  1. RBs need a little to be desired, but you have Williams and Foster, so you should be set with at least one spot. Droughns and Lundy should work out fairly well. A little help and you are sitting pretty. Prediction 2/10. Nice Draft. What you lose in production at the RB slots, you more than make up with QB and WR depth.
  2. I'm on board with your first 2 picks..but who was selected in the 3rd round? This is where I think you stumbled. You are lacking a QB and a #1 WR. You got pretty good depth and looks like you did very well in the later rounds. But not spending pick #3 wisely is keeping you out of the top tier of the league IMO. Prediction: 5 out of 10
  3. Rookie Mistake : Lots of players on your favorite team Average QBs: Certianly nothing exciting here... No depth at RB. Might have 4 starters...but likely will have just 2. WRs are average. Interesting that none of them are the #1 WRs on their team. But still, not a terrible group. Who is playing the flex slot? Your choices right now are Jurevicious/Addai/Haynes. Need to fix that. QUICK! You will get crushed at this position. TE: Royal? Seriously? Bubba Franks could be good, but more than likely he will go on to be an injured washed up tight end with a quarterback who is frustrated. I predict you will finish 8th in a 10 man league. But remember, this is fantasy football. If you gobbled up gado last year, or Goings the year before you would be all set. Watch the waiver wire like a hawk. You can do fine.
  4. IDP draft throws me off some. Thoughts 1) Too many question mark guys. Guys who could be good if healthy or productive, but just as easily could be unhealthy or unproductive. (I.e. Portis, Warner, Taylor, Deuce, Gore, L. White, etc.). Makes for a high probabilty of Boom or Bust season. 2) Dont think you took Witten too early, but I do think you reached on Warner. Especially since you grabbed Cullpepper 5 rounds later and he will likely be your starter. 3) Always hate to see 2 kickers taken. You will wind up dropping one after the bye week of your starting kicker anyway...so you are only looking at one week out of your backup. Even the worst kicker in the league should be an adaquate fill-in for that one week. Minor flaw though. 4) You waited a long time to get your IDPs....might be the scoring system. I dont know. No real comment here, except it seems odd. All in all, I think you have a decent team. If your questionable guys turn out healthy and productive, I think you will wind up in the top 3. My prediction: 4th out of 10.

  6. And the alternative would have been to get Aaron Rogers the next draft....not looking like that pick would have been any better.
  7. http://www.tonawanda-news.com/buffalobills...=secondarystory BILL DOSE: AFL kicker to meet with Bills By Jay Skurski Greater Niagara Newspapers Salverio Rocca, a star kicker with the Kangaroos of the Australian Football League, has his sights set on America, and in particular, the Buffalo Bills. According to the Australian Associated Press, Rocca will play his last game with the Kangaroos this week, then head to the U.S., where he’ll meet with the Bills and possibly one other NFL team. Rocca hopes to follow in the footsteps of AFL players Darren Bennett and Ben Graham, who became NFL punters.
  8. Time Warner needs to make a business decision. 1) Lose subscribers because they do not have NFL Network or 2) Lose subscribers because their rates went up to cover the increased expenses from the NFL Network. Time Warner is a business. They are in business to make money. Apparently TW thinks option 3 is the best. Keep all non-nfl consumers happy by keeping their rates (relatively) low, and offer a special package for those who opt to pay a little more to recieve. Frankly, there are plenty of options in this market these days, so let your wallet do the talking. And if you think DirecTV is any better you are kidding yourself. Sure, they offer NFL Network on standard packages. You still have to pay extra for HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, HDTV, Sports packages, etc. etc. Same concept.
  9. My post (#4) were all PS players. My comment was that, since there are many UDFAs that turn out to be good, it only stands to reason that there were many UDFAs that made a practice squad and turned out to be good.
  10. There are tons of guys who were UDFAs who went on to excellent careers. It only stands to reason there are some practice squad guys who did the same. Quick Google Search: Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila Samkon Gado Matt Hasselbeck I am sure there is more.
  11. We can start with Jason Peters.... And the answer has to be yes. Look at all the UDFAs who have made a name for themselves.
  12. Probably need someone else to chime in on this...I feel I am more knowlegeble on finances than 90% of the fans out there, so I think I know the answer here, so I'll give it a shot....but might want someone to verify before you take it to the bank. Waivers - Other teams have the option to claim, if they do, they take him and his current contract. If multiple claims exist, team with higest priority gets said player. Released - Current contract is voided, player becomes a FA. Able to sign with any team at any contract terms. In MLB, and I assume NFL also, a player must be waived prior to being released. As far as cap ramifications go, one is synonomous with the other.
  13. I agree with Jokeman. I think Engram is the play here. Wouldnt mind burning a later pick on NB, but Engram is my guy for the job. And for what its worth, I wouldnt go near DJAX this year. The guys knee is just too questionable.
  14. Ugh...not a good position to be in eh? How many points are Passing TDs worth? If it is 6, manning is probably going to be an attractive option. If Portis is still on the board at 8...I dont know how you dont take him though. Tough call. The fact they picked up Duckett will give them plenty of time to make sure Portis is ready to play before they bring him back. I wouldnt be suprised to see him miss 2-3 weeks. If you do take him, try to burn a pick later on Duckett. Another thing I have seen pulled off this year (with varying levels of success), is taking WR/WR in the first 2 rounds if you are picking late (as you are). You could likely wind up with Chad Johnson and Steve Smith and need to pick up some RBs later on. In a 10 team league, you could probably wind up with Kevin Jones/Julius Jones/Willie Parker/Deshawn Foster/Gore/Barlow/Jamal Lewis when your 3rd pick comes back. Something to think about.
