That'll happen when me sh-- turns purple and tastes like rainbow sherbet!

Congratulations, you've been found guilty of buying into the hype. A 2nd for turner woudl be a fair deal, a third would be a great deal for us. Each of those 3 backs you mentioned is COMPLETELY unproven at the NFL level. Turner has proven what he can do in limited duty. Hes about 6' tall and listed at 237. That would give him tony hunt size, but hes got irons' skills. Plus, its better that hes a backup. THe idea is to pick up a RB with minimal mileage on him. Turner certainly hasnt been overworked. Will he respond well to being, 'the guy'? Cant say for sure, could be the next LaMont Jordan, but I think its doubtfull. Since he is a RFA Id bet he wouldnt want anything more than the standard feature back price of about 23 mill for 5 years that ahman green got. I think hes worth it, hes definately better than green at this juncture. Positives: Proven commodity without sacrificing a first round pick. Negatives: Allows us less mobility in the draft. That being said, a draft day trade would be the preferable way to pull this off.

We should have bigger worries than that.

ok, so in the scenario where we take Puz, him and crowell plays OLB and who mans the inside?? Ellison?? I dont think so. Also, no team in their right mind would trade out of the first for an aging player coming off of injury and two third round picks. Think about it, if your team just came off a playoff run(as a team late in the first would be), youd probobly feel ok about trading out of the round into the early 2nd to pick up a couple picks but to end up in the 3rd with nothing else to show for it this year, pick-wise, itd be proffesional suicide for a GM. I think our best shot of making 2 first round picks this year occurs only if 1-theres some unbelievable talent marv wants to grab or 2-we trade down to between 16 and 20 and then trade back up with some of our extra picks. Draft day is unpredictable. Its about 40 days away and the bills probobly dont even know who they are going to pick until within a few picks of their own. I dont know why i spend so much time on here debating this nonsense, I must be mentally ill.

I noticed this too, it made me think of a few years ago when I was in college at UB. First, the student section is sponsored by mighty taco and are known as teh "mighty maniacs" which is admittedly stupid. There was a also a subsection of fans whose name I cannot recall but it basically boiled down to the 'mark bortz fan club'. Post of the day....mark it 8

Patrick Willis and trade back into the 1st for Michael Bush.

I see irons listed as 5'10 and 203 lbs, hardly a bruiser. Theres only been one back in the past 5 years who I can remember with those dimensions and similar scouting report who turned into a top-15 guy. That guy is Clinton Portis, who was about 205 when he came out of miami but has since bulked up to around 220. Portis ran around a 4.45 I believe. Somehow everyone in the NFL besides Mike Shanahan thought that he was strictly a change of pace guy. Don't get me wrong, I dont dislike irons, but in the 2nd round, its just as risky IMO as drafting Bush. Auburn RBs do have good pedigree though, we all know about Caddy(who had a similar scouting report but was better between the tackles and weighed about 210) and Ronnie Brown, but the guy who backed them up was Brandon Jacobs, who then transferred to Southern Illinois(i think). The other thing with Irons is that since 03, where no top RBs ran faster than 4.5, 40 times have been markedly faster. Btw, way to go calling puz a clown, its nice to see im not the only person on this board without a man-crush for the guy. Yeah, that thurman thomas guy sure was disappointing. -

That was six years ago. As far as the colts, I think getting Bob Sanders back for them was huge both on the field and emotionally. Other than that I would say they just got very hot at the right time. -

Very strange. The night before the draft last year I had a dream that the bills picked some guy noone had ever heard of. It wasnt whitner, it was a big guy, like a lineman. It always seemed very odd to me. -
Marv showed that character and chemistry are important

