think they're gonna clean the road in their hoods and robes and stuff? I wonder how many would get hit by cars (not enough). -
I agree that it was a solid post. Last night I was just thinking about how Drew is fine most of the time but he'll just never be able to consistently beat good defenses. They eat him up, and unfortunately for us, you have to face no less than 2 on the way to the super bowl usually. So, let the competition begin.

would you like Mike Vanderjagt as Bills Kicker
ROCCEO replied to millbank's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I argue that he is only a mediocre kicker. He kicks in a dome, that really says it all. Also, he doesn't have to kick many high pressure kicks for the colts since theyre usually up by 20+ points. Ol' mikey boy is better than SINdell though, so I would take him I guess. -
What teams will be in the market for OTs?

I concur, especially if you look at how guards have been drafted in the last few drafts, Steinbach was one of the best guard prospects in a while but he didnt go until the 1st pick of the 2nd round in '03. Plus, Michigan lineman have a very good track record of success in the pros(Hutchinson, Jon Janson, Jeff Backus, Maurice Williams, Jon Runyan etc.)

You forget Corey Simon, who is more of an upfield pass-rushing DT, which are the kind that usually make the big bank. However, I'm sure fat pat will have some offers come his way as well. Plus, DT is usually a position where there are some cuts. Teams tend to give big bonuses to lineman and subsequently backload their contracts heavily, plus, since many times a lineman's performance is so hard to gauge, they often are many of the first cap casualites. -

Good call, there'll be plenty of cap casualties and theres no telling exactly who it'll be just yet. SOmetimes teams make strange choices in terms of the players they decide to keep. -
Everyone on the Minnesota Vikings wagon
ROCCEO replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Go Vikings, they have one of the best/most exciting QBs in the game, the best WR in the game. Also, a very good developing young WR(burleson), and a hoarde of exciting running backs. ALso: former bills o' plenty(although im still a little pissed at winfield, but i dont think we're gonna miss him much at all next year). Ted Cottrell too. Not to mention the Mike Tice factor: I ahte the guy and think he's a buffoon, but damn, he makes for some good entertainment. -

OK, here are the guys I htink are worth looking at in the FA period(realistically, so I will not include anyone like Antonio Gates or Orlando Pace). Guys who would be significant upgrades are listed in bold. OG: Joe Andruzzi Rick Demulling Marco Rivera DEFINATELY NOT RON STONE (he's like ruben brown II) Jermaine Mayberry David Dixon OT(If Jonas leaves etc etc.): Kareem McKenzie Ryan Diem Bob Whitfield Langston Walker Stockar McDougle Floyd "pork chop" Womack(who can play Guard too) Victor Riley TE: Bubba Franks(the guy can maul in the run game & is a major red zone threat, although not a gates/gonzalez type) Jermaine Wiggins Freddie Jones(older guy who catches passes, but not much else) Cam Cleeland(injury risk is real high, but he's got hands and would add depth) Itulla Milii(consistent performer) Ken Dilger WR(realistic 3rd wideout options only): Travis Taylor TJ Houshmandzadeh Corey Bradford Tai Streets Curtis Conway(maybe a little too old at this point though) Charles Lee Bill Shroeder(maybe he could resurrect his role as token white guy 3rd reciever here) 2nd RB: Dominic Rhodes Garrison Hearst A-Train(pipe dream since he'll probobly land a starting job somewhere) Eddie George(just to come in and pound in short yardage and to wear down D's while WIllis rests) Correll Buckhalter Dorsey Levens DE(for people who think Kelsay won't cut it, although I argue that he will be just fine): Shaun Ellis(although I think he already signed an extension) John Abraham(he'd want way too much $$$ anyhow) Carlos Hall *Restricted FA*(fantastic situational guy who will never be a good every down lineman) Alex Brown*RFA* Darren Howard DT(we better keep fat pat because FA looks pretty thin at DT): Corey Simon(too much $$$$) CHris Hovan(probobly teh only viable fat pat replacement, but hes a different type of DT anyhow). CB(for depth): Gary Baxter(probobly will start somewhere) Terrell Buckley(always an AFC east training camp invite somewhere) Anthony Henry Nick Harper Charles Woodson(for all you pie-in-the-sky idiots) Ken Lucas(will start somewhere) -
How much is Moulds worth to the Bills in cap hit?
ROCCEO replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think any restructring which reduces his cap number this year by about 3 million would be adequate. So if moulds can live with having a cap number this year of about 5 million, that'd be fine. WE could take care of moulds now and avoid shooting ourselves in the foot later. If we brought him down too far now it would only result in a larger hit later on. So I say pay moulds well while we can and he's sitll good. Anyhow, my reasoning for this is that most of the time 3 million dollars is enough for the first year of the type of contract which a solid free agent acquisition woudl get. Our team doesn't need to fill that many holes this year via free agency so it doesnt need to be an ungodly low number. Either way the contract will almost definately be backloaded(like 99% of all NFL contracts) so that moulds will likely have to restructure again at some point. No need for anyone to get their panties in a bunch, but thats jsut teh reality of the salary cap era. but thats just my opinion -
WEll, as for getting number ones, i think that only Price and Galloway have done that, and I believe galloway may have even held out for an extended period of time to get it to happen. It does work though, and it doesn't always have to be for a first rounder. Recall a few years ago the Pats franchised underperforming malcontent Tebucky Jones, he was then promptly traded to the saints for a 2nd rounder. So it does happen. There may be other examples but i cannot directly think of any right now.

seriously that 40 year old tittie was among the biggest letdowns of all time.

Hypothetically, if the Bills cut Travis, how much
ROCCEO replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you guys are nuts, I bet he could pull at least an average of 2.5 mil per season if a team gave him a 3 year or more deal. Someone will pay travis more than a million per season. He is a better back than that, Willis just happens to be so much better than Travis that we are blinded to teh fact that he still put out almost 3500 yards as a bill. -

Mike Williams should have made Jennings
ROCCEO replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Willie Anderson I believe was a top 10 or top 15 RT pick. He's been worth every penny. PAY THE OFFENSIVE LINE, so what if they're a litlte overpaid. It's far better to have a dominant line than anything else. A team cannot conduct a season with only half of a decent starting line. And while we're at it, noone is going to pay JJ Pace/Jones money: AINT GONNA HAPPEN. THe best JJ could probobly do is to get a Todd Wade-esque contract or maybe even a John Tait-like contract, but nothing in the JOnes/Pace viscinity. -
I concur, Hoculi always alls a good game, he doesn't cater to the home eam and his explainations are always the best. Plus, Ed could probobly lay the smack down.
-
Screw how a guy plays during the season, it's how he looks on the first day of camp that really matters.

Do you recall back in 2001 when feeley hit like a 50 yarder to beat us. HORRIBLE. I hate that tool almost as much as SINdell.

Can we please agree to stop decieving ourselves
ROCCEO replied to ROCCEO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
well you need like 15 mil just to do it, and like 20 mil to sign anyone else in addition. If the chargers do it, expect either a lng term deal before free agency starts or a swift trade at the beginning of the FA period. -

Did you read the espn magazine story on jones this year about how thats just how they do it in seattle. Ive also heard that teh seahawks are likely to let alexander walk. As for hasselbeck: no word yet, but it's cap suicide to franchise a QB. And if htey did hit the market, we wouldn't sign them. Look for good ol Danny Boy in DC to take care of that. Speaking of DC, there is speculation that CHris Samuels may be let go I believe. I've read several times that hes been noted as "underperforming" or that Danny doesn't liek him. -
