If she's so underqualified and scandle ridden, why aren't the anti-republicans happy? Just wondering.

Anybody else noticing this. The word, "Look!" at the beginning of a sentence when the candidate, or expert commentater, or pundit is making a statement, on camera. It's sort of a clarifying pause, or maybe just an attention grabber. I find it annoying and condescending, and it's become a red flag for me. What it really seems to mean is "Listen up, the gibberish I was just saying was important, but not as important as the gibberish I'm about to say." Or, "Now let me be completely honest." (What were they doing before?). Or, "OK, you're not understanding this, so let me simplify it for you." Or, "here come the talking points." It's now the standard exclamation, somehow asking for a non-visual to become a visual, and seemingly chanted to signal that the wisdom that is about to be revealed should not be questioned, the words having the importance of an edict, a proclamation, or perhaps a previously undisclosed truth. It's over used, and sticks out like a sore thumb. But maybe that's just me. Some will say it five or six times during a lengthy diatribe or debate. Look, just for the fun of it, lets take out our pads and pencils during next Sunday's talk shows, and count how many times they use it. And keep score. They all say it; but I'm willing to bet the Democrats say it more. We could even make it a drinking game. Everytime your side says it, you have to take a swig.

Yep. Mother nature is usually going to have her way. But you know, New Orleans is so unique, you'd love to think there might be a way to build a super strong technologically advanced levy system that would work. It's wrong that the rest of the country has to bail them out every few years. In Florida, the tourists pay for so much, that there is no state or local tax. Wonder if New Orleans could be made to be the same way. If you want to visit, you're going to pay for part of the upkeep. If you don't want to visit there, GREAT, you don't pay for a thing.

palin 17 year old daughter pregnant

Obama's response "Let me be as clear as possible," Obama said. "I think people's families are off-limits, and people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as governor or her potential performance as a vice president." -
Why do some people rant on about how bad one side or the other is and how stupid people are for supporting them or having that sort of a viewpoint? What do they really think they are accomplishing by doing this? Does it make them feel good? They make like horn blowers standing on soap boxes with wax in their ears - and when they stop for a moment, all they see are other horn blowers like them and no one else. Then they wonder why? Then, not being able to come up with any better answer, they just think that they are superior to any other horn blower and that all others are just too stupid to recognize their greatness. Their party is the right one and they won't let anyone forget it and the opposite party is nothing but lying garbage and they won't let anyone forget that either. Anyone with an opposing view has to be just plain stupid, ignorant and of course, 'close minded.' Or a lier. I've got news for them: No one is listening to you because you turned them off. It's very simple: no one likes being insulted or having their views ran down into the ground. No one likes anyone who spouts off about being the know-it-all and superior to all either. You'll attract other horn blowers and insulters and probably trade insults and methods of shoving that wax further into your ears, but what are you really accomplishing? Nothing! That is unless you like just spouting off, insulting others and their ideas and being worthlessly argumentative. Insults do a great job of driving people to the opposite side of your view. What you accomplish with insults is strengthening the other side. By treating them with full dignity and kindness, you stand a chance at winning them over, or at least get them to the point of respecting you and your way of looking at things.

You are calling me a lier. For saying what? Someone who would defend Michael Moore is calling me a lier. Well that says it all for me.

I already saw it. It is what it is. But keep spinning things if you feel you need to.

The context is that they see a political advantage for their party because this hurricane is hitting where it is, and when it is, during the Republican convention. Nothing out of context here. Maybe a little uncareful honesty. If people suffer and die, too bad. Kind of like an automitive body shop owner who not so secretly is happy when it rains, because people have crashes. It's good for his business. But regardless, Michael Moore is pond scum.
-
Not surprising though, coming from him. Jimmy Carter said something similar the other night about the timing of the hurricane and it being bad for the Republicans. He quickly realized what he said and added and of course those people in its path. Why doesn't some Republican leader come forward and ask why do these liberal leaders wish to see this devastation?

Rock you like a hurricane

Well, Obama should do something, like make the hurricane stay away. -
So, should someone be fired at MSNBC?

That would make him 80? Nice exageration. -
Oh, just any, Frenches in a jar will do. Just plain old mustard.

Originally from my brother, who got it from a friend who used to work at a restaurant in Rochester that served it. But when I couldn't get ahold of him, I googled "country sweet wings," and found a recipe that looked like what I remembered. I don't remember the lemon juice, but still sounds good to me. Google really is amazing.

Country Sweet: 1 cup sugar 2/3 cup prepared mustard 3/4 cup catsup 1/4 to 1/3 cup lemon juice 1/4 to 1/2 cup vinegar 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard (optional) 1/2 to 2 teaspoons hot pepper flakes (crushed red peppers) Combine all in a small saucepan and simmer until thickened. Vary the amounts of lemon juice and vinegar to adust the sweetness to your liking.

9-year-old boy told he’s too good to pitch
Cheeseburger_in_paradise replied to Nervous Guy's topic in Off the Wall Archives
It's the same in girl's softball. I know. I actually remember having to get two get two forms of ID for my child to participate at the start of little leaugue and then all over again for All-Stars, in the same season. Natually, we couldn't seem to find her birth certificate, so we had to go purchase another one. Bear in mind, this child doesn't work, doesn't vote, does not drive, is not in the military. So paranoid are the the organizers about cheeting, which means it probably is going on. Well, takes one to know one, I guess. -

Toby Keith supports Obama
Cheeseburger_in_paradise replied to PastaJoe's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I saw that. He is a life long Democrat. Beck asked him who he was going to vote for, but he said he had not decided, or he wouldn't say. It's a real stretch for AP to say Toby Keith supports Obama. Ah The Press.....I'd say it's a better chance he will vote for Obama than him ever becoming friends with the Dixie Chicks. -
