NFL teams using Facebook to investigate draft prospects
BuffOrange replied to bills44's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know if it's shady or not, but employers everywhere are doing this now. -
I had no idea he was the Phills guy until moving here a few years ago. Of course I recognized the voice instantly from NFL films. Probably the closest there will ever be to John Facenda.
-
Sounds about right. If he doesn't have a ridiculous cap # I don't know why we're shopping him. His punt returning alone far exceeds the expected value of a 5th round pick.

Report: Lynch suspended three games

This thread makes my head hurt. I'm not sure what's worse - the outrage towards the league or the idea that we need to sign a RB. -

I really don't think Eminem and Harris would be missed that much. I don't get the idea that Eminem is a better all-around player than Rautins because he's a better penetrator: Rautins turns the ball over less, defends better, and rebounds better. Johnny come back - that's all I care about. Boeheim seems like the kind of guy that will shy away from high expectations. I prefer Calhoun's "bring it on" attitude. It would be pretty cool to win the Big East reg. season outright imo. We haven't done that since freaking 1991. -
She's no Julie Boeheim, that's for sure.

WrestleMania - the 25th Anniversary

Yah I thought they'd turn Cena heel a while ago but I guess he's super popular with the kids. You're right about Steamboat - he can still work. -
They sometimes don't care on defense and it helped that Oklahoma and Nova could not make a perimeter shot... But it really wouldn't have mattered - it's the best offensive team since probably UNLV. Lawson is insane; something like 3 turnovers the entire tournament.

I don't want to be the guy who says it ain't what it used to be because frankly, the 80's wasn't all it was cracked up to be imo with all the jobbers on the weekly shows. But the NWO and Attitude era of the mid-late 90's was good stuff... I can't tell if I'm just too old or if the talent isn't there or the booking sucks or what. Cena and Orton just don't do anything for me. Edge is pretty good on the mic and I think those skills could be utilized better. I wish they'd push Jericho more. -
Haha this is a pretty awesome rant but I hope it is just a frustration/venting thing. I hate Price because of his "kick out my leg theatrics to a draw a foul Reggie Miller style and then whine when there's no whistle" routine. But there is a lot of pressure on him offensively because they don't really have any place else to go when they need a basket. The Adrien charge was kinda weak but it came about 2 minutes after he flopped on the other end on basically the same play. I thought you guys had the best team pre Dyson injury....what can ya do.

My thought is that there's no such thing as wasting a 6th round pick, which is about where you can get a stiff equivalent to McMichael.

McDaniels trying to be a Bellichek Jr.
BuffOrange replied to Jeff Wright's Mullet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The idea that Favre's supporting cast was loaded is somewhat a product of the good results. How many people even remember that his best WR - Robert Brooks - got hurt in '96? And that wasn't long after Sterling Sharpe's career ended. -
Who is Cutler going to throw the ball to???
BuffOrange replied to BWRiley585's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know if that's true, but I guess it's possible that Moulds/Evans with no QB for so long gives me a tainted picture... Still if you want to talk bust rates DLmen are up there with anybody too. A game manager ain't gonna get it done with that defense. -

I bet they find somebody for him to throw to before Denver finds somebody to throw to Marshall. -

The "draft picks are crucial" line of thought has become like the "run and stop the run" cliche. There is obviously some truth to it - a lot of truth to it - but when made as blanket statements its meaning is severely diminished. Draft picks are important, but a 25yr old franchise QB is more important. That is why they're never traded. It is somewhat humerous that many of the same draft-pick nuts are the same people with the microwave-mentality that there's nobody to throw to in Chicago. They have some good pieces in place with Forte and Olsen. It is not inconceivable that they could develop or sign a legit #1 WR by the time any of Denver's draft picks pan out. In fact, it's a lot more likely than Denver finding a good QB within that time frame. God knows it's taken the Bills 13 years and counting. I think Denver did fine getting what they got in return considering their hand was basically forced. But lets face it - their hand being forced is why the deal happened; not because of some master philosophy of McDaniels. Firing Shannahan was incredibly stupid. -
McDaniels/Quinn? > Shannahan/Cutler obviously. What a disaster for them.

I happened to see the last couple goals at a bar. I hope those El Salvador players can walk again - it appeared that their knees were ruined.

The 2009 Buffalo Bills season expectation
BuffOrange replied to Romeo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think we have the pieces to be good on offense too. It just depends on Trent. Fans of every team except the Giants think they have a terrible OL. When the running game stunk early last year, Edwards was good. When we started to run the ball, Edwards stunk. I don't want to hear about the schedule because the Browns & 49ers sucked. The defense is not going to be good, but it's not like we've lost a ton of 31-28 the last couple years. Most of our $ has been spent on offense and that is how we have to win. Either Trent gets it done this year or he doesn't. Nobody knows. -
I think McFadden's is a Buffalo bar, but it's downtown.

2008-9 Syracuse University Basketball Thread
BuffOrange replied to bills44's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yah I mean I guess I've accepted that college refs suck. Usually it's going to favor one team and it favored the other guys. As long as it's not ridiculously 1sided ala Vermont it's not worth griping about to me; particularly when we don't make a single outside shot when the game was in question. -

Relative to what I've seen all year I didn't think the officiating was especially bad. There were some phantom "deflections" in the 1st half where OU just threw the ball away, but whatever. We have better shooters and they shot way better. That's single elimination basketball. With the lack of great teams out there I could see that kid carrying them ala Carmello '03. GG 2009, plz come back Johnny. -
If Cleveland State beats Butler tonight...
BuffOrange replied to buckeyemike's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Seriously. I guess I was a little off on the matchups analysis. But Nova is also just better. They should've been up by more than they were at halftime. I think they win that game 9 of 10 times. My God that conference is overrated. To think how sick this BE run could be if Marquette didn't fart away their game. -
Agree or Disagree With "Tom Brady" Rule
BuffOrange replied to McBeane's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought Carson Palmer was a marquee QB in '05 and they didn't care enough to do anything then. Golden boy is no longer a sufficient term for Brady imo. -
All Throwbacks in opening game vs Pats

I'd rather trust the fact that one of two teams on the field always wears white.
