more productive QB. Yet Siemian's benching hit a 0 on the "benching outrage meter" vs Taylor's benching hit a 100 on the "benching outrage meter". The outrage was over the top in proportion to Taylor's actual production level.
