Case Keenum, QB - University of Houston
JimBob2232 replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am a big fan of the "draft a QB in round 6/7 every year" mentality. You dont expect those guys to make it anyway, and you always need a young QB. So I wouldnt have a problem taking Keenum, but my opinion is that he wont make it in the NFL. JUST DO NOT TAKE A RB IN ROUND 1. -
Spend our 7th on him...and im happy.
-
If they even take another RB...I want to say "i'm done"...but i know thats not realistic. I dont care if Walter Payton is sitting there when we pick...DONT TAKE ANOTHER @#$%^ RUNNING BACK. Okay...deep breath...
-
Seriously...is there a website anywhere that lists all the bills heartbreaking losses over the last 10 years? It would be horrible to read, but I gotta think we have WAY MORE than our fair share.
-
Really? You're a bills fan right? How many times have you had 58 minutes of excitement followed by 2 minutes (or 2 seconds) of disappointment? Wide Right Home Run Throw-Back The Dallas Monday Night Debacle Jacksonville Last-Second Catch The New England Opener Last Year And thats just off the top of my head...I'll take 58 minutes of bordom and 2 minutes of excitement as long as it comes away with a W. (By the way, NOT a Tebow advocate at all...)

Yep. Thanks. Thats clearly what I meant. So you mean to tell me that if we improve to .500 next year and are finally on the up-take that you would fire Gailey and try again? I think not. 6-10 gets him fired. So does 7-9. 8-8 or better next year is an improvement and worth keeping him around for another season. -
Luxury Pick, Bust, Average at best
JimBob2232 replied to Homey D. Clown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's my problem. YOU DONT DRAFT A RUNNING BACK IN THE FIRST ROUND! (And if you do, you damn well better hit a home run). Look through the league. Any number of teams have good RBs who they have picked up later in the draft. A quick sampling: Fred Jackson - undrafted Turner - 5th Round Murray - 3rd ROund Gore - 3rd Round Foster - Undrafted Greene - 3rd Round Hillis - 7th Round Bradshaw - 7th Round ...I am sure there are others (and I'll spare you the Terrell Davis's) Point is, RB is THE ONE POSITION where you can almost literally plug someone in and have them be successful. Maybe CJ isnt the guy, but guarentee you plug CJ in, White, and a couple other guy and eventually you will find you next Fred Jackson or Arian Foster. And it DIDNT cost you much money or any draft picks.` Because of that, it was asinine to draft Willis McGahee when you had Travis Henry. But it was no more ridiculous than drafting Marshawn Lynch when you had Willis McGahee. Nor was it any more insane when they drafted Spiller when Lynch was on the roster. Those are 3 wasted picks to me (and they were at the time as well). Lets stop this. We can never draft another RB in the first round for as long as I am alive and I will be happy. We waste enough first rounders when we actually pick a position that is difficult to fill. STOP WITH THE RBs. -

In my opinion, he is on the hot seat next season. Gotta get to .500 next season or he is gone. -

Lots of good players in this game. Ogletree from GA is impressive too -
Epic turnaround or continued free falling?

So I think playoffs odds are pretty high if we go 10-6. It is conceivable for us to make it even at 9-7, although that is unlikely. Basically we have to assume either Pittsburgh or Baltimore will get a Wild Card Slot. That leaves ONE more spot. So, first things first, we need to pass the Jets for 2nd place in the Division. The Jets have an easy Schedule, so we need them to start losing Now. Big Game for them against the Redskins this week. Then they have to play KC, Phi, NYG and MIA. Cincinatti is also problamatic. We need them to lose both games against PIT/BAL, and at least one more game (HOU, STL, ARZ) I think thats about it. I was worried about Tennessee, but when we beat them this weekend, we will have a tiebreaker over them. Same with Denver. Bottom line, the previous poster was right. We need to win out...Jets need to lose 2/5. Cincinatti needs to lose 3/5. I think the ladder two are likely to occur...the former is the bigger obstacle. -
See...this is a preference thing. I have heard countless people say "A window is good enough because you're hardly ever in your cabin anyway." My wife and I are the EXACT OPPOSITE. We enjoy sitting on our private balcony reading a book and watching the ocean go by. We enjoy sitting out there at night, smelling the salt water with only the moonlight and stars above us. Needless to say, we spend a good amount of our time on our balcony. For us it is DEFINITELY worth it, and we could never cruise without one. But clearly there is an alternative position, and it all depends on your personal preference. But then again, we are probably the worst passengers on a cruise line! We dont drink (much), We dont gamble (at all). We dont eat in the specialty resturaunts because we dont see the point when the dining room is so good. We DO get the ship excursions because we like the safety factor of getting back to the boat. Basically when we get our bill, its Tips and maybe a t-shirt or something...they must hate us

