OK i will preface this post by admitting that im probably wearing red white and blue tinted glasses. But I'm starting to get a really good vibe from this group. No matter what the record, I am very impressed that the Bills seemingly improved every time they took the field for each preseason game. Whether it be turnovers, penalties, defense, or offense. The key to winning in the NFL is to recognize and eliminate the mistakes you made the week before. This is something that we NEVER saw from MM or GW in the preseason or the regular season. The Bills first units are in such good rhythms right now that I really think they can carry it over into foxboro on Sunday. If the Bills come out firing, all the pressure will shift over to NE if they fall behind early and the fans get restless. Maybe its foolish optimism, but I think the Bills have a strong chance at knocking off NE in week 1 and making a strong early season statement to the rest of the league. Flame away ;=)

JP Losman trade looking better and better
HudsonValleyBillsFan replied to donahoeisgod's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry .. didnt mean to sound like a donahoe backer. I was thrilled when he was fired. I was just trying to say that just because he may have a good trade, that doesn't make him a good gm. He needed to get booted for so many reasons that have been beaten to death on this board. But ill give credit where its due. He drafted willis amidst controversy. Drafted a. schoebel, lee evans, and traded for spikes. He definitely made a lot of bad moves too, but every gm does. Donahoe certainly knows what he is doing to a certain extent but his failure at knowing when to give up on someone, how to hire a coach, and how to negotiate a tough media are more things that earned him a ticket out of town rather than an inabilty to spot good talent. Even if JP turns out to be the next t. brady, donahoe still deserved to be fired. p.s. melissa stark is hot! -
JP Losman trade looking better and better

Personally, I never doubted TD's ability to gauge talent and make good personnel moves from time to time. There are so many other aspects of his game that led to his downfall besides that. -

One word can effective answer this post: OFFSEASON -
I could go on and on about colin cowherd but there just isn't enough bandwith on the internet ;=) You guys have hit on most of the points about his mean-spirited nature and how he just likes to generate controversy making a cheap jim rome knockoff. At least Rome is funny and Rome is very good. He knows his stuff, makes good points and overdoes it at times with repeating himself and the amount of time he spends talking about himself. I have to turn the channel away from Rome because of how annoying he can be. Cowherd does all these things yet doesnt have 1/10 the skill of Rome. I sat there one day and just paid attention to the amount of time he donates just talking about himself and how much of a bada$$ he thinks he is. Every time he crticizes ESPN, he makes himself out to be this renegade talk show host. But when dan patrick criticizes espn, he just talks about the issue and not himself. Like say, the rush limbaugh firing. Colin goes off on a 10-minute rant about how he is only show on radio who will tell the truth. And sometimes he'll get so into that line of talking that he'll forget what the original issue was. DP will just talk about issues and for the most part not about how the show handles it. It's like 75% of the colin's show is about colin's show. About how he is not afraid to do this, not afriad to do that, he'll say this and he'll say that when others won't. That is my biggest gripe about the show. If i wanted to listen to someone talk about themselves for 3 hours, I'll call my parents. The show should be renamed "Colin Cowherd on Colin Cowherd" Any other suggestions?

I agree 100%. But MDH you are missing the point. I have absolutely no problem with people picking against the bills. What i do have a problem with is when they don't give credible reasons for why they will suck. Like i said before. If you are going to criticized the whitner pick, at least have the decency to know the guys name and explain to me why exactly it was a bad pick. He just said marv was old and that he made a controversial 1st round draft pick. That is why i was asking if anyone had heard the entire thing and knew if they gave any more credible information to back up their selections. E. James and mcnabb were controversial 1st round picks. As was w. mcgahee whom greeny praised two sentences earlier before blindly criticzing the whitner pick! I just hate it when people pick the bills to suck because its the "fashionable" thing to do. That way, you can be lazy and dont have to do any research. -

