Virginians better keep their pants up
Bear replied to millbank's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It's a good thing we have so many people currently fighting for our "freedoms". Give me a break. -
I just thank God he was able to sign a contract with us that allows him to have a vehicle to get groceries home to his family.

How would we have fared against the Eagles?
Bear replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unlike most, I dish out pretty equal blame to both the OL and Bledsoe. Looking at just last year, I think if we had had a better QB, we would have made the playoffs, but still lost out due to a poor OL. At the same time, if we had a better OL, I don't think Drew would have gotten us much further than he did this year. -

The Defense could have at least made it respectable, but there is no way our line and Bledsoe could have handled Jimmy Johnsons' blitz schemes. INT's and sacks would have killed us. When this team figures out a way to overcome blitz schemes, we will be contenders. Until that happens, we will have the most talented losers in the league. -
Anheuser Busch, "Honoring Our Troops"

Nah, it would only be shamless self promotion if they advertised it, which of course they would. -

No, he's right. -
This is so pathetic it sickens me. Ethics is such a lost quality.

I don't know about all that. Having the market set is one thing, but trying to set your own market is another. I don't remember the numbers anymore, but St. Loius tried offering Pace a contract that would have made him the highest paid LT in the league, and the highest paid player on his team. He turned it down. I don't remember hearing much about Jones' contract negotiations, but I know Pace is asking for WAY too damn much money. Those kinds of contracts kill a team, and I wouldn't want any part of a player that demands that much. There is no way one player can make up for that much lost salary cap space, no matter what position they play.

I had FOX on when that show started. As soon as I realized that all those Aholes were going to be talking about their past SB glory, I turned the station. The Bills really need to win a SB. This crap kills me.

When the hell did Shelton become a top ten LT? When he went on the trading block? He's a solid LT who despite a few very recent injuries will get a look from plenty of teams, but over-valuing him isn't being any more "realistic" than anyone else in this thread. Considering Shelton was replaced last year and is now expendable, I think Henry is a pretty even trade. Remember, before this year Henry WAS top ten at his position (in terms of yards and TD's anyway) before he was replaced by a younger guy with more upside after getting injured. Oh yeah, and he's signed to a cap friendly contract. Sounds kind of familiar.

Poor Bastards.

IMO this is the perfect move to make with Travis. It just seems to perfectly fit everyones needs. Shelton isn't a dominating Tackle, but we can't afford one anyway. With McNally's help and a good pickup at LG we could be one our way to having our first solid line in a long time.

Oh, those wacky baby sitters!

Only 19.95? I could use a babysitter... -
My gameplan for stopping New Englands offense is the same as it has always been....STOP TRYING TO BLITZ! I don't understand why everyone is always yelling to blitz more against that team. THERE IS A REASON THEY COMPLETE SO MANY PASSES INSIDE TEN YARDS!!! If there is one thing I give Brady a lot of credit for it's his quick reads. He sees the blitz and knows where to throw it. His recievers are also very good at adjusting routes and making catches in tight places. The only way to stop that D is by having enough talent in your secondary and LB core to stop the pass. Trying to hurry the pass only leaves less coverage on the recievers that are making their breaks by the time a pass rush can get to Brady. On Offense, I agree with everyone else. The game rests on McNabbs legs, and his ability to not get hurt when he gets popped by those LB's and safties. If Owens were playing at 100%, I would be much more willing to believe the Eagles could pull this game out. But, without him at full strength added to the fact that Jimmy Johnson loves his blitz schemes, I just don't think they have it. I'm still hoping though...

I used to love watching Conan, but latley I can't stand him. His whole show just seems so forced. I watched the other day and just though " I can't believe they are handing over the tonight show to this guy!" I agree about the talking mouth skits. They are the only good thing on his show. The old Bill Clinton ones were great, and the Arnold ones have had me in tears. Other than that though... Letterman is great, and I love his show. I voted for Jon Stewart though, and I really hope when Letterman decides to give it up they pick him up. He probably has the best delivery of any host out there. The Daily Show has some great writers too.

Anyone else find it wrong that Lindell is due to make only about $100,000 less than McGahee?
-
I don't get it. It's pretty much impossible to "steal the spotlight" from a Super Bowl. If anything, this took the spotlight OFF of him. If he had done this any other time, there would be nothing for a week on any sportstation other than Emmit Smith. Now, it's Super Bowl, Super Bowl, Super Bowl, and oh yeah....Emmit Smith.
-
My birthday too! Still sick of the same old ground hog jokes...
-
Damn....that one hurts.

Your favorite/most memorable Super Bowl??
Bear replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My first thought is Titans/Rams. It was great seeing them lose by 1 yard after that crap that happened to us. -
If the Bills had the #1 overall pick.....
Bear replied to d_wag's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No doubt in my mind...Mike Williams. We could afford to give him the time he needs to get his game back after being away for a year, and after that he is the future replacement for Moulds. Could you imagine Moulds, Evans and Williams? Add McGahee to that, and Losman would have no worries. -
Damn. Now we don't just have to resign Nate Clements next year....we have to resign pro bowler Nate Clements.

If ever there was a time for a friends reference... It's like a cow. It doesn't matter. It's moo.

Then obviously that was a bad pick. That drunk in Oakland went for a first....Nugent is better. Oh, and he can kick field goals, and kickoffs into the endzone.
