And that’s why I think Allen is a part of how you evaluate the trade. If Allen becomes at worst a solid starting nfl qb, the trade can be acceptable. If he has a JP Losman career, it’s a complete disaster no matter how good Tre White is (and he is borderline great). And you can say hindsight but isn’t that the whole job of a nfl gm?

But this is why I thought Mahomes was different than Allen 1). Reid. He chokes in the playoffs but he is one of the best offensive coaches of the last 20 years. If we had Reid pick Allen, I’d blindly trust it. I don’t have the same faith in SM and Daboll. Sorry. 2). College production. It definitely doesn’t mean nfl success but if you’re a first round qb, I want to see you dominant. Mahomes did and Allen rarely did. 3) Mahomes elite skills, which Allen as has. 4) sitting behind a vet. I was never a big Tyrod fan but he would have been a great guy for a young qb to sit behind to start their career. we disagree about this a bit but I always appreciate the perspective and I genuinely hope White and Allen turns out to be a good trade for us.

Come on Alpha. This is complete hindsight. The Giants were a 9-7 SB team who was carried by their defense. Rodgers had playoff games where he scored 45 and lost! How in the world can he be blamed and knocked for that! youre better than Alpha. I promise if Allen loses a playoff game where he leads us to 45 points, I will anoint him as a god.

Come on man. You’re better than that. SB rings? So Eli Manning is better than Aaron Rodgers? Marino and Kelly were worse players than Joe Flacco and Trent dilfer? Or they played on good teams? its really hard to win the SB. Fluke things happen, like your star rb kicking a girl. Mahomes is looking like an MVP on an 11-2 team. But come on with judging guys on just SB wins. Blake Birtles almost went to the SB last year. I’m tough on Allen but he could have a very good career without winning a SB.

Well, I love someone to find that draft thread. I loved both Watson and Mahomes and want as big of a fan of Mitchell. I agree there here were some of the questions with mechanics like Allen. But he had the production and elite skills. Allen has the skills but was far from dominant, which a top guy at Wyoming should be. But long way way to go. Feel free to bump this when Allen is having a MVP season next year. ?

He had 53 tds his last year in college. And do the whole point of the draft is projection. Did the Bills draft Allen thinking he would be the 57% passer in the Mountain West or that he would grow into something greater? the major difference is the Chiefs has Andy Reid draft a qb and we had juiced up Ron Howard do it.

Right. One of the best qb coaches in modern nfl history, who had a very solid veteran qb for an annual playoff team, and traded a bunch of picks to take Mahomes instead of getting a player to help his current team, didn’t know he was a great prospect! Let’s not forget he also lost his star rb and number 2 receiver. Dude is awesome.

Clearly he was wrong about starting Peterman over Tyrod. Its funny you call him a SJW and just revealed yourself. -

Haha, good post. I was the biggest homer on this board. I defended everything the Bills did and would just argue about how wrong the negative people were. I’ve gotten to a place in life where I just want to see it. So yeah, the 56% passer from the Moutbain West who is now a 52% passer worried me a bit. But I also see the amazing physical skills and genuinely hope he puts it all together. I guess the other way ot look at this is how do Bills fans feel about Rosen? Because I’m sure it is a lot more negative than Cards fans feel. -

At 52% completion %, he is 31st at yards per attempt at 6.3. Fitz with his rag doll arm is at 9.62. There is nothing wrong with getting the ball out quickly to your playmakers. It’s what every really good qb does and hope Allen learns to do. -

I don’t disagree with any of this. But we are also completely biased. I’ve said that part of the reason I’m dubious of Allen is because of EJ and JP. I used to do everything possible to discount all criticism of them. And overall, the critics proved to be right. The greatest part about this is Allen and the Bills can prove doubters wrong. And I sincerely hope he does. -

Look, brother. I respect your opinion a lot. I want you and everyone to be right. This has become a political debate or telling someone their baby is ugly. I want to be wrong and Allen to be a 60% passer. Personally, when I see a long track record of something, it worries me. I’m sure people could breakdown why Jake Locker wasnt really inaccurate too. But at some point, you just need to see it on the field. No one questions Allen’s physical ability and want to. But at some point, stop making excuses, and just become a more accurate qb. He has time and I hope he is just blaming other people for why his % has been lower. -
