Ill believe that one when I see it. There is only one circumstance where that contract would be correct. That would be if it is essentially a one year deal for a couple million with a mil or so guaranteed and then a big option bonus next year. BECAUSE....if the bills were going to sign a RB to that type of contract there were bigger names to pursue than Chris Brown. Also, brown would've jumped at half of that offer about a week ago if the bills made it. As far as any CHris Brown stories go(not the reporter, the RB), my new policy is: No Links, Likely Stinks

Why not Trade Up for Adrian Peterson?
ROCCEO replied to DoctorSooner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The contract would be right in the ballpark of what mcgahee got, maybe a tad more. THe first pick in the draft(usually a qb, so that increases it a bit) will likely get about a 7 year 60 million dollar contract, with about 20 million or so guaranteed. So assuming AP goes third, then he's looking at around 18-20 mil guaranteed. As for why not trade up for him? Simple, hes not worth it. Think about what it really should take for a back to go top 10, usually extreme dominance at the college level. While AP was very good in college, one would hesitate to call him dominant. Ricky Williams was dominant, Reggie Bush was dominant, Cadillac was dominant. Peterson was very good but moreso he shows the skill set of a dominant player, that is, he has all the measurables. That said, hes more like a Ronnie Brown-type prospect. I cant remember a RB coming out of college with the same circumstances as AP who was pretty much a guaranteed top 10 pick. -
Who is the best bill you ever met?
ROCCEO replied to Yasin's BILLS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mrs Flutie, is that you posting on teh board again? I actually didnt act like a big annoying fan or anything, I just kinda said hi and moved along my way. You see, theres a type of social contract that these players agree to when they sign and that would read something like this, "We all watch you on tv and buy NFL stuff, they reward your ass with a big paycheck and in exchange for this fame and fortune you are supposed to act like a human being when approached by fans in a friendly manner" Also, I heard terrance mcgee is cool too. I met him briefly last year at camp, seemed kinda quiet and humble. My girlfriend was on a plane to Texas with him about 2 months ago and she said he was very nice, that she dropped his bag by accident when taking it out of the overhead and he was very nice about everything. She also said that after he got out of baggage claim there was some fat white woman picking him up at the airport. -
Well, when Bruce went down with his 'great toe' injury a few years ago Curtis filled in admirably, I believe even scoring the game winning touchdown in one game. And as far as desire to play in a warm weather climate, I think that a few million dollars will make even the chilliest city feel warm.

Kinda like a duke preston-level steal Even though he might've been instrumental for the Irish in short yardage situations I have a hard time seeing a guy that size duplicate it at the pro level.

OK, how does everybody just know for sure.....

I think its all just speculation. Great point about Jackson, although he was the top rated back in that draft(although some had Kevin JOnes and Chris Perry up there) and just happenned to fall into the 20s. From what I can tell Michael Bush is very similar to SJ, big guy with good feet who can pound it or bust it out, and great hands. As far as Im concerned the bills just need to draft a back, any back as long as he can run it doesnt matter if hes 195 or 255. Effective runners come in many forms. -
Bills | Team shows interest in Curtis Sun, 11 Mar 2007 09:33:46 -0800 Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports the Buffalo Bills have expressed interest in unrestricted free-agent Kevin Curtis (Rams), but Curtis would prefer not to any make more trips at this point. He has told his new agents, Bruce and Ryan Tollner, that his main objectives are playing for a playoff contender, preferably in a warm-weather city, and to be a starter. I love Curtis, hes a very good reciever with more skills than he gets credit for, if we signed him though hed have to race Moorman for the title of 'fastest white guy on the team. Also, we already have enough small fast recievers, Im of the opinion that we need a west coast style possesion reciever, even though the fairchild offense never had one in Stl, maybe I just play too much madden.....