  15. Yeah, he has...he signed a multi-year contract extension with a large bonus
  16. It is Blah. As in not a lot of excitement. But its pretty solid. You have alot of guys that are not household names, but should be decent. McNabb has fallen off the face of the earth this year. Last year he was a top 3 QB, now some peopel dont even have him in the top 10. He isnt Top 3 this year. But he also isnt out of the top 10...But Kitna? I suspect you will be hitting the waiver wire early and often to replace him. SJAX gets overlooked. McGahee is probable to have a breakout year (or at least an improved year) Gore....if he can stay healthy you might have a good steal here. No glitz and glamour at RB, but good solid guys who should do you well. Not to mention Williiams and Addai. I dont see either starting for the first few weeks, but by the end of the year you could be in the money there as well. WR is average...but you still have (on my list) 3 of the top 24 WRs, which on average is better than your competition. Again, Mason and Coles are not household names...but who cares. They are solid fantasy performers. TE: I dont like gates this year. He is still #1 on my draft board for TE, but I am not buying the change of QB in San Diego. Still though, you should get good numbers out of him. All in all...You have a fighting chance to win this league. I suspect there are more dominate teams right now on paper, but with FF you never know. I wouldnt count your team out yet. Keep an eye on the WW for a different backup QB. You are also carrying alot of roster spots for RBs...I would like to see you add another WR...but I dont know who to drop...so...go with it i guess.
  17. Final height = 36. Original height = 12 You can do it by trial and error if you wish, or you can do it the correct way. Set up these equations 1) A[o] = 1/2* b*h[o] 2) A[f] = A[o] + 96 3) A[f] = 1/2 * b * h[f] 4) h[f] = 3 * h[o] 5) Profit.
  18. Not much. He wants serious coin. We need a #2 (or 1a) WR, but not at this price tag, and thats not even accounting for the patriots demands. I would have no problem with us going after him on the open market when his contract expires, so long as we dont overpay him.
  19. Not bad. Everyone else is saying about what I am thinking....I am just going to say it longer. Very good team. RB2 is the problem. But I would take a different approach. Take a look at your waiver wire. Is Lawrence Maroney there? Waste no time and pick him up. While RB2 is the big problem now, odds are good dillon will not start every week, and NE didnt spend a first rounder on Maroney for nothing. Sure up that #1 RB slot. You can find someone later to fill the other spot when guys unexpectedly go down. Problem is, Bush is a crapshoot. I think he will be very good, but I would not start him week 1 until I know for sure. Lendell...Probably the least physical back on Tenn, so is likely to lose alot of goaline carries, which is disaster in an RBBC. However, TH and Brown both have injury concerns and White has the most upside in the music city. White is another guy I would like to have on my roster, but not start week 1. Barlow is a likely week 1 starter, but I put as much faith in him as I do a high pressure timeshare pitch. It sounds really good, almost too good...you're not really sure why, but you know its not going to work out as planned. Moderatly good week 1 start. Also, Check the waiver wire for these guys: 1) TJ Duckett - Might be a starter week 1. Gives you a solid #2 for at least week 1. Listen to the news and dump him if it sounds like Portis will be ready. 2) Vernand Morency or Wali Lundy. Houston is supposed to be RBBC for the first week. I expect Lundy to get the job by himself come week 5 or 6 and may not give it back up....pending Dominick Davis's Knee condition. 3) Sam Gado - Davenport is hurt (again) and Green will not make it through the season (again) Just some guys to think about. There is not reason to carry 2 defenses or 2 kickers right now. Drop Reed and Jets DEF and pick up 2 of the above guys (at least Maroney). Give yourself a fighting chance. BTW, love your WRs. Every one of them. Edwards and Jennings are late round possible steals. Evans is severly underrated this year (and its not because I am a bills fan), and then the big 3. Very well done.
  20. If current projections stand, this time next week New Orleans will be hit by Katrina II (AKA Ernesto). Ernest may not be quite as powerful a hurricane, but it will no doubt give Mayor Nagin a chance to prove that he has learned from the events last year and has developed a plan to help get people out of the city. Though I'm not holding my breath. Thoughts and prayers are with all of you on the gulf coast as yet another storm will likely be upon the mainland.
  21. 1) Is the OLine improved? 2) Is JP ready to lead this team? 3) Who will be the #2 WR? 4) Is TKO back to being TKO? 5) Will Clements be the elite DB he thinks he is? 6) Will Willis be the elite RB he thinks he is? 7) Who will step and succeed at DT? (There are alot of options here). 8) Is Juron Awake? 9) Will the bills move to LA? 10) What happens if Favre offers to draw a smiley face on JPs nuts? Okay, so I got carried away...but you get the point.
  22. Was I the only one hoping SF would trade up in the draft and select Bush? I would have loved to see a Bush/Gore backfield. And a bonus if they picked up Kerry Collins...and he plays the week Rice is retired.
  23. Not sure who you are refering to, but im talking about Maurice Hicks. Gore hasnt proved he can stay healthy, and Hicks has shown flashes of brilliance in the past. Its clearly Gores job right now, but if he goes down, the potential exists for hicks to take the job and make it his own.
