Well.......I guess my take on this is....
_BiB_ replied to BF_in_Indiana's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I was going to play, then decided not to. This is the guy who has time to memorize sports statistics dating back to 1960, but obviously hasn't lifted a finger to try to understand how the world works. If he had even read some of the threads here concerning the issues he mentions, he wouldn't make such a stupid post. Unfortunately, there's millions like him out there. This election shouldn't have been close. -
I based my vote on National Defense. Simply put, the Bush "Team" understands the issues, what needs to be done and has the resolve to go through with it, even though they know it is not the popular choice. This really hamstrung them during the campaign, because the logical choices and approaches to Homeland Security, homeland Defense and the prosecution of the Global War on Terror, and the couterproliferation of WMD very rarely, if ever, make attractive soundbites. I could discuss how some of these things work, and you'd probably be horrified at my callousness. The Kerry "Team" was going to politicize the Global War on Terror and homeland Defense, knowingly and deliberately initiating programs that appeal to voters, and the International community-but detrimental to the strategic goals of the war.

Not to these people. How many conversations have been had here about those kinds of things, which when added up would explain to your most basic rock how things work, and how many people keep spouting the same tired lines? You just can't explain what a great job is being done to these guys. How many even know who got arrested in July and August, what their roles were and what effect it had on the network?
-
Point is, AG blew it. This gives Kerry a lot more legitimacy if he wants to run again.
-
Edwards, ever the lawyer was arguing to keep it going until every avenue was exhausted. Kerry said it was over. I really appreciate that. I personally thought that no matter what happened, this was headed to the courts. Might be the best move he's made over the entire campaign, as far as how people remember him. Whatever happened to that Gore fellow, anyway?
-
For not putting us through that again, in these times. You definitely outclassed your running mate on this one.

If he told Melody he would, I'll wait on him. This isn't a do yesterday. No huge rush.

What Changes Will GWB make to his Cabinet?
_BiB_ replied to BuffaloBorn1960's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I like Condi. Why not shift her to State, so she has more of a balance and keeps the name recognition in case hillary decides to make a run in '08? What a counter punch. -

This country hasn't learned from the past

Do you ever read anything posted here? Run a search on my posts concerning the middle east. Do the same with Mickey as well, and he's from the left side. Run a google on national defense priorities and one on the philosophy of Al Qaida. You have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to any of this, yet you are standing on the playground wetting your pants. This whole thing is bigger than your emotions. Lead, follow, or get out of the way. There are a lot of Democrats who went to work this morning around this area that I thank God don't have your outlook. The National Capitol Region is very heavily Democrat. I doubt many are crapping themselves as you are. They are going to support this President just as the Republicans supported Bill Clinton, because the price of not doing so is too high. It's the country that's important here. And somehow, some way, enough people figured out who would be more true in their resolve to protect it, and maintain some sense of values that deteriorate more each day. -
You have to respect a true majority
_BiB_ replied to theesir's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Although I risk a flaming, you are very right. Just an opinion, but the Dems all seem to be concentrating on what is best for them individually, while he Reps seem to be concentrating on what is better collectively. The Dems need to figure this one out. they have to adjust a mindset, not just come up with new ideas. -
BTW, if you're lurking out there we have a date with a Grouper sammich. You know how to find us.

OK, you're a communist loser. I can see both sides of an issue.

Rudy Giulliani Just Called Upon
_BiB_ replied to Bill from NYC's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Liberals can't be liberals if they have no place to be liberal in. We are at war. First things first. Once that minor nuisance is taken care of, they can then go back to important stuff like Gay Marriage and making sure there are no Nativity scenes on display at Christmas. -
Since it's been brought up, I was looking at the red-blue map. I understand that things are based on population density, but look how regional. Populations clustered together tend to have a similar political outlook, as they are much more in the same boat. Either Dem or Rep, I just don't feel comfortable with the regional thing. I don't think things reflect what the country as a whole really feels. Whenever a democrat gets elected, it's because of the population densities of NY and CA. should NY and CA determine what's best for the rest of the country? No good answer here, that I can see.

People will want to say that the administration held off so things wouldn't look bad for the election. The reality is, there are strategies that once implemented, can't or shouldn't be stopped and changed in mid-stream. A new administration might or probably would. Everyone knew this election was going to close. Hence, there are probably some things on the back burner waiting for today. What do I feel? I think the gloves come off.

Kudos and congrats to george bush

I would never have expected less from KTFABD. -
No time to debate now, I'll get back to it. In the meantime, if you can, look up the goals of Al Quaida, and think about the Crusade part.

Not giving everyone everything they want is not a war on them. As many Gays and supporters that want "Marriage" rights, there are a lot of people to whom that is very against their values. What war on women? There is no war on non-Christians, that's blather. This country exhibits more religious tolerance than any in the world. We are trying to kill people who are using a WARPED sense of their own religion to kill us. Yes, this country has gotten dumber, I'll be the first to agree. But I put the blame on anyone who won't go past the 2 minute soundbite on the news to get their information and outlook. OH! Survivor's on! Is our biggest enemy.

How this country can re-elect Bush
