Football just seems better when good football towns like KC, GB, and of course Buffalo are good. NE, Indy, SD, et al are so God damn lame.

Edwards does better than Sanchez...
BuffOrange replied to Decimus Cometh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sanchize is a loser. How anyone picked that team to go anywhere with him is beyond me. Last year was a perfect storm of opponents forfeiting games, missing every FG attempt...they won't ever sniff the championship game again with that pile of garbage at QB. -
Oh great, it's hindsight guy. I've defended lots of coaching decisions that didn't work out, so don't play that card on me. You can make bad decisions in poker or blackjack and luck out yes, but they are still bad decisions.
-
Unfortunately you are 100% correct. The difference between a FG and a TD equates to about 25 yards of field position (that's a conservative estimate assuming they were facing the wind and couldn't make a 50 yarder). This fact completely negates any field position edge that a free kick might bring. Even though it's not a situation that comes up often, it's a pretty good indicator that our coach is a moron. Very troubling indeed. Of course if your main goal is to win the game instead of not lose by 10 points, going for it blows both other options out of the water.

Because Edwards sucks and he plays the most important position. The easiest way to improve on a 17 for 50 rush line is to run (no pun intended) more plays. In order to run more plays you need 1st downs. In order to get 1st downs when you're averaging 2.9 yards per rush your QB needs to make an occasional play on 3rd down. But wait - the pathetic QB is not capable of making a play on 3rd down. So what do you want them do - run on every 1st and 2nd down so they can set up a 3rd&8? Because fans never complain about the playcalling being too conservative/predictable when that happens.
-
Right, this is what people don't understand. Even for the worst offense in NFL history, the math favors going for it there compared to the alternatives. Even if you punt (which would've been terrible) that's better as you get basically the same field position but only down 3. Just criminally bad.

Thank you for bringing to my attention that his team is not very talented - I didn't realize that. Clearly that excuses awful decision making when the coach's only job is to put his team in the best position to win. Good thing they burned a time out on 3rd & 30 too.

So once again we have a pathetic loser for a Head coach. Awesome.

Give me Tennessee over Oakland.

What you really mean is that they were 0-6 two years ago. You cannot make the playoffs going 0-6, that's true.

Over/Under for Regular Season Wins
BuffOrange replied to wardigital's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They have much easier schedules. Especially the Chiefs. -
You can't see how their opponents won't forfeit games this year or how their defense comes down to earth like they did in Mangini's 2nd year or how their opponents might occasionally actually make a FG? [/just a little sick of the NYJ hype ]. But really I don't see how any Bills fan can worry about the division. It has been such a long time since anyone but the Bills kept them out of the playoffs.

Stadium Wall vs Buffalo News/
BuffOrange replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Everyone knew they were a bit lucky in '08, which was why they were a home underdog in the wildcard round. A monkey could've predicted their huge jump in wins would be followed by a step back; just like Atlanta. Parcells' Patriots team did the same thing before they went to the SB (no I'm not predicting Miami to get there this year). It doesn't mean they aren't headed in the right direction. Just stop embarrassing yourself. -
McDonough, Jay Bilas, and Bill Rafftery for college hoops is my favorite announcing team in all of sports and it's not close.

Super Bowl Winning Quarterbacks
BuffOrange replied to Benjamin Barker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you answered your own question. They want to sound like experts. So they cherry-pick teams that were better on defense. If a team was better on offense like the Saints, no problem, just cherry-pick a play that the defense made to help them win. Yah this is true. I've seen the replay of the Giants-Cowboys playoff game a couple of times. Amazing how different perceptions would be if the Giants Special Teams weren't much better that day, or if Patrick Crayton didn't have alligator arms. Eli would be average at best, collecting a paycheck due to his name, with a 1-3 playoff record. Romo would be who knows what depending on how far they advanced. People still think Romo is a pretty boy choke artist, but if he ever wins a SB nobody will ever admit they said that. -
Stadium Wall vs Buffalo News/

It's hard to believe there are people arguing the rivalry isn't a shadow of its former self. Even as someone who didn't live thru the 70's it was very easy to hate all of the overrated media hyped loud-mouths on their team during the Marino era. Same for the J. Johnson years culminating in the atrocious officiating in the '98 game. When Wanndsteadt took over, something happened. It wasn't that Miami got worse, because they were still the same 10-6 team most years. But they seemed to have fewer thugs that were easy to hate. Or maybe I got older and realized the players on the two teams weren't much different. Or maybe I stopped seeking out Dolphin message boards. Or maybe the Bills have sucked ever since. Or maybe the Patriots have been too good and gotten too many ridiculous calls in their favor. Or maybe as John so eloquently put it, the Fiedler vs. AVP games were kind of a joke. Whatever it is, it's definitely not the same to me. Not that I'm the spokesperson for all Bills fans, but there are obviously a non-negligible # of us who feel this way. As mentioned it was never "the game" from Miami's pov anyway save for our SB years. -
Passing vs. running. Which is more important?
BuffOrange replied to notwoz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I mean there's cherrypicking and then there's this. You can bring up the Bills last year and I can bring up the Saints, who were much better vs. the pass than the run. You can bring up the Bills-Giants SB and someone else can bring up Titans-Rams. The Steelers were a run-first team in '06 yes. They were also a wildcard who sniffed the SB because their young QB threw the ball up and down the field vs. Indy and Denver (taking out Palmer's knee didn't hurt). He also wasn't a rookie. When he was a rookie he played dreadful in 2 playoff games going 1-1 - it would've been 0-1 if the Jets kicker didn't miss 2 FG's. -

BuffOrange replied to notwoz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought we were talking about what's important. I'm not sure what we're talking about anymore. My point is the team hasn't suffered at all since their steep RB downgrade. I don't know how that points towards RB's being really important. -

And that supports your "running backs > running game" argument (particularly as neither could hold Edge James' jock strap)? -

BuffOrange replied to notwoz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How many RB's actually run routes though instead of just being a safety valve? Since Thurman there's been Marshal Faulk and well, that's pretty much it. Joseph freaking Addai is insanely expendable. Hell he split time with Dominiq Rhodes the year they won it all. -
In yet other news WGR will be right, the GR bashers will be wrong, and the Bills will suck. Again.

Passing and it's not that close. -
Roscoe Parrish--Emergency QB (circa 2009)
BuffOrange replied to FightinIrishBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mike Lombardi said a couple years ago on the BS Report that he was one of the most underused players in the league. Interesting that Rosenhouse was behind the trade rumors. I was never in favor of trading him for a 4th or 5th round pick. Just because he didn't live up to his early 2nd round pick doesn't mean he is totally worthless. Before last year's dreadful performance which was an outlier fluke imo, his elite punt returning ability alone was worth more than a late round pick. I mean he is the mvp of the opener vs. Denver if our defense could've made a stop on 3rd&40. Of course being an actual playmaker on offense remains to be seen.