I only met Doug Flutie, but he was a douche bag. -
Would you want Ricky Williams in a bills uniform?
ROCCEO replied to freester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True, even after he screwed them so royally it was incredible how many players publicly came out and said they would be glad to welcome him back. Its never gonna happen though, but I would be highly in favor of the incentive-laden plan. That would be a problem if he signed with us, winter activities in Buffalo are pretty limited and can lead one to fall back on one's vices pretty quickly. Now pass that sh--!!! -
Lions still looking to deal Tatum Bell?
ROCCEO replied to JStranger76's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dont forget Jones-Drew/Taylor in for Jax, Barber III/Jones for Dallas, whatever the hell that Jets RB thing was last year, Dunn/Norwood for ATL, McAllister/Bush. The trend is definately to have a 2 back system in place, which is a great idea for so many reasons that I will not even get into. As for great white hopes, anyone recall Luke Staley? That being said, I think that Leonard is a different breed entirely. I love him as a prospect but even I will admit that his tweener factor is as scary-high as Ricky Williams on april 20th. -
Good point about Bettis, I meant to but forgot to bring him up in my post. Definately teh most elusive big man I can remember ever seeing run the ball. Even at the end of his career he had some of the best feet in the game. That being said, i miss watching the bus run on sundays. Also, good point about Bush around the goalline, he had something like 21 TDs his jr year.
-
Dont be surprised if the Falcons make a play for Bush though as Warrick DUnn is getting a little long in the tooth and norwood is more of a change of pace back. Like most guys who go from collge to the pros im sure Petrino would love to bring in some of his former star pupils. Im not really sure where ATL is picking though.

I love this draft. 3 of those guys are the 3 guys I want the bills to target with their first 3 picks(whether they have to trade to get it etc. DO IT!!) However, if we take Willis, which at this point i would love, then I dont see us taking an OLB in the 3rd. Ellison and Spikes is a fine platoon and our backups are fine role players. Id like to see us pick a WR/FB/DT/TE/G instead of an extra LB. I like hughes at corner though, sounds like a real stud for our D. Also, a 4.6 second fourty wouldnt indicate anything regarding elusiveness, for that you would want to see how he did on the 3-cone drill which is a better measurement of a player's agility. That and the short shuttle which measures quickness in and out of breaks. Im not even sure if Bush has officially run a 40 yet bc of his leg injury(which once healed should not be an issue). 4.6 really isnt a big deal, over 40 yards it amounts to about 2.5 feet behind a guy running a 4.4. Also, this would be without pads. I once asked John Guy about 40 times and he said that they are largely overinflated by the media and its what the scouts see on film that they grade. He also said if a guy runs like a 4.9 or 4.3 then you may have to look a little closer. Personally I love Michael Bush, i think hes the perfect back for our system. The guy would easily have been a first round pick if it werent for his injury. GO BILLS!

No need to use our 1st rd pick on a RB...
ROCCEO replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Last year in my fantasy league a buddy of mine had Julius Jones, Kevin Jones and Thomas Jones(honestly, you cant make this stuff up) In related news he was unable to trade for Maurice Jones-Drew, and neglected to pick up Matt Jones, PacMan Jones or retired TE Freddie Jones. I told him theres always next year..... -
So is Reggie Bush
-
Thanks but no thanks, if the bills pick him in the 2nd over any of Bush, Irons or Hunt then we are in trouble. One of my friends is the biggest ND fan you'll ever meet. Anyhow, he's surprised that people are saying walker is even gonna get drafted. let alone in the 2nd-4th round.

If theres a trade: finish your beer.

Lions still looking to deal Tatum Bell?
ROCCEO replied to JStranger76's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we could deal our 6th round pick to detroit, or next years 4th rounder, something like that, I think picking up tatum bell could be good. The guy is not and likely will not ever be an every down back. He excels as a change of pace guy. I also know for a fact that the coaching staff likes the way he runs because I had the opportunity to talk some of the people who evaluate RB talent for the Bills and they essentially told me so, they also said that last year watching tape for that draft, that Jerious Norwood reminded them exactly of tatum bell. -
I think that the idea is you get picks if you dont sign guys at the same position, i dont think it matters if you sign guys at other positions.

With The 12th Pick The Buffalo Bills Select?
ROCCEO replied to Yasin's BILLS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Willis I think, unless Okoye or Branch is the pick. -
I am definatley going to miss Nate during Dolphins games

When the clock expires for the Vikings everyone must drink until a pick is made by ANY team.

I met him once too, total douche bag. this thread made me remember how much I hated Chris Watson and Lonnie Johnson. There were others though, like eddie robinson, which would be one of my least favorite acquisitions of all time. "He'll be like a coach on the field!"

LB thread.....For Defensive Geniuses
ROCCEO replied to Gotta Dream's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hes right, a dominant defensive line is mandatory for success with the cover 2. -
The difference between extending JP now anda year from now If he continues to be successfull could be upwards of eight guaranteed figures.
