The Talley missed tackle, the Thurman fumble up 13-6, and the Beebe drops are all solid nominees. Does anyone get a sweeter deal than Beebe as far his performance vs. rep? The guy drops multiple TD's vs. the Skins and nobody cares because he ran down a fat clown the following year.

Nice to see a good game. Officiating I thought was slightly tainted towards the Steelers, but that happens. At least it wasn't so insanely 1-sided that it looked like the game was rigged while watching it, ie the Seattle SB.

I didn't realize AO was hurt that badly. WTF that's half our lineup. Should've bet the mortgage on Providence -2. All things considered it's not a terrible loss, though the cumulative effect of "3 L's in a row and 4 of 5" is going to be seen by some as a disaster. Hopefully AO & Rautins are back for the WVU game (sounds like they will be). If we drop that one at home, then I'm ok with hitting the panic button. -

Well can't even hold serve at home now; I guess we're officially a middle of the pack team in this conference. That sucks. The rebounding was of course abysmal again but in giving up less than 70pts we still had a chance to win in spite of that with a B level game offensively. Why our Guards insisted on penetrating and looking for contact I'll never know since it was obvious 5 minutes into the game those refs weren't going to call anything. It was a winnable game with less isolation, more ball movement and taking the decisive/open 3's when available. Sometimes I just don't know what Boeheim is doing on that bench. -
Movie or Television Series endings that sucked....

OMG I swear I thought of that show immediately before opening the thread. I thought it was ok that Kevin & Winnie didn't end up together, since ya know, that's life and she was kind of a b!tch to him anyway. The sad part was that his Dad supposedly died a couple years later. It definitely should've gone another season, in contrast to most shows that drag on too long. -
OUCH!!!! Kollar slaps Bills hard

Lane Kiffin didn't mention the Raiders by name in his press conference either (though his dig was a lot less subtle). I don't think it's an outrage and don't really care since he was the DL coach of a DL that sucked, but it's a pretty clear slam if you ask me. -
Not a bad summary. He also mentioned the Bears had to play at UofIllinois in DJ's "one really bad year" with Chicago which I thought was LOL-worthy considering he's only had one good year in his career in two places. I did think it was interesting that he singled out the WR position on offense.

He'd be a good guy an a jobber. -
I think the Steelers are one of the few teams where the scheme is actually almost as important as the players. Either that or they have an insane personnel department. The list of LB's they've let go is incredible, and they keep coming up with Harrison's & Woodley's every few years. Offensively they've obviously held together a strong running game for years. This year's team is a little different in that the OL sucks, and while Roethlisburger avoids sacks he also holds the ball too long at times. But they're making up for that weakness by having a defense that's "best since the 2000 Ravens" as opposed to merely "one of the best this year".

Cool, hopefully he's another Marvin Lewis.

Would you trade Lynch for Boldin?
BuffOrange replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Lynch and lol @ anybody that wouldn't do this. Elite WR >>> Good RB. -
Obviously 2008 stats = gosphel and Michael Turner is a top 2 back in the league. Last year TJ had 1 TD. He's better than his '07 stats sure, but also worse than '08's. That's mostly because Cedric Benson turned out to be Cedric Benson though. They won't miss a beat going forward with Forte.

The 2nd half I thought was officiated fine, which was when we got drilled. The 1st half was a little ridiculous, but with the way our bigs shoot FT's it's hard to complain too much. Also I have no idea how a HOF coach doesn't have his team prepared to execute a 2-for-1 when they get the ball with a minute left in the half. Instead they milk the clock and Devo walks for the 871st time with 5/34 on the shot/game clock. -

I usually don't have a great feeling when we're a 9 point underdog. That was depressing to watch though. The way we played tonight & @G'town there's no point in showing up @Uconn. Another big game vs. L'ville Sunday...somehow that's not a national tv game? -

Schaub isn't that bad. Him & AJ haven't been healthy at the same time enough the last couple years. But yah the Carr era sure didn't help his career. -

Jennings/Wayne/Welker above Calvin Johnson is insane after the year he had with the QB's he had. Otherwise I don't have a problem with that - Fitz, AJ, Smith, Moss, and Calvin are almost interchangeable to me. -
There are some good points in this thread. The football HOF is just a lot different than baseball in that it's much less statistically driven. Super Bowls matter. A lot. I don't think it should be that way but that's just how it is. We could argue forever about whether he deserves it for reasons mentioned. Realistically he got in today. 3 appearances with two teams, 1 win, 2 MVP's. Definitely an unusual career with a hole in the middle but his peaks are too high to ignore at such a crucial position; and of course he has the #'s to boot.

As someone who has always defended Schottenheimer, I don't really believe in "clutch coaching" myself. But it is a lot of hindsight to say the offense was solid. Their OL/RB combo was maybe the worst of all-time for a SB winner and Brad Johnson while solid, certainly wasn't the greatest QB to compensate for that. They were destroyed @Philly the two previous years.

Does this mean we can't make predictions? All of that's true of the '94 Chargers too who got mauled. -

I suspect you'll be in the majority. Cards will probly be a TD underdog. I'm not sure it's a terrible matchup for them though. These defenses thrive on making teams 1 dimensional but that's not a big deal for AZ anyway. -
Nantz is all over his blitz pick-ups too. He was always good at that even though he was crucified here for 1 missed block vs. the Jets that turned into a fumble return for 6.

We got ourselves a football game now, though I wish I had waited until the line moved to 6 instead of taking +5 early in the week. -

Their offense has been every bit as good as the Steelers all year. The Steelers defense is that good.
