  1. You guys are funny. Marv & Co. have a "to do" list. There are a whole lot of items on that list. Some of them have deadlines. The deadline for slapping a tender on someone turns out to be thursday. You have to think thats pretty close to top priority right now, along with making competitive offers to our own guys before FA starts. Anderson, meh. I dont particularly like him either, but there is NO REASON not to put a tender on the guy. Nothing to see here. No harm in doing it. I'd be more upset if we DIDNT tender him. In the overall glance of our offseason, this move will rank about #150 down on the importance scale. Somewhere below sending a scout team to check out the pro day at William & Mary.
  2. Good link. Someone got killed by a daushund?
  3. The thought is this: Willis performs best when he is motivated. No better motivation than a contract year. Let him have a great season, tag him, then trade him when he has some value (or at least more than he has now). Potential upside: First Round pick. Potential Downside: Willis has a bad year and we do not get a 4th round pick.
  4. Has he had any other injuries besides breaking his collar bone? I wouldnt say that alone classifies him as injury prone. But I agree...this this h'orrible...this idea. (and Bryan McKnight just busted my eardrums with the national anthem in Fontana)
  5. Yeah, he has had some problems with injuries in the past, drops a few too many passes, but he is still a VERY good reciever. Trading for him, we are off the hook for his signing bonus, and all we owe him is the 12M over 3 years. Not a bad option at all....
  6. Ugh, im getting so sick of this. SHAWN ALEXANDER AND EDGARRING JAMES WERE NOT WORTH A 2ND ROUND PICK. WHY IS WILLIS?????
  7. I agree 100%. And considering Edgarrin James and Shawn Alexander couldnt bring in a 2nd round pick last season, I doubt we could get one for Willis. Keep him, let him prove he deserves $$$$$. Tag him. Trade him for a 2nd rounder next year (if you can).
  8. http://www.rosenhaussports.com/athletes.php Pretty good Testimonials as well
  9. You do realize that Drew Rosenhaus works with a team of people, right?. Its not just him. And as far as his clients go, very few of them are Free Agents. He has his rookies to deal with, Donte Stallworth & Lance Briggs. Throw in McGahee shouldnt be that difficult.
  10. Why would someone pay a first round pick for a RB? I have been avoiding doing this due to the length it will take, but lets run through the teams Miami - Ronnie Brown (Ricky Williams?) Buffalo - WM NYJ - Open Patriots - Maroney (Dillon) Steelers - Willie Parker Ravens - Jamal Lewis Bengals - Rudi Browns - Open (Droghns) Indianapolis - Addai (Rhodes) Houston - Open (Dayne) (Lundy) Jacksonville - Jones-Drew (Fred Taylor) Tennessee - Open (Henry) (Chris Brown) Denver - Mike Bell (Tatum Bell) Kansas City - Larry Johnson Oakland - Lamont Jordan San Diego - LT (Turner) Dallas - Julius Jones (Barber) Giants - Open (Jacobs) Eagles - Westbrook (Buckhalter) Washington - Portis (Betts) (Duckett) Chicago - Thomas Jones (Benson) Detroit - Kevin Jones Green Bay - Open (A. Green) Minnesota - Chester Taylor Atlanta - Dunn (Norwood) Carolina - D. Williams (D. Foster) New Orleans - R. Bush (Deuce) Tampa Bay - C. Williams Arizona - Edggarin James San Fran - Frank Gore Seattle - Alexander (Morris) St. Louis - Steven Jackson So, tell me, WHERE can McGahee go? 1) NYJ. No Chance. Not in division 2) Cleveland 3) Houston 4) Tennessee (if Henry leaves) 5) NY Giants 6) Green Bay Thats it. Six teams need a running back. Maybe throw in Tampa Bay, Denver, Dallas and Detroit. But for now, lets leave them out of it, and assume they will stick with Caddilac, The Bells, JuliusJones/Barber and Kevin Jones. To fill those six slots, here are the choices 1) Marshawn Lynch 2) Adrian Peterson 3) Michael Bush 4) Kenny Irons 5) Travis Henry 6) Corey Dillon (If he doesnt retire) 7) Ahman Green 8) Corell Buckhalter 9) Ladell Betts 10) Dominick Rhodes 11) Micheal Turner 12) Kevin Barlow 13) Reuben Droghns 14) Fred Taylor 15) Thomas Jones (If Chicago puts him on the market and goes with Benson) Tell me, how much better is Willis McGahee (honestly) than most of those guys on the list? Might be a little better than some, but most on the above list come FREE. Dominick Rhodes (for no pick) or Willis (for a pick)? A first rounder folks, is unrealistic. Love it. Want it to happen. I'll eat the paper I wote this on if it happens. I just think its a waste of time discussing it. Because, realistically, it aint happenin'.
  11. Such a strategy also increases the likelyhood of future holdouts when the salary drops below what he can earn on the free market.
  12. Ya know, willis hasnt done anything to make us love him, but the hatred by some on this board for him is baffling. Other than the toronto comment, what has he done to make him so hated?
  13. Hm...I like your solution better. GET IT DONE TD ...Oops. GET IT DONE MARV!
  14. Hmm.... Trade Willis to NYG for their #1. Take Adiran Peterson at #12 and Willis (LB) with the Giants pick. Now we're takin!
  15. Take the best player available with #12 that plays one of these positions OT DT LB CB TE Its as simple as that.
  16. For the last time...YOU CANT PREDICT NEXT YEARS STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE!!!!!!! Ow. my voice. This year, we were thinking our schedule was EASY. The Jets, Titans, Packers, Ravens, Chargers and Bears were all much better than we thought they would be. You have no idea how next season will play out. Last year at this time, teams were looking at a schedule with the Steelers, Dolphins, Panthers and Redskins thinking their schedules were VERY difficult. Teams scheduled to play the Titans, Jets, Saints and Eagles were majorly disappointed. There is no rational reason to expect our schedule to be difficult next year. Does it look that way on paper? Perhaps. But in todays NFL you know teams that you expect to go 13-3 will finish 6-10, and vice versa.
  17. Not really. If I recall correctly, teams with the same record rotate picks in the later rounds. i.e if three teams finish 1-15, team a gets the #1 overall, team b gets the #2 overall and team c gets the #3 overall, based on SOS. However in round 2, #33, 34 and 35 will not be a,b,c but rather b,c,a or c,b,a (not sure which one)
  18. And what teams are out there that need a RB? Keep in mind Micheal Bush, Marshawn Lynch, Adrian Peterson and Kenny Irons will all be picked in the first 2 rounds and be expected to start... Point is, starting RBs are a dime a dozen. They all have big egos and want the rock. But there are 40-50 starting caliber RBs in this league and only 32 starting jobs.
  19. I still got 9 more to go, but 26 days vacation a year is a TON of time. Heck, I can hardly use the 20 a year I got now. One of the reasons I dont plan on leaving federal service.
  20. Yeah, he would probably be a good fit...ugh
  21. Man, what an offseason for the chargers (and LT)... LT is a class act. So sad. It reminds you every day could be your last....
