Purdue wouldn't have gotten curbstomped by a lousy Minnesota team if Hummel hadn't gotten hurt, so yah they probably would've been seeded higher, that's true.
-
See I don't really think that. For some reason it was always cool to be a Sox fan even pre-04. Yah, they had a rough history up until then. So do a lot of teams. Yah, they have loyal/diehard fans. So do a lot of teams. Yah, the Fisk HR was a great moment in what was ultimately a losing effort. Lots of franchises have those too and those moments aren't celebrated as much by espn. Yah, Buckner was a tough one. And again, there's no pity party for most franchises when something goes wrong in a tie game ie the championship was not in the bag. I don't even like the Yankees but I will root for them in that rivalry every time. I guess the Patriots just sort of made me hate Boston. That, and pretty much any person who has ever been on tv from Boston seems to be a giant D'bag.

They took advantage of their breaks. Therefore they didn't get breaks? And Purdue sans their best player was obviously worse than a 4. That was a major point of the initial outcry, along with 'Nova in their region being the weakest 2. If you get to the championship game you're going to play a good team. Any sane person measures breaks by the teams in your region. But yah, the nerve of the committee underseeding a team on the opposite side of Duke's bracket.

+1 WTF do people like the Sox.

No.

The 2006 NFC East maybe.

Anyone got tonight's Syracuse hoops score?

I don't know who Greg Doyle is or why I should care what he thinks. I don't know if Boeheim hid anything but if he did - good for him. They deserved the #1 seed based on their season (as did WVU over Duke but that's another discussion). -

Cliff Notes: A) College hoops is stupid. Unless you root for the school in the same city as your fav. pro team (be sure to send this memo to UNC and Arizona fans). B) Let me try to analyze something I don't watch or like or know anything about. As for not caring about NCAAB, clearly you're not alone in Buffalo, as WGR talks about it approximately never (unless Buffalo happens to be hosting games). And that's fine. Different regions have different tastes. Though if you want to play the 'national significance' game, it's a lot more popular than hockey. Most of the Buffalo lifers couldn't care less that they lost - as you can see if you actually read the thread. It's a big school and so they have a lot of alumns. And some people grow up 'Cuse rooting for the Bills. I don't know why we have to pretend like the majority of SU/Bills fans have spent their whole lives in Buffalo without any ties to CNY. Well actually I do know why - it's a good excuse to get on your lame soapbox. -

What were they - 6 for 24 from 3? And you're blaming the zone...ok. Funny how nobody blames a coach for not playing zone when they go M2M the whole game and give up 63 pts. -

Well their best wins all year were Ohio St. at home without Evan Turner, and Xavier at home on a controversial finish. Other than that they lost to teams like Minnesota on neutral courts when they stepped out of conference. So yah, I'm going to say Cuse blew it. -
He had zero McD's AA's between Wallace and Carmello. Probation in '93 really hurt them (and helped Uconn).
-
What? He stopped consistently getting elite recruits at Billy Owens oh, 20 years ago.

Yep. I've seen some upsets before, but I must say losing to a team that can neither shoot or rebound is a first. I guess on the plus side, it saved an eventual embarrassment against a good team. -
I would like their chances better if it were a 2nd round or Elite 8 game with only 1 day off. In this day of crazy media attention, UK is going to hear about how good Cornell is for the next 4 days. Plus Wall & Cousins probably don't want their future NBA teammates busting their balls about losing to Ivy Leaguers for the next 15 years. So I would say the chances of UK going half speed are small. But yah Cornell is good enough to the point where it's not "must play perfect and they have to play lousy" scenerio for the upset to happen.

It's definitely not out of the realm of possibility. The line is single digits. Temple & Wisconsin are solid teams - to win both handily says something.

That's pretty much how I see it too. I know the expectations were low with Riley for obvious reasons. But it's funny reading people say he played well when he had 1 great pass, a nice steal, 0 pts, 0 rebounds, 5 fouls, and one of the laziest turnovers I've ever seen. We shot lights out and they couldn't make anything. As Boeheim said in his presser - basketball is sometimes that simple. Butler's best wins all year are home games vs. Ohio St without Turner, and Xavier in a freaky 1pt finish. So I think we'll have enough to get by them. But then K-St would be a toss-up at best. Go Xavier! -

CBS map Either Cuse or Ohio St. -
Yah, when you can schedule a home and home with a bigtime program like a Uconn you're not really a mid-major anymore.
-
Of course it's a good win. When it's 1 of your very best wins and you have 5 losses you're not a 1seed. Cuse beating Notre Dame on the road by double figures is a good win too, but it's not one of their best 2 or 3 wins.

Yah Buffalo could come up huge in what could be our toughest game of the region. Much like UNC vs. LSU with a gimpy Lawson last year in the 2nd round in NC. I'd be doing cartwheels over this draw if not for the AO scenerio; it just sounds like he'll be a shell of his former self unless Boeheim is pulling a Bellichick. I think FSU will take down Gonzaga. -
Yah, there aren't any other good teams in NC this year. I suppose I didn't need to add that qualifier since their resume is still incredibly weak relative to a #1 seed when you don't exclude a neutral win vs. Ga Tech (who they lost to on the road).
-
Duke beat a total of 2 tournament teams outside of NC: Gonzaga and Clemson - a 10 and a 7. And their best home win was Maryland. How that even remotely compares with WVU much less Cuse is a joke and just makes me hate Duke more. As mentioned Cuse got a nice draw so maybe it's nitpicking or whatever. Then again people here go out of their way to get their panties in a wad when Mortenson says anything slightly unflattering about a crappy football organization in his chat.

I couldn't have cared less about the outcome after seeing that injury. Definitely good news although as you may recall he was a fairly lousy player when he was playing thru injuries in the middle of last season. I think it may be worth rolling the dice with him on the bench in the 2nd round if an extra week of rest will help. Even though we're probably only a slight favorite vs. an 8/9 seed without him, we just have no chance to make it out of the 2nd weekend with him going at 50%. -
The one free angent we should be targeting:

At this point in his career he sucks and is finished. Why anyone is even talking about his potential destinations is a joke. He's Edge James 2 years ago. "Minnesota is a good fit" - yah, he's a good fit for any team that doesn't need a RB. Lol @ Graham suggesting some kind of bidding war is going to break out.