You make a very good point. Cover 2 defenses are predicated on speed, just look at Chicago, Tampa or Indy. They all have that in common. Often they take speedy players at the cost of large players, but it seems to be working out for them. Here I am going to point out how much I hate the phrase "stopping the run with numbers" and move on to my next point. TD routinely ignored speed when drafting players. Sure, there were exceptions(lee, roscoe), but often his drafts were perplexing(Duke Preston, Tim Anderson to name a few). Speed is not everything but its a good starting point especially when teamed with good character. As far as hall being on buffalos radar, I dont want us to pick him, but if we do Im confident hes gonna be a player. Why? Because Big 10(and most specifically Michigan and for the most part OSU ) CBs almost never bust. In most years getting the unanimously rated number 1 corner at pick 12 is considered a steal. Also, hall is not a glitzy glamour boy CB pick like Champ Bailey, Terrence Newman, DeAngelo Hall, PacMan Jones, so people tend to shy away from it. Ill take a big ol michigan corner any day(woodson/ty law) over somebody who likes to "make it rain". Having said that, if one were to refer to my other posts they will clearly see I am not in favor of drafting Hall at 12 because I feel we have more pressing needs, but if we do I feel as though we've obtained a solid player. Agreed. -

Reagor is clearly not the answer for us. I say this not as a measure of his individual play but moreso because I wastched the colts many many times last year and their ability to stop the run was spotty at best. Some have even called it downright embarassing. Well, we've can do embarassing but I think its time to branch out to terms like "improving" and maybe even "respectable". Barlow would be good only if Atrain beats him for the starting job but theres still a sense that barlow could earn it. That is the only situation under which he performs well. Corey Dillon is probobly a better fit for us than Barlow is. Although I appreciate the info, its encouraging to hear that we are still talking to UFAs. David Pattion: garbage, but something tells me that if hes cut that he'll end up back in a pats uni by the end of the year. Mark it 8. -

That Penn State linebacking hype-machine (maybe only on this board) will probobly still be there when we pick in teh 2nd round. Mark it 8. As for Michael Bush, far better than Ron Dayne. Kenny Irons? Lets get an undersized guy with marginal speed whos short on brains...no thanks, Ill pass. Sign me up for the Willis, Bush, Leonard draft, or Willis Bush Hughes(or other CB). Or Okoye, Penn St LB, CB/RB. Any of those or similar combinations. -
Thank you sir may I have another?

Ok, so you're saying theres nothing wrong with Michael Vick but Donte Stallworth is overrated? Is your name Ron Mexico by any chance?
-
If we dont draft a corner and Youboty starts and ends up working out, Marv will look like a genius. Youboty moving into a starting role only would mean that we have one less hole to fill. I doubt he starts on opening day as they will probobly have KT start until Ashton proves hes ready. Hopefully we can survive a couple games like that.

There was a time when stevestojan wouldve made the list.

disclaimer: I am not a lynch supporter, I am lynch-neutral That being said: JJ arrington is about the same size as Ken Simonton, unfortunately for Simonton, no idiot coaches fell in love with him and wasted a 2nd round draft pick. Lynch is about 4 inches taller and 20-30 lbs heavier. Although beware of the Pac10.
-
the 3 I would add would be: Derrick Brooks, Derrick Thomas and Bennett

Im just gonna go with guys Ive seen in my lifetime: In no particular order I've got: 1-Joe Montana 2-Brett Favre 3-John Elway 4-Jim Kelly 5-Steve Young 6-Dan Marino(I hate that MFer though) 7-Peyton Manning 8-Steve McNair 9-Tom Brady 10-Donovan McNabb I started watching football right around the bills first super bowl run, so obviously I missed out on guys like Dan Fouts, Tarkenton, Unitas etc. Also Im sure I forgot someone who Id rather have than McNair. I left off Aikman because I cant stand him and view him as grossly overrated.

Ignoring rice's greatness only proves one to be a fool

Thatll work great actually....as long as our new line is decent. Im not too worried. Id be less worried if we had an accomplished #2 TE, but we do have a very good QB and above average recievers(thank god for lee)

I think that he is only bound to the saints if he signs the tender. Currently the saints merely hold the right of first refusal or the option of taking compensation.

a veteran fullback. Seems like the bills have made no effort to sign anybody whos been out there. Ovie got too much from ATL but Justin Griffith's contract wasnt that bad. If we're going to run the A-train itd be ideal to have a mashing FB. Either we are going to use Cieslak at FB, draft one or run a lot of singleback next year(which wouldnt be bad if we had a cutback runner on our roster). Thats just how it seems to me RIGHT NOW.
