  1. The difference is that nobody right now is claiming Ohio State, Penn State of Florida State should have a chance at the national championship. In fact, they already lost a game, Someone always gets left out. Even in the NFL or MLB there is always a team on teh cusp that doesnt make it. Doesnt mean the system is bad, just means they werent good enough to be a surefire team in the playoffs. If penn state wants to be in the playoffs and have a shot at the championship, they need to beat michigan. They didnt, they lost, now they need some help to get in, and if they finish on the bubble, thats their own fault, and thats acceptable. What is NOT acceptable is if virginia tech finishes undefeated but doesnt get a chance to play for the championship because texas and usc are also undefeated. This scenrio will not play out with a playoff system as proposed on this thread.
  2. Here is my plan. Have 6 auto bids to the tournament. Give one to each of the following confeneces: Big 10, SEC, Big East, ACC, Big 12, Pac 10. Let each conference decide who to send to the tournament (i.e. regular season winner or tournament champion). Then have 2 at large bids. These auto bids would allow for any team not given an auto bid. Use a BCS-like formula to determine these 2 bids. Then rank 1-8 and play 1vs 8, 2vs7, 3vs6 and 4vs 5. Then have 2 remaining weeks to determine a champion. If money is an issue, it wont be when they see how much revenue a playoff system would generate.
  3. I hope VA Tech goes undefeated and doesnt get a chance at the championship game. VA tech fans drive me crazy, and perhaps FINALLY, we would get a playoff system...at least VA Tech fans might stop arguing with me about it
  4. On a side note, Im looking to go to the jets/bills game on/around new years. How are jets fans? I am going to be taking my younger brother (17) to the game as well. If we show up in full bills clothing will there be problems? We wont be antagonizing anyone, just watching the game. Anyone have any meadowlands experiences?
  5. I dont know..the vikings without Randy Moss are greatly improved this year...might the same kind of sucess happen to oakland without him?
  6. Drop Gonzalez and Henry, add in D. Jackson and Javon Walker and you have my disaster of a team.... Luckilly I have C. Palmer / C. Johnson to pull me out some weeks.
  7. I also dont have a problem with it. If you are going to take that approach, then what is the point of even having divisions? Just take the top 6 teams in each conference and send them to the playoffs. Its something you have to deal with. You cant change the rules during the season.
  8. Definatly the lines. Our needs (in order) 1. LT /O-Line 2. DT 3. LB (need some youth) 4. TE (less important if euhus or Everett pans out) 5. S (also need youth) And CB pending on clements. Really...our offense is set. We need some O-Line help, and like it or not, we are stuck with losman for 2 more years at least (note: I think he will be very good, he just needs time in the game). Defense is getting older and we need to start thinking about the future there. I am happy with our DEs this year. Of course, if we got a chance to draft a freeney or peppers, we cant pass that opportinity up, but its not worth taking a guy early if a good OL/DL is there
  9. eh, i dont have a problem with him being the #3. We need a young guy to be the #3 guy, not shane matthews (though I am glad he is here too...).
  10. Last I checked we start 2 CBs each game.
  11. but but TD cant draft!
  12. The real question that should be asked (if you can hold your breath and not critsize TD for a second) is why could seattle not get a 2nd for alexander? And why could Indianapolis not get a 2nd for James, yet we got a 3rd for Henry?
  13. I admit, I wanted him out of here. I thought he had the ability to be a good kicker, but needed a change of scenery to do so. I am very happy to see him being so sucessful. I still have little confidence in him...but if he keeps going at this rate, he will earn it.

  15. Now that I think of it...they probably have scheduled only one 4PM game in HD every week...and since the Pats are playing...we lose.
  16. Well thats a bummer. I thought for sure this game would be in HD due to the NY media market.
  17. While I dont doubt that we might still have a chance at the playoffs, taking over 1st from new england seems like a very difficult uphill battle. I was suprised to see we were so close to NE in the poll. Course its just a poll, and an unscientific one at that...so it isnt worth anything, but I am suprised about 70 percent of the people didnt take NE.
  18. New England 38% Buffalo 35% Miami 16% NY Jets 11% Whaaaaaa?
  19. Dont see the game in HD listed on Directv. Does anyone know if it is?
  20. Hmm....wonder if anyone could score.
  21. Hmm...it seems to me that that is EXACTLY what he did. I dont read anything into it, but it seemed to me thats what he did.
  22. So...what you are saying is that we should put him on special teams to replace campbell?
  23. This poll is horrible. It really needs to be a 1-10 rating scale. I dont think Mularkey is doing a good job, but he isnt doing a horrible one either. I give him a 3 or 4 on a 10 point scale...
  24. No, they get to "Advise and consent". And from what I understand, she comes highly reccomended. The consent phase will begin shortly.
  25. Show me where it is written that there ARE requirements to being a supreme court justice. THERE ARE NONE. You dont have to be a judge. You dont have to be a lawyer. You dont even have to be 20 years old or a US Citizen!. All you have to do is be able to convince people that you have the integrity, competence and the judicial temparment necessary for the job (and that isnt even techically a requirement either!) SHE IS QUALIFIED TO BE A SUPREME COURT JUSTICE.