Exactly. I mean at least if you are going to criticize a draft pick then mention the dude's name and why you think it was a bad pick other than the fact that it was controversial. -
I only caught the tail end of their bills two a day. I heard them say that the defense should be a little better, mcgahee could have a big season, but JP is still a huge question mark. Did anyone hear the entire thing? Anyways Greenburgh, who obviously doesnt have a stitch of credibility, thinks buffalo will go 4-12. Golic thinks 5-11. Greenburgh sounded very ignorant when his he claimed his primary reason for saying the bills would only have 4 wins is that marv levy is old and that a lot of eyebrows were raised when he drafted in the first round. He didn't even say donte whitner's name. I dunno how whitner will be this season. I happen to think he is going to a pro bowler (eventually) and was exactly what the doctor ordered for the bills season this year. But greeny didn't even know the guys namehe just knew that it was a controversial pick. He is just a hopeless moron. Golic didn't seem to know much about the team either. So I really dont put a whole lot of stock into what these guys have to say because it doesnt seem like they really bothered to their homework. It would be one thing if they really came out with strong reason for their opinions but these guys rarely ever do that. I think the bills will at least be 2 wins better than last year. But if they do go 4-12, at least we will have a good draft pick ;=)

I am watching the Bills on NFL Network

Thank you nik .. i was just still doing research on the whole thing. But I really appreciate the help Sorry for being impolite -
I guess. But that didn't seem to have any effect on OJ's legacy up until he sliced and diced a couple of people. Jim Kelly seemed to have the media's respect as does B. Smith. I feel Reed was also underrated. But I really think that Thomas' surly personality while he played has not helped his legacy. Plus .. he lost his helmet in the super bowl
-
OK here is my solution .. we can go back to the 92' season .. take 374 yards away from his rushing total and add it on to his receiving total .. and bam ... we have a 1000/1000 guy. Think the elias sports bureau would have a problem with doing this?? All kidding aside.. I hope our emails, if nothing else, would go towards changing the thinking of thurman's legacy. I always wonder why he doesn't get the credit he deserves. Is it because he lost his helmet in the super bowl? His alcohol problems? His problems with the media? I wish they would portray him in a more positive light
-
Both MM and GW were put in impossible spots. But GW has more than redeemed himself in washington and unfortunately I'll expect MM to do the same in Miami. I definitely think TD was the bad apple. I like what i have seen thus far from levy and jauron. Now let's hope they win some games!!

I like Marshall Faulk as a player and a person. However, during an interview on mike and mike this morning greenburgh basically said that faulk was so influential for being the first running back to also be a good receiver and be a blocker. He opened the door for players like e. james and l. thomlinson. Please help me remind greenburgh that thurman was a 1000/1000 yard guy before faulk even came into the league!!!! It is ommissions like this that will help keep thurman out of the hall when he deserves to be there. Please email him: http://espnradio.espn.go.com/espnradio/story?storyId=1113601

I agree that he is being a little overly negative. But sal has as much right to his opinion as you do yours, no matter where he reports from. Hopefully they prove him wrong but its tough to say that his points are completely out of wack. As a reporter you are dammed either way .. you'll be branded as a homer if you say good things .. and a traitor if u say bad things. He is not part of the Bills PR staff and should call it as he sees it.

ESPN PTI backs Marv and the draft

Mort and Tom Donahoe have signed on to star in Brokeback Mountain 2. Mort wouldn't have liked the Bills picks no matter what they were. -
We all know how the media likes to gratify themselves and come off as experts to say that there are certain that teams had a good or bad draft. I remember a group of experts who said the Colts would regret passing on Ryan Leaf... LOL And a lot of experts thought dwight freeney was too small to make an impact. Supposedly Mike Williams was a great pick. I like the philosophy of putting a higher grade on players due to character. I'm not saying the Bills had the best draft in the league. I am saying we should all step back ; take a deep breath ; and wait to see how these things play out over time. Yes, everyone is making fun of the Bills draft today. And they may be right. And Marv Levy is old, but he knows his football and I won't judge him until we see these guys play. Too many people get caught up in "value". Should we have traded down and taken a player that our GM didn't beleive in because he was worried about bad press? Marv Levy got the guy he wanted because he beleives Whitner to be the best fit for our team, regardless of his "value" which is a fake term that is banged into our heads by reporters and NFL gms looking to spread misinformation. The truth is we don't know if Whitner and McCargo were going to be picked in those spots anyways. The Bills draft raised my eyebrows but I respect Marv for sticking to his guns and I'll reserve judgement and assess these guys value in a couple years.

Anyone watching the lovefest tonight they are having for Hines Ward? Nothing against HW, great player, class act but jeez they are just going on and on about this guy like they are his agents.