Couple tips...Sorry if you know these already. 1) Bring an alarm clock of some sort (or some way to tell time), your room may not have one, and your cell phone may not work. 2) Bring Dress Clothes, or at least a Suit Jacket for a Guy. There will likely be a "Formal" night. Different cruise lines have different rules, but you may not be able to eat in the dining hall on formal night if you dont have a jacket. 3) Try to not over-pack. Easier said than done. No need to bring Beach Towels. 4) Know the Cruise Lines rules on bringing on Alcohol. Most will not allow it. If you buy it in port, they will store it until the last day on-board. 5) Most lines are "cashless". You wont need ANY cash on-board, but you will need some if you plan on buying things ashore. If you are in Europe, try to find an ATM machine affiliated with your Bank to take out cash. 6) Drinks are EXPENSIVE. Plan for $6-7 each. 7) Dont even think of skipping the safety drill! Cruises are a TON of fun...even though I just made it sound like there are 1,000 rules to abide by. If you are a "sit on the beach and drink" kind of guy, you will clearly be a "sit on the balcony and drink" kind of guy. Have fun!

AFC/Bills Playoff Hunt (7 weeks to go)
JimBob2232 replied to Ramius's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In my opinion, Baltimore and Pittsburgh are both going to the playoffs. Dont see it happening any other way. The remaining wild card slot is between Buffalo, NY Jets, and Tennessee. Since Buffalo plays both the Jets and Tennessee, those games are critical. Just cant see Cincinnati pulling this off...but if they do, their road goes through Baltimore and Pittsburgh, so they will supplant either Baltimore or Pittsburgh as the one wildcard from the North. I think 10-6 gets us in...or 9-7 with wins over both Tennessee and NY Jets. -
Funny...a couple years ago people were ragging on him that he ran 10 yards past the QB. Now he is remembered playing hard every snap. Not passing any judgement, just amazed at how much difference 2 years makes on perception.

Seems to now be the Harbaugh / Schwartz thread
JimBob2232 replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow. Both those guys were wrong. Harbaugh...shake his hand, congratulate him for a hard-fought battle...and go into the locker room. Schwartz, dont chase him down and start a brawl. Walk back to your locker room, hold your head up in knowing you are a better man than he is. Ugly event for both coaches. -

My revised W/L this year based on first two games
JimBob2232 replied to D521646's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That would take some kind of miracle...losing 3 games, yet going 14-2.... -
I dont quite get the pessimism on the Colts. Sure they lose Manning...They still have Reggie Wayne, Joseph Addai, Dallas Clark, Pierre Garcon, Austin Collie and SUPER BOWL WINNING QB Kerry Collins. While they might not make the playoffs, expecting them to go 3-13 or worse is quite ridiculous in my opinion. I put them at 9-7 or 8-8 without Manning.

Always makes me laugh, because that season, before the concussion, people (and not just here at TBD, but ESPN talking heads) were mentioning him as MVP material. He was something special that year before the injury. Sad really.

It just means that Kyle Williams doesnt think he is good enough to warrant a big contract. The guy has a confidence problem and it is rubbing off on the rest of the team. We should cut him now. [/sarcasm] (Too soon???)
