  1. Good job - these threads are a refreshing change from "Where are the ___ people now?" threads. The hopeful fans tend to look at close games we lost the previous year and blame them on coaches, think we should've won even if we got outgained 2:1. But really we were gift wrapped three games last year vs. the Jets, Panthers, and Dolphins. So that's part of it - we just haven't been as lucky this year. But also the defense is worse than even I anticipated. While Jauron had many shortcomings there is something to be said for his bend but don't break D - they played above their personnel. Of course that crappy personnel was at least partially his fault.
  2. You're allowed to pick home teams in this.
  3. I thought the 30for30 installment was supposed to be stories that flew under the radar a bit or were largely forgotten. The freaking '04 Sox are you kidding me? Yawn. [Not a Yankee fan].
  4. I totally agree. RB isn't QB or WR or any other position in sports really. It's the only one where "experience" does you more harm than good.
  5. I won't discredit him because he's the Mortenson of FOX, only more accurate in his reporting on transactions, which his his job. As far as his opinion of what players are worth, ya I couldn't care less. The "4th rounder for 1st round talent" comment is bleh - a player is only worth what other teams want to give up.
  6. I might die of laughter if he found an excuse to check down vs. our ferocious pass-rush.
  7. Haha, I'll go with Spiller.
  8. You'd think we'd be about due for a 678 flop.
  9. akm is right though. The '98 Colts could've had the worst talent evaluators on the planet and they still would've had a 50/50 shot of picking the right guy. If we have monkeys throwing darts in the front office we have anywhere from a 33-67% shot of picking the right guy assuming 1 of them pans out...it's just a chance you have to take.
  10. Except reports say he did want the job. Marty isn't going to hold a press conference announcing it.
  11. Wow how are people so bad at this? I'll go with Indy for Week 5.
  12. No real argument here. You're right Polian/Butler doesn't mean Nix will do it but I like his chances better than a marketing guy. I happen to agree insomuch as the Chargers IMO have the most overrated personnel in the league post Merriman injury. Really they just aren't as loaded with talent as espn would have you believe. Still I thought they were pretty damn unlucky to lose the '06 Patriots playoff game. How you can rip the LT/Turner draft picks is beyond me, particularly when they got Brees in the same draft as LT. I don't see what AJ Smith being a spazz and willingly downgrading from Schotty to Norv has to do with anything. If you work for a boss who is generally good at what he does and has some flaws that doesn't mean you have to copy his flaws when you're in charge. This just doesn't make much sense. It's not like Nix inherited the guy. You lost me here. The players who have been good elsewhere (Greer, Winfield, Williams) were good here. The ones who weren't are doing nothing. See Reed, Josh who people inexplicably thought we could get a decent draft pick for a couple years ago. Parrish would be a real nice player on a team with a good QB, but Whitner/Poz/Kelsay are flat out backups. Well I don't know how this meshes with #4. We're building nothing because our draft picks have sucked.
  13. I might be able to buy that if Texas actually beat anyone last year. What were their best wins: a controversial quasi-home game vs. a so-so Nebraska team? A neutral field win vs. a Bradfordless Oklahoma team that couldn't beat BYU at home? And you're nitpicking about a road win @VT? Sure Boise's conference isn't on the BCS level but I mean c'mon - all of these conferences outside of the SEC suck.
  14. This - wtf, it's not like that was 40 years ago.
  15. I don't get it - why? Yah I know he makes too much $. But what would the Bills going to do with the $9 mill, sign Patrick Willis? A bigtime player at a premium position like a DE/OLB pass-rusher being available and us actually signing him is a massive parlay that probably wouldn't happen. If we did somehow use the $ to get a good player or 2 to build around we're just going to be looking to draft a WR again. Best option is to keep Evans, hope our top QB pick in the upcoming draft pans out, and then work on the defense.
  16. Evans, Spiller, a Guard I guess, really nobody on defense. Of course there aren't 10 guys - if we had half a starting roster worth keeping we wouldn't be in line for a top 3 pick.
  17. I'm with you man. Remember when we "proved the haters wrong" and beat the Jets at home in '03, '05, and '07? Most probably don't because they were all meaningless games. Basically this was the the sort of game we always win that prevents us from getting a top pick. I'll just assume the Kelsay signing was a joke.
  18. Why in God's name would a team going nowhere want a 40yr old QB?
  19. Can't Block KelSay ??
  20. I'll take San Diego
  21. I hear a lot of complaining about knee jerk reactions and "you have to wait 5 years" too. So is anyone who talks about any draft pick ever a tool? Haha, A+
  22. This just became official today? I thought it was official after not making a single play in his first 4 years.
  23. Nice coverage out there today Whitner. Please injure yourself and get off the team.
  24. And? Did you miss the part where I said "I know it's hard to believe for Bills fans"? Only a couple fan bases think of 8-8 as meaningful progress...we just happen to be one of them.
